Is Adderall available in Cambodia? Specifically, if I moved there would I be able to continue getting/using a prescription for this drug?

My bank here and Moneybookers have given me a few headaches since I've been here. Things like verifying addresses can be a real hassle in a country that doesn't appear to have a postal system. Is there a reason why you'd rather go to Cambodia instead of PI?
money, the more i looked at cheap places in PI it seemed like either the apt wasnt gonna be nice or it was gonna be in a shady area

charlie harpers at $150 a night is sounding really nice at the moment

can you sign up for moneybookers in cambodia? im up to page 30 of this thread so maybe there isnt a good post on this yet in the last 4 pages but how do you guys go about funding and withdrawing from poker sites? can you get neteller there?

would you be able to cash USD travelers cheques anywhere?

K2D, I have been to Cambodia, Phils and Thailand for at least a month in each place, as I said given your requirements Phnom Penh would be best suited for you. Play live at Naga until you can figure out your living arrangements, internet and how you can deposit. The first 2 weeks you will be adjusting to the pace of a third world country no matter where you end up, but speaking from experience Cambodia is much easier place to get familar with, especially as they also trade in US dollars.

I know you have your heart set on Manila, but the truth is that it is a very hard place to learn the ropes of third world living, unless you know someone you can trust there to help you out. You will need help, there is no way of learning how things work there, simple as traveling in jeepneys without someone showing you first. You will make too many mistakes which all cost money, and given your bankroll im assuming you cant afford to make those mistakes.

Commit to 1 destination and make that work, but once again, Cambodia is defiantly the place to be.

Charlie harpers is a pretty cool bar, and im sure you could work out a long term accomodation rate and help get you settled in.

charlie said awhile ago $150 a month for a furnished 1 bedroom with free wifi, i think it might even include free electric, hard to beat that price (impossible is a better word than hard)

so you went to charlie harpers yourself?

kinda surprised to hear that the philippines is rougher than cambodia

about done with this thread, will finish it tonight, then the mass amount of questions shall begin, not to much info in this thread yet to be honest

They can all be rough places, it depends how well you can handle yourself, but Cambodia is pretty tourist friendly, much more so than manila. Its also the amsterdam of the east where its perfectly fine to smoke/buy green in pretty much any bar there.

Yeah ive stayed there, 150 month is super cheap to live in a place that also has a bar, food, wifi and pool tables if your plan is to grind.

Not sure where you heard that. No problem signing up and playing on PS from Cambodia.

As for Moneybookers, again no problem opening an account. Where I did run into a problem was when I tried to deposit onto Moneybookers from my Cambodian account. I'm using Acleda Bank and they have a policy against funding gambling sites and they consider Moneybookers to be one. It's totally legal, but they have a policy against it. I can't say if the other banks have the same policy.

I ended up having to initially fund my MB account with a trade, then I was able to withdraw my bankroll from my US friendly site to MB so I could deposit it onto Stars etc. I have no problem withdrawing from MB to my Cambodian account, only depositing.

I play on all sites out here and deposit from my bank back home, i also have an ANZ account which i have found very good and easy to transfer money online to and from my bank back home.

For internet you will need a lap top ( i have 2 ) as power cuts are often also 3G through usb dongle is good though i now have 3 ( one for general internet ) and 2 for back up on pay as you go.

I have lived here for 8 years it is a beautiful country with amazing people.

Fire me a PM if you want some info but (no offence) don't bother if you want advice on girly bars and that scene as it bores me and is the only downside of living here ( the dirty old men).

its discussed on page 30-31 of this thread, you responded saying you couldnt fund moneybookers, but after that nothing was really said about it, but i was wrong it didnt say u couldnt set up a stars account there, just u couldnt fund one

how could someone just arriving in the country from america get any money put on stars?

chase is ANZ a local cambodian bank? can you deposit and withdraw USD from it? do you know if it could fund a moneybookers or stars account?

ok so i finished the thread, here are my initial questions, thanks to anyone that can offer any answers or help

how far is naga from red fox? the cheapest room at naga was about $80 a night right? any cheaper hotels very close to it you could recommend?

to get a business visa for the year do you have to show proof of doing some sort of business? can you get the tourist visa for the first month and then get the business one? or if you want the business one eventually do you have to start with it? (would save a whole $5 if you could start with the tourist one)

can you just continue to get this business visa every year as long as you like?

anyone ever able to get a box at naga?

anyone been to the casino in shinouk near charlies? if so was it USD on the tables? have poker? stakes? rake?

squibz u mentioned a couple of apartments near naga, for $200 and $350, were those furnished? did u actually go in the rooms? u said they werent that nice, i dont need nice were they at least liveable? decently safe area? any other apt/condo places to check out on low budget?

you also mentioned the lux in the same post, someone else mentioned it as a hotel, can you do long term there? is it decent? someone said internet was good there, rough guess on what it would cost per month?

thanks guys any answers would be greatly appreciated

maybe cambo isn't for you then? it is pretty 3rd world, even in PP. naga is like a 5min moto ride from red fox btw.

also who uses travelers cheques anymore? i didn't have any issues withdrawing from citibank when i went to siam reap last year. dunno what other banks are like but if you have a major bank it shouldn't be an issue.

something to keep in mind though is how can you plan on playing live at naga if you're not willing to walk around with cash?

it was pretty annoying that naga didn't offer me a safe when i asked even though i played there almost every night for 2 weeks....after biggest session there i just stayed until 10am when the game broke because i didn't want a risk a jealous motorbike driver robbing/killing me on my last night before flying back to thailand. the floor wouldn't even call me a cab and told me to just hail one outside. you'd think they'd at least offer that service since they don't even do poker room points. =/

that being said i did usually feel safe grinding there but some level of paranoia is healthy.

as far as travelers cheques and citibank go, i dont have much money, id prefer not to pay lots of atm fees, and id also like knowing that if the tc's get stolen i can call in and get the money back (though the thought just popped into my head that if i were carrying a lot of them someone who finds them might go the extra step and kill me so they can get away with it, sweet)

im pretty sure if i end up in cambodia ill be going to shinouk, charlie harpers at $150 a month is definitely worth looking into

The difference between you and the locals is that they are well aware that some nerdy tourist kid leaving the casino is not strapped. Locals well might be.

2 weeks ago in Thailand an Australian tourist was stabbed in the heart for $10. Cambodia is no different, if anything it's more dangerous.

People who think it is safe to leave Naga in the middle of the night don't have very good street smarts IMO. Even more ignorant thinking 5k isn't a ton of money in Phnom Penh
