River kings one of the softest games by far.

Red Fox have a NLH $20+R on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. They have a $0.25 - $0.25 dealers choice cash game which runs most nights starting around 8-9pm.. The game usually plays a lot bigger tho, I've had a couple $500+ nights there. The most commonly played games are 5 card omaha and Svitten, with some omaha hi/lo, stud hi/lo etc.. There is lots of drinking and smoking involved and sometimes can get a bit crazy depending on who is playing... If you want to nit it out and make some money then Red Fox is not the place for you.. But if you want to get ****ed up, gamble in a smaller game and play some weird games then I'd recommend it...

Nagaworld have $1-2 NLH starting around 8pm, usually 2 tables, sometimes 3. The game is usually 10 handed with really slow dealers and a very boring atmosphere.. They take a 10 minute break every 2 hours to change cards which is super tilting as a lot of players finish playing during the card change, it's what always kills the game... The game is generally pretty soft but I wouldn't recommend playing there as it is so damn boring and so badly run..

River King is by far the best option for live poker in Phnom Penh.. They have $1-2-4 NLH starting around 12am, and the $1-2-4 PLO usually starts around 6pm... Both games are really soft with a lot of action, the softest games in the country by far. The dealers are some of the best in the country and the game plays much faster than Nagaworld. They also offer free food, drinks and cigarettes..

If you are looking to play NLH or PLO then I'd strongly recommend River King.. If you want to play a smaller game and/or mixed game then give Red Fox a try...

When you're in a foreign country for the first time, it really helps to have a base of operations. In a place where I didn't speak the language nor know any of the customs, the Riverking was for many of us our very own country club. If you're a poker player and in Phnom Penh, it's a true destination site and you have to go. It's the sort of place when you go back home you can tell stories about it to your friends for years. I suppose after hitting the six month mark living in Sihanoukville, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic about PP and the Riverking.

It's great to hear that Yazzx is doing so well. We all miss hanging out with him here in Sihanoukville. Poker wise it seems appropriate that he's moved on to bigger and better things.

Been grinding a lot as of late so decided to blow off some steam at Victory Hill with a friend. I posted a pic on Instagram where a friend from Vegas proceeds to tell me I look like an old man. So I finally went out and got a proper haircut and shave.

The whole thing cost me $2 and I feel like a proper human again. In the meantime people have been pressing me for an announcement as I promised on the Facebook group page a few days ago that Golden Island would start up a new tournament. I still have to crunch a few numbers and get final approval, which I'm almost certain will be today. But getting back to more important things, I always get more love from the girls when I'm clean shaven. Maybe I'll hit up the Square tonight. If anyone's in town drop me a line.

Seeing as how I've decided to stay in Cambodia long term, it would seem probable that I would move back to Phnom Penh at some point. There are a few restaurants I miss, some girls and of course friends. I'm sure by now that it's obvious I'm doing some work for Charley and the Koreans associated with the Golden Island game. What I do for them I enjoy immensely but I do have to consider the future involved with such work.

Looks like you've taken ten years off poker_triad!

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the poker status and other going ons in Sihanoukville.

Would someone moving there lock in a much better 6/12 month lease on apartment if the started out during low season? Or is the price difference minuscule?

In PP the Riverking $1-2-4 is the best game, but it sometimes breaks/changes to PLO around 8-10pm, then Nagaworld $1-2 is the next best option. I'm not too sure about Sihanoukville, I guess Golden Island have the best game, $1-1 or $1-2

The prices are usually lower in low season. My guesthouse the difference is $200 as opposed to $250 during high season. But many places are not doing that this year and keeping their prices the same. It makes me think that many places are bracing themselves for a bad high season. I tend to think the same as we are already almost into December and people have not yet started coming in yet. This is basically the reason why I've decided to move back to Phnom Penh.

It's Phnom Penh over Sihanoukville and it's not even close. I would say both the Riverking and Naga games play closer to $2-$5 than $1-$2. If you do play in Sihanoukville it's Golden Island over Lion City and once again it's not close. Golden Island is the only room with a $1-$2 game and even if the other room were to ever get a bigger game going, the staff simply is not equipped to handle any game with serious players. Dealing to the retired crowd for $1-$1 is one thing, but flipping over cards every other hand probably won't go over well with those who play bigger. Also, the only reason the smaller game even goes is because of the abundance of Chinese house players and they can't stake them into a bigger game. On the other hand, the dealers at Golden Island are more than able to handle any game and all of their games play bigger. The $1-$1 game has trouble going sometimes because the locals just won't play it. It's a bigger game and you're liable to see more tourists in it. The $1-$1 game starts around 1:00 PM and the $1-$2 around 7:00 PM. And the Koreans at Island are always down to play higher and different games.

If anyone in Phnom Penh can transfer $300-1.5k cash for Stars or Skrill (need cash) that'd be hugely appreciated. Will pay a 3.5% fee for the hassle.

Playing with the Koreans in what is probably my last game in Sihanoukville, at least for a while. Playing and working for them has been a lot of fun, but I admit I'm pretty exhausted. The poker wars down here seem fairly pointless when everyone seems to be fighting over the same 15 players. I realize that things will improve during the high season, but the start of that seems to be delayed evermore and I didn't want to stick around to find out. Going out with some friends the next two nights then driving over to Phnom Penh on Monday. Will probably head to the Red Fox for a joint then hit some bars when I'm good and baked.

Haha no. I just arranged a ride so I'll be going by taxi. If anyone wants to share, I'm leaving on Monday at 10:00 AM. The scooter was a rental. I'll probably buy one soon after I get settled in PP.

Hi guys,

I was thinking of heading to Cambodia for the month of December solely to play poker.

Been reading all recent post on this thread , very insightful

Just wanted to seek your advise on what you would recommend for a recreational player just starting out
Would Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville be a better option ?

Thanks in advance

Just landed! And the first place I dropped by was...Riverking. and they still exist. But too bad no NLH. I guess the PLO game has been running overnight. And I can see why, all-in before flop??? Wild game! Well, might as well check out Naga and go from there. PM me if anyone is up for a drink on RVRSide. maybe 136 st.
