in the philippines you can stay for 3 years and go to immigration once every 6 months for an hour, in jakarta you can stay for 6 months and go to immigration 3 times a month....... if the two places are reasonably similar then why stay in the harder place?

i was in jakarta or a total of 5 days, exploring the city throughout the day and trying many different restaurants. i don't have time nor the patience (and no interest) in grinding online chat apps.

white foreigners are definitely a novelty in jakarta. in bangkok they don't get a second glance.

i have been in indonesia over 15 times. i don't think indonesians are friendlier than thais. on a superficial level because they'll say 'hello mister', want to know your business, want to take a photo with you. thais will just ignore you.

but thais are generally friendlier, more polite, better mannered, mind their own business, and thai girls are much better looking.
