The NLH starts around 11-12am everyday... Usually the game will switch to PLO around 6-8pm. Tomorrow at 2pm is the weekly $25 nlh rebuy tournament. I left today around 7-8pm and the NLH was still going with a full table, you must have just missed it ^^

It's funny how some things come full circle. When I had first moved to Sihanoukville 4_chainz, Izzit, Yazzx and I all hung out for the first time at one of the girly bars in town. At one particular stop I met the girl pictured here, holding 4_chainz's beloved dog Louie:

I really wanted to take her home but I knew we would be drinking late into the night so I told her I would come back for her in a couple of days on Thursday. Well, Thursday never came and although I've been up to this area several times since I never did see her again, until last night anyway. In trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible before I left, some friends and I went out and I ran into this girl once again. This time I was able to take her home and all I have to say really is that I suppose everything happens for a reason. She's probably the best lay I ever had and while I negotiated her tip to $25, I overpaid by a long shot and gave her the original price she wanted of $40. I had so much fun that I already negotiated a price for tonight and will go back for her one last time before I leave. If I had hooked up with her back then, I probably would have gone broke in two months just giving her money hand over fist. She was a bit camera shy so I only got this one shot, but she really hasn't changed much in 7 months:

I enjoyed my time in Sihanoukville, but I missed Phnom Penh and poker wise I suppose I couldn't justify staying here any longer. So back to the River King for whiskey nights and $2k pots won in a $1-$2 game with KJ off in a pre-flop all in.

GL to you in PP and obv pokerwise it is right move, i allready miss those games!
But for me it seemed like poker was bit improving at sihanoukville allready due Charlies game and you seemed to be doing quite well. Though you mentioned that high season being delayed and not going to be so great necessarily.

I think you are correct and I am honestly proud of what Charley and I did to offer a real choice in poker venues for Sihanoukville. That having been said, it is still a tough sell for the locals. We wanted to bring deep stack poker back and a game in which people actually had a chance to win some money. But the locals prefer a game in which they lose slow, not win big. And while Lion City has done some things to improve the state of their game, they were only done once someone else gave them some real competition.

At the end of the day, the Koreans need high season to start as more serious poker players would come to town and want to play deeper and higher games like $1-$2. But the locals also need to support an alternative game, otherwise the Lion game will descend back into a den of near underage dealers pitching cards in an empty warehouse, with staff who feel it is not a part of their job to learn the rules. But I did not foresee such a shift for the locals and while waiting for the high season to kick into gear, my own game was suffering. I was playing the day game to help that get started each day, but I also wanted to play at night as games then are typically better in any room. And considering my marketing role for the room, I was too exhausted to do all these things. I've told the Koreans that I would still help them a bit with their marketing materials and such at no cost. But for the most part I needed to change my situation into one in which I predominantly play cards and do little else; except post here of course.

I hope he already knows this but Frank is one of my favorite people in Phnom Penh. As far as French people go, he's near the top of my list.

Yeah I remember that. He did a huge favor for me during that APT by bringing down a bunch of stuff I had in storage back in Phnom Penh. A true gentleman and friend who goes above and beyond.

This is my last night in Sihanoukville as my taxi is set to arrive in 6 hours at 10:00 AM. I still have to pack and return my moto in the morning, but this didn't stop me from going out with the Koreans and then some Finnish guys. The poker room competition has been a tough one and it's taken a lot of Charley's time. But that didn't stop him from taking me out to dinner and drinks and picking up a $70 tab. I consider him my patron and true friend.

The Finnish guys wanted to go the beach but that's not really my scene so I took a solo mission to the Square and hung out with one of my favorite girls. They had actually closed the bar and was just watching a movie but let me in to join the private party.

Then I met back up with the Finns and got completely drunk. I then managed to get the same girl from last night for some late night fun. She just left the room so hopefully I can get about 4 hours of sleep in before the long drive to Phnom Penh.

+1 for Frank - I used to play a lot of live poker and saw so many "old" live pro turning bitter. It's always fun to play vs him

Just got to Phnom Penh and Riverking and I have to admit it's like coming home. It's nice to see a full game with full stacks with a big blind bigger than $1. I'm going to stay in the hotel here for now given the discount and the room is quite nice. Hope to have some poker and degen stories soon enough. Probably hit the town with Yazzx tonight so shouldn't take long.

The room is $18 per with a discount. But more than anything else is the convenience of living right upstairs of the room.

So I couldn't fight the urge to play. We're going out soon so cut the night short. In for $300 and out for $237 for a loss -$63. Oh well.

I have stack envy of Yazzx but he owes me a drink.

We went bar hopping and hit up some new spots not common to our usual rotation. It's amazing how more booze is what cures a hangover. Our friend Muscle Mike probably had the most fun as the girls couldn't get over how big he is. Mike was joining us for the first time but he also a poker player and moved at the same day as me to also play at the Riverking. He pulled a $600+ day at both hold em and Omaha so he was in a generous mood with the bar girls. One thing you can always count on a drunken night out is that at some point Yazzx will bust out in song.

It's not quite 4:00 AM here but a couple of the boys are still partying it up as they've decided to hit up the Marquee Club. The Riverking is shifting their schedule a bit and opening up at 3:00 PM starting tomorrow. A much more sensible schedule for poker players if you ask me. I think I'll get some sleep and hit up the massage in the hotel in the late morning then get a free breakfast before hitting the tables.

Not all nights are like this, just most of them. If you come back, come to Phnom Penh. Games at the Riverking and the nightlife are much more interesting than Sihanoukville.

Correct. I hadn't hit this place up in nearly two years. The quality of their lineup has improved quite a bit.
