just head to serendipity road it is the tourist area and will be safe

all the hotels are the same, just test out the wifi and choose one that works, get a 3g stick as backup which will shockingly actually work well in a city that can't even keep the power turned on all the time

I recommend Zana House in Serendipity area. Much nicer than the other hotels in the area, only $13 a night.

Thanks!
smart/metfone 3g was very reliable for me in all of the bigger city's (smart might be a touch better).
i got a opennet fiber connection in snooky for 69$ to save myself some headache and generally worked better then expected

North of Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri.
there were 4 of them but i suck at taking pictures and was in awe the whole time^^

Otres would be my pick if I would come back to Sihanoukvile for 1 or 2 months but yeah, internet might be an issue (fiber unlikely i assume)

Erm can anyone shed some light on this... I'm from UK and have been playing on stars.uk in Cambodia for the past few months (it's my permanent address so didn't feel the need to change it).. tried to log in the other day and was forced to download the normal Stars client.. when I logged in it now has my registered address as Vietnam?? I emailed them and they said I have been playing from Vietnam from the last few months and I told them I haven't even set foot there I'm in Cambodia and from the UK and I'm traveling so will be back there so want to continue playing under that address (failing that I would have just provided a utility bill from here in Cambodia but I got this back from stars:

__

Thank you for contacting PokerStars.

Due to jurisdictions requirements, you will not be able to play in Cambodia, and you will need to provide us with a clear copy of a recent utility bill clearly showing your full name, current address and statement date (no older than 3 months) with your UK address once you return to that country. We apologize for the inconvenience.

__

Luckily I can still log in and play, deposit & withdraw under this phantom Vietnam address but I'd be wary anyone wanting to move here to play online for a living... since when has Cambodia been on the list of countries you can't play on? Anyone have a link to this list.. not sure whether to follow up as I can still play as it stands.

it's not on the list of countries you can't play on, with dot.com client. but they don't really want you to play there long term with the dot.uk client, as the UK is a regulated market

i looked inside a pc store on monivong (in phnom penh) when my laptop was close to dying and the new machines (acer, etc) were competitively priced. however, the cheap machines didn't come with windows installed. my laptop ended up lasting so i never bought one there.

Well of course it's a good thing that I can now play on .com. They didn't actually make that clear in the reply though, they just said I won't be able to play on Pokerstars till I return to the UK - was just bad wording on their behalf.

Common problem here. When you are using some ( i dont know which one) internet providers in cambodia, you will get vietnamise IP. Cambodia is not banned, but in some location only with VPN you can get cambodian IP.

Nice job. Now don't spend all the extra saved money on meth and ladyboy hookers. Good luck.

Yeah I thought it must be something like that, I just sent them a copy of my passport & latest internet bill and they changed it to Cambodia and I'm good to go on .com software so crisis averted, I would have been screwed if I couldn't have played here since I'm pretty broke now & Stars is my only source of income.

I think unless you absolutely hate the partying scene then Otres would be too boring, IMO it's better to live downtown and when you want to go relax at Otres just rent (or buy obv) a bike and go there. Not been too Snooky for 5 months now think I'm due a trip down there.

Laptop still works!! It was not stolen, nobody wants that piece of crap !!

Today buying 13 big shrimps, cost 5 bucks ... Went to utopia for a drink and after lunch a swim in the beach!!
God, how i love kombo!!

I like to live in Snooky downtown rather than touristic area, i dont have patience to tourists, backpackers and young poker players that are superstars

Problems with HUD (PT4). I had enough of trying to fix and went for a swim at the beach. Also asked a guy who was there and also plays poker but he did not know ... And PS not accepted the letter from the landlord and the bank as proof of residence. ****ty day ...
