Writing from the Red Fox hanging with Yazzx and a few others. Played OFC for the first time in years and scooped both players in the last hand and won $13. One of them is a Riverking dealer so don't know how I feel about that. She probably knows I'll just end up tipping it back to her at some point anyway. We don't really share that many players but sometimes there is some overlap. But the owner of the Red Fox is super cool so he let us hang up a couple of posters advertising the guarantee Tournament and the room in general. Now we're just smoking weed, eating pizzas and talking about chess.

Wow! Hadn't read from Yazzx for quite a long time. How are the brothers doing?

Hey guys, what do you think of my fun plans:
I was wondering if it's easy to get in one of the Cambodian Football Teams. I've watched some games and their defenders are absolutelly terrible.
Being from Brazil, people will surely overrate my football skills. I am average here, can play defense.
Not that someone here probably would have info on this subject, just sharing the idea(I arrive in SEA- PI on April 27th, then next stop is Cambodia).

Would be fun not just for the money but also for the stories

Will do! I've done a little bit of freelance real estate photography, but the travel photography stuff is just a hobby. I'll post some more when get around to editing them.

You're welcome! Phnom Penh isn't exactly the most photogenic city, but it's at least worth your time to wander around the national palace, riverside, central/russian market.

Camera is a canon 5d mkii. All edited in PS. It's getting old at this point and the electronics on the quick control dial are all screwy now, but it still gets the job done.

Yazzx is fine as he's still playing at Riverking most days and the Red Fox on occasion. He's not degening it up as much lately but I do everything in my power to change his mind every time he says he won't come out. His brother Izzit is back in England taking a break from all the craziness here and replenishing his funds. The last I heard he's planning to come back in the summer, hopefully June. Having both brothers here would be a blast; we just need to find a bar with a beer pong table (shout out to 4_chainz).

Regarding the football team here in Phnom Penh, I wouldn't even begin to know how to answer your questions. But I did find their Facebook page which I will link down below. Their website link just brings you back to the Facebook page, but it does list a phone number and you can also message them through the page. Good luck!

I got a very interesting text the other day. Apparently the Lion City Casino in Sihanoukville has been sold and the poker room operators have been given notice to vacate. Those who have followed this thread for more than four months may know that I lived in Sihanoukville for a little less than a year and that Lion City was predominantly where I played. This changed once I started to work for Charlie and the Koreans down at Golden Island. I was hired to handle their marketing and be a house player and when we had some modicum of success in the beginning, those at Lion City took it really personally. I generally liked playing there, but I did have a lot of grievances against the room and I used the cons of the room in my marketing material. That having been said, all of this is moot because I moved back to Phnom Penh and eventually got hired by the Riverking.

So back to the text. I was contacted by a representative of the new owners and was told that if I wanted it, the floor manager's job is mine. I wasn't told any specifics such as salary, but was made aware that the current operators are going to be evicted and that I would answer to a different group of people. I was then given word by someone else today that the former operators of Lion City would be moving to another casino. While it may appear that I am writing about this to gloat, I assure everyone that I am not as I knew from the moment that I was told about this job that I would not be taking it. With Lion City now renovating and the former operators moving, that means there will be five poker rooms in Sihanoukville as we head into the low season which is probably four too many. So I am writing about this because I remain completely dumbfounded as to how and why these people fight over such a small market. I spoke to a friend down there today who told me that the games are tough to start each day with four rooms, I shudder to think how bad it will be with one more especially in a month or two. I often surmise that for those that come here to live in Cambodia, including myself, that there is a bit of a "big fish in a small pond" thing going on. As this is even more the case in Sihanoukville as opposed to Phnom Penh, I imagine the same sort of effect is in play with these poker room operators.

Looking back on it though, I did enjoy my time in Sihanoukville at least initially. But if I had to be honest with myself I only went down there to get away from my ex-girlfriend (more on that later). But it's interesting how this one decision has basically led to my "career" here in Phnom Penh. First 4_chainz and I were offered the opportunity to run the Queenco poker room. Then I was offered the manager's job at Poipet during the WPT by the man who took the Queenco room back from us. When I turned that job down, I was then offered and accepted the job to work for the Koreans. When that went well I was eventually offered the job at Riverking but when I went down to Sihanoukville for the WPT the Koreans asked me to move back and run their room for a share of the rake. And finally with this offer to run the floor at the new Lion City, I've basically been offered a job by nearly every poker room in Snooky. Objectively speaking I am no big fish, so I guess that must make Sihanoukville a really small pond.

It's 6:00 AM and I just got home from the poker room. Sunday is usually a slow day for cash games due to the tournament, but today the $2-$5 PLO game ended up going twelve hours, the last of which was three handed then heads up. I'm grateful for the staff at the Riverking because they make my job much easier. It's funny though as I was with one of the dealers playing at the Red Fox the other night and she jokingly complained that she wasn't making enough tips on the night shift. By the end of the shift her expression looked as if she regretted her complaint.

As a player, I hate when there are multiple poker rooms running the same games, at the same time. Waiting for games to start or going all the way to the casino just to find out there's no tables running absolutelly sucks

I've sent CROWN FC a message, btw. Thanks!

I wish it was the same games! Unfortunately in Sihanoukville it goes from 1-2 to 1-1 to .50-1 and all the way down to .25-.50 I believe. I didn't mean to make Sihanoukville sound so bad. In fact, reading my last post I came off a bit douchey. The poker scene is pretty bad but I met a lot of good people, many I would still call good friends. The beaches were nice and I always thought the girls were just fine. But the poker was just really rough. Lots of house players everywhere and as you mentioned going to the casino and finding no games. And when you did find a viable game, you had to deal with staff and management that couldn't properly run a room to save their life. But still I admit I do miss it a bit.

Not that long. I worked with the Koreans in Sihanoukville only a couple of months and I've been at the Riverking now a little longer than that. But I did run a couple of private games in Los Angeles where I grew up and I had many friends who were dealers and floor staff when I lived in Vegas. Good luck with the football team!

That thing were they stick their tongue between their fingers, it gotta be the most unattractive thing I see them do, and they all do it. It really turns me off those woman, so classless. I'm sure they are really nice woman, but when I first saw it, it really made me cringe. It reminded me of some old dirty granny.

They're bar hookers, not Audrey Hepburn.

Second (or third or forth) the great pictures, not that I don't appreciate Triads bar and food pics too.

It's really the opposite as they're acting like little kids more than an old grandmother. You have to remember that when you take one of these girls home, you're ****ing a 21 year old or whatever in body only. Their mindset is more like that of a 12 year and they act accordingly in the bars (analyze this however you will). This is true in every sense of the word for them in that although they may be working girls, it's rather amazing how unaware they are of their own bodies and sexuality. When you can get them to try a few new things, it's rather quite fun. It's an interesting dichotomy as it's like fuc*ing a whore and a virginal prom queen in one.

You've never seen Breakfast at Tiffany's? Quite a beautiful woman actually but I'm saying that by memory only as I can't even tell anymore. I've been here in Cambodia surrounded by readily available Asian pus*y that all white women sort of fade into the background.

We had another birthday at the Riverking today as we celebrated that of the rooms majority shareholder. It was sort of last minute as I only found out yesterday when he inadvertently mentioned it on the tables. We had one of the dealers quickly get a couple of cakes and made sure the room was packed full of players before surprising him. This is the man who hired me and I owe him a lot as he threw me a real lifeline when I was drowning in the poker scene down at Sihanoukville. He gave me a real opportunity to do something in poker and I love my job. It's the only poker room I know where I can run the floor in shorts and flip flops.

That's sounds like something a white guy would say. Coming from an Asian make it sound very funny.

Good point. I guess that shows that subconsciously I identify myself as more American than Korean.

I just took a poll of the players on our Hold'em game right now and most said the wifi is decent in the hotel here. We have a promotion for new players here where if you play 3 hours of cash each day, the first 3 nights are free in the hotel and 50% off thereafter ($10 per night). If you wish to stay elsewhere, I used to stay in this one place down the street called One Up Banana Hotel. It's a nice little boutique hotel with decent wifi and good service. The only drawback there was that you couldn't bring girls back to your room. If you're looking for something a bit higher up in price range, I found this list on tripadvisor that lists the best hotels with free wifi in Phnom Penh:

I do plan to play a bunch of poker, what hotel are you talking about with the promotion? (I haven't followed the thread that much)

It's called the Comfort Star 2 Hotel, in which the Riverking is located in the lobby. It's a basic three star hotel but the WiFi is decent and it's got a really good massage facility in site. The poker room and the hotel are two separate entities but it's a nice perk and convenience for our players.

I have two questions hopefully some people here can answer;

1) Is online poker legal in Cambodia? If the authorities knew you were playing would you have a problem with them? I'm sure you can play and not get caught, but I'm asking about the legalities of the situation.

2) If it is legal are gambling winnings taxable?
