Iceland in the Winter - Worth a trip Iceland in the Winter - Worth a trip

I'll be starting a long-term journey through Europe this January. Icelandair has a stopover option on a flight and was considering taking advantage of it. However, it's winter and I'm concerned that it'll be too damn cold to do anything.

Anybody travel to Iceland during the winter? Is it worth going at this time? Perhaps it's cheaper there since it's offseason.

There's very little daylight during winter I think, which I imagine makes going alot less worth it. Googlign says 5 hours of daylight at midwinter

Iceland is amazing, I was there again this summer. Some great deals on Airbnb in the winter but it is still expensive. No daylight when I was Hofsos during Jan and you will need a 4X4 unless you are staying in Reykjavik, plus get the extra insurance stuff. I had a stone chip but was stuck at least once per day.

Some of the hotsprings are unbeatable in the winter, but if you are staying for longer than a few days it gets depressing being plunged into total darkness for so long.
