This is probably my last post in this thread as I am heading back home on Monday night, then heading off to Manila for APT Championships Philippines (
http://www.theasianpokertour.com/apt...lden-week-2017) and Pokerstars Live Manila Super Series 2 (
http://www.pokerstarslivemanila.com/.../superseries2/)
Played at the RK Sunday $7.5K guaranteed tourney. Ran my chip stack from 2,000 up to a peak of 30,000 but I was screwed over by the accelerated blind structure post rebuy/add-on. Didn't get cards so I was blinded off and busted with J 10 against Q 6. Sigh...
Only one hand in the tourney stood out for me. Blinds were 150/300. I limped with AK in EP, hoping to limp jam. But it was limped around. Flopped TPTK. Check called 500 chips. Villian jammed into me on the turn with 5,000+ chips when I checked. Before my mind could process what's going on, I automatically pushed my chips in. It's my first time that I play poker at a sub-conscious level. My body already knew he was bluffing before my mind could process what's going on. Turned out I was right. He was drawing to 4 outs on a gut shot straight draw. River blanked. I scooped a 10,000+ pot.
Not that the above hand matters. I am pretty disappointed that I had never cashed in a single tourney at RK. FML. And I consider myself to be better at tourneys than cash games. Sigh. Feel free to check out my hendon mob page if you are curious :-)
The upside is that I earned my buy-in back from cash games. Bought in for $200, cashed out for $245. Not much but I'll take it. Nothing significant to report.
Headed to Naga after where I played for 2 hours plus. Down $40. Again, nothing significant to report.
Feeling tired so I decided to end the session. I had clocked about 8 hours of poker today. Thankfully, I have never treated poker as a full-time job. I see it more as a hobby that I love and am passionate about. Poker can be a f***ing grind at times.
Overall, this trip has been good to me. Started off terribly. In my first week, I was down $2.5K and only had $500 cash on me. Wanted to book tickets home but I can't due to some technical issues. That night, I went down to Naga. Had a good session. Proceeded to RK for PLO, had another good session. Not only did I reverse my losses eventually, I booked a nice $1K+ profit into my 2nd week. My profits peaked at $2K+ at one point. Really grateful for the fortuitous turn of events. Had I stayed on, I would never have been able to grind back my losses.
Wanted to end this post by sharing a picture I took with the tourney champion. But Mike was quite sensitive about it. "Don't post the pic on 2+2". I told the champion I'll send the pic to him on Facebook. "Oh, and don't share it on Facebook either" Mike added. Ok....
So I'll end this post off with a nice meal (Fish Dory and white wine) I had at The Riverhouse Bistro (
https://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/Resta...hnom_Penh.html). Do check it out if you are in Phnom Penh.
