Red Fox have a NLH $20+R on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. They have a $0.25 - $0.25 dealers choice cash game which runs most nights starting around 8-9pm.. The game usually plays a lot bigger tho, I've had a couple $500+ nights there. The most commonly played games are 5 card omaha and Svitten, with some omaha hi/lo, stud hi/lo etc.. There is lots of drinking and smoking involved and sometimes can get a bit crazy depending on who is playing... If you want to nit it out and make some money then Red Fox is not the place for you.. But if you want to get ****ed up, gamble in a smaller game and play some weird games then I'd recommend it...
Nagaworld have $1-2 NLH starting around 8pm, usually 2 tables, sometimes 3. The game is usually 10 handed with really slow dealers and a very boring atmosphere.. They take a 10 minute break every 2 hours to change cards which is super tilting as a lot of players finish playing during the card change, it's what always kills the game... The game is generally pretty soft but I wouldn't recommend playing there as it is so damn boring and so badly run..
River King is by far the best option for live poker in Phnom Penh.. They have $1-2-4 NLH starting around 12am, and the $1-2-4 PLO usually starts around 6pm... Both games are really soft with a lot of action, the softest games in the country by far. The dealers are some of the best in the country and the game plays much faster than Nagaworld. They also offer free food, drinks and cigarettes..
If you are looking to play NLH or PLO then I'd strongly recommend River King.. If you want to play a smaller game and/or mixed game then give Red Fox a try...
When you're in a foreign country for the first time, it really helps to have a base of operations. In a place where I didn't speak the language nor know any of the customs, the Riverking was for many of us our very own country club. If you're a poker player and in Phnom Penh, it's a true destination site and you have to go. It's the sort of place when you go back home you can tell stories about it to your friends for years. I suppose after hitting the six month mark living in Sihanoukville, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic about PP and the Riverking.
It's great to hear that Yazzx is doing so well. We all miss hanging out with him here in Sihanoukville. Poker wise it seems appropriate that he's moved on to bigger and better things.
