I stream all of the UFC fights, boxing and Australian rugby on wiziwig.tv no lag, so yeah definitely easy to do.

This is going to be hilarious, I'm in for hilarity and for the ride,

In regards to budget, here is my monthly bill: I'm going to say were definitely on the high side, but not ballin out of control.

- Rent: $1.3k + $130 electricity (work Pays)
- Housekeeper Tip: $20, she does a super sick job 3 times a week
- Food: $30 a day on average = $900
- Massages/Manicures for the GF: $100
- Gym: $100 (GF likes the place, cant argue with a fit chic)
- Beer: $48 ($8 a carton, average 4 cartons, bottle of Bundy)
- Cigars: $100
- Aeon Groceries: $200 (fresh Fruit, meat, diet coke, fresh salads)
- Transportation: $4 a day, so $100ish

Overall I take a tuktuk to work everyday, I drink my fresh fruit smoothies, we eat out practically every night at various restaurants, and our bill is rarely over $20-$30 (On average its around $22ish) Id like to think that this could be cheaper, but to be honest its a drop in the bucket compared to when we were living in Toronto.

My Overall happiness level is a 10, when comparing to living in the US, life is much simpler and way more safe.

My advice for anyone is to basically look at the Wage, and double it, when compared to working in the western world. So a $50k job in the US is practically a $100k job here, when you factor in overall costs etc

I roll with Smart on my phone,
http://www.smart.com.kh/en/service/internet/internet-en

At home we have http://www.mekongnet.com.kh/
They constantly win the awards for most stable/fast in PP
http://www.mekongnet.com.kh/Last%20N...id=42&m_id=158

From my experience its decent, can 12 table comfortably, can stream movies/netflix and have been playing a ton of Dota 2 without any lag, so yeah definitely doable, but make sure you bring decent surge gear, as power is perfect but my surge has beeped a few times :/ YMMV

Can you open a blog or keep us posted here on how you're doing when you'll be there.

I'd be happy to read it.

I just got a Cellcard dongle a couple days ago and it seems to be working flawless so far on a very small sample.

Hmmm we also tried cellcard dongles (small sample too) and they were awful... unusuable... Using metfone atm, a bit better but still not great :/

Like what? You were banging on how to save $1 on airport tuk tuks by walking across busy roads with your luggage a page ago and now your critisising a guy for saving money on food. Does your trolling even have an agenda anymore?

Yea guess it depends on the location mostly. Haven't used mine outside Long Live in Pnhom Penh yet. I'd imagine most will work here better than in Sihanoukville anyway.

walking across the (tiny) phnom penh airport car park takes 30 seconds, if that. saves me $2. $2 for 30 seconds of walking seems like a good trade.

two pubs are virtually identical and a 30 second walk away from each other. one sells beer for $5, the other $7.

if i want a beer i'm going to walk the extra 30 seconds to go the pub selling beer for $5.

buying raw chicken to make a $4 meal last twice as long is an elaborate process to save a few bucks. you have to buy the chicken, cook the chicken, reheat the food.

I didn't say anything about that bad advice the last time you gave it, but seeing as you are going on about it.
It's terrible advice to tell people who have all their stuff with them, including laptop, to walk across the airport car park to save $2 on a tuk tuk. Even getting a tuk tuk isn't a great idea, as things get snatched from them, and they are hot and you breath everyone's fumes. Get a taxi when you have all your stuff on you. Maybe even get the hotel to send you one. Sit back, enjoy the aircon, while making your way through the mayhem of PP traffic.

i agree tuk tuks aren't for everyone, but i enjoy the assault on my senses.

all their stuff? wheel your suitcase with one hand, carry your laptop with the other. i walk further than that with groceries to a car park. you can't pull a bag with wheels on it?

Sure, it's easy enough to wheel your case and have a laptop backpack, but I meant it's a disaster if you lost any of that stuff. You are only going to have all your stuff with you a few times. imho, it's best to be extra safe at those times. Getting your laptop stolen would set you back a lot of money and wasted earning time, as would replacing everything else.
I agree PP is an assault on your senses when arriving. Noobs should be careful until they get to the hotel and secure their valuables.

i have never been mugged for my laptop in my life. i wouldn't consider a laptop to be a 'valuable' either. i usually carry the equivalent of low to mid range laptop in my wallet and don't feel uncomfortable doing so any where, even cambodia.

i can't see anyone ever being mugged in a small airport car park where there are guards and many witnesses.

are you scared of the dark too?

Rather than admit you are wrong in trying to save $2, you are getting silly!

It doesn't matter how much the laptop is worth, it's the hassle going to buy one in PP, then reloading all the software, getting a new passport, and the time wasted etc. The potential saving is - EV.
It's not even worth the $2 for a short walk, to get a random tuk tuk, who all say they know where you are going, but don't. Best advice to noobs, is get a decent taxi, rather than save $2. A hotel taxi, will at least be able to find the hotel they work for.

That's my advice. You tell them any nonsense you like.
