Hey Tarouns, you will be fine in Cambodia for your visa, but it is different leaving Canada : most airlines will ask for an ensuing ticket after Cambodia (if you have a return ticket for Canada, that might do, but they might ask you to purchase one at the airport in Canada, so just arrive early to leave yourself some time if you need to buy one online).

I already have a flight on may 18 to come back to canada(from bkk). I was told that to get a 30 day visa in cambodia i need a proof that im leaving in 30 days or less. Is that true? Can't i just get a 30 day visa and book a flight once in Cambodia to leave for BKK?

Thanks.

The following is from the Cambodian embassy website:

Q2. What do I need to get my visa in Cambodia (upon arrival)?

A2. REQUIREMENTS

Application for a tourist visa requires:

* A completed visa application form*
* A Passport with at least 6 months validity
* One recent photograph (2 inches x 2 inches)
* Appropriate visa fee (US$35)
**Important:*In order to be admitted into the country, tourists may need to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds for their stay and a return ticket.

I really doubt that the immigration department at the airport in Phnom Penh will require you to show a return ticket; I've always had one so I don't know for sure. But I have heard and read on several sites that your airline might. You should probably contact them as they would be a good place to start.

I've never had to show a return ticket the last three times I entered PP, nor did I have one. The only hassle I ever get is from the airline when flying out of London but I just tell them that I live in Cambodia and I get a visa on arrival. (Unless you have a 6 month/1 year multi entry one which hasn't expired in which case you can just show them it in your passport.)

Also if you don't have a photo you will get a huge fine of about $1 and the visa is still processed, which is a lot cheaper than getting passport photos done in the UK which costs about $5-6 IIRC.

It's actually $2-3 now for not having your visa photo.
I tried to get back on the plane as opposed to paying this extortion but no go.
Luckily some super informative poster told us in the past that if you walk outside past the airport parking lot you can get like 1/2 off your tuk tuk.
That made me feel a little better.

Or rent it if facing troubles. I bet airlines know well the relaxed visa situation of Cambodia and won't be asking much questions.

Hey i really appreciate all of the answers!

As i said i do have a return ticket, except that its a ticket from BKK to canada on may 18th since im arriving in cambodia march 23 and crossing to thailand on april 9/10.

I believe it should be fine, might have to do a bit of talking but worst case scenario i guess i can buy a ticket from PP to bkk to prove that im leaving... but maybe not.

Thanks again

I got an interesting text the other day. I had mentioned in a previous post that I took a girl from 136 that told me she was twenty years old. It turned out she was eighteen, FTW! That same girl sent me a text and sent me a few photos of herself asking me to come to her bar. I am more than happy to oblige and probably would have that night. But then she pulled this thing that some girls do, feigning anger and acting as if I had done something wrong. I'm assuming that must work on some guys because enough girls do it. Anyway, I didn't reply after that. Why get bothered by something like this when you literally have hundreds of other girls to choose from.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but the boss officially made me a manager and I actually have hours now. Of course this hasn't stopped me from being here all day and night anyway. He's been telling me to take some time off and even offered to pay for a trip to Bangkok; I love this guy. But not wanting to take advantage I told him that wasn't necessary and that if he really wanted to do something like that he could help me out for a trip to Sihanoukville. I can visit some regulars down there, including the one I previously called the best sex of my life. She's not the best looking nor has the best body. But she does this thing that once had me book her two nights in a row.

I decided to write a little trip report from my current stay in Cambodia while sweating in a motorcycle repair shop.

It's an interesting country with loads of pros and cons that only become clear after staying here for a while. For example, the heat can feel quite exhausting at times, first I was fine for couple months but now with temperature slowly climbing higher I have not felt too comfortable going around town in daytime. Also, city pollution is quite bad, although nothing compared to Chinese cities. But people here seem to have big hearts and life overall is quite relaxed.

Okey ahead to pictures while waiting repair guys to bring me a better mudguard, first one they offer was broken in 3/4 attachments..

Think this next time you eat river fish etc.

I'm starting to flex my managerial muscles a bit and decided to make a change in the holdem game. As I'm working the day shift and starting the game, I'm opening the game $2-$4 and keeping it that way throughout the day and night. Most of the current players base seems to prefer a two blind structure and from the house's perspective I don't see much downside to it. It's the same buy in structure as the $1-$2-$4 game with a $200 min and $1,000 max. $1-$2 does run from time to time, but it'll never be a "thing" here. It plays too small and most of the players don't like it. The few players who would prefer it don't seem to mind a bigger game with a min buy in of $200.

It hasn't affected the action much as we had a crazy game last night of a holdem game that went for 16 hours. Around 10:00 PM a guy came in with his girlfriend, bought her in for $400 and himself for $1k. All in all, he bought in the same amount about seven times. By the end of the night there was barely a stack on the table below $1.5k. The night manager just kind of disappeared on me and I had to stay until the game broke at 5:00 AM. I was a bit worried that the late finish would affect today's game, but we managed to start at a normal time and now we already have a full game with a list.

Can some recommend a agent to help get a Thai visa in PP, and a decent hotel near the River King?

LMN Travel on the riverside, Mr Keo, he is great. If you give him all the papers before 10am, you get your passport back the next day around 6pm.

He know requires tickets in and out (but he can do it for you) and bank statements. 2 photos and a few dollars.

You can probably take my room as I will be looking for somewhere else to stay and won't be playing river king anymore. Losing 4 figures then having the manager swear at you when you have played more hours (20+) while sick than anyone else past 2 days leaves more than a sour taste in the mouth.

I was trying to reach everyone last night as I was on the Riverside and no one was responding. So I sent a message to Stewie on Facebook that read, "Where the *****k is everyone." I didn't realize he had a bad day at the table and I'm assuming he read the text as me trying to get him back in the room to play. The room had already been dark for an hour when the text was sent and I wasn't trying to get anyone anywhere other than for a night of drinking. I would never swear at a player, let alone a friend in this fashion. I've already explained this to him privately. I normally wouldn't respond like this, but feel myself in an awkward position to defend myself. That is all.

I can't really help with Siem Reap as I've never been there. If you go to Sihanoukville, avoid any guesthouses with GBT in the title as they're cheap but not very good. I stayed at the Sunday Hotel my last visit and it was quite nice for $25 per. If you choose there make sure you book at the hotel and not the guesthouse as they're is a place called Sunday Guesthouse and they are two different entities. The girlie bar area there is mainly in an area called the Square or the Plaza. It's by the Lion Circle and most drivers should know where it is. The girls there are the better looking ones but a lot of them don't go home with customers. If you're looking for a sure thing, go to an area called Victory Hill and a bar called Dragonfly. Poker in Sihanoukville is limited to mostly $1-$1 games. The Koreans have a $1-$2 game at Fortuna and I think it starts at 7:00 PM.

In Phnom Penh there are mainly two choices to play poker, the Riverking and Nagaworld. If you wish to play with us we have a promotion where new players can stay three nights free and 50% off thereafter if you play three hours of cash daily. If you wish to stay elsewhere, a couple of places I can recommend are the One Up Banana Hotel and the Silver River Hotel. Both are reasonably priced and are rated well on TripAdvisor. Just a word of caution on the first place is that they don't allow you to bring girls up to your room.

Let me know if you have any other questions and you can always PM me.
