Help a guy out : Trying to find a live poker destination for 6-12 months Help a guy out : Trying to find a live poker destination for 6-12 months

Hello all, am presently in Philippines, but am trying to find a new scene for October 2015 until probably July 2016. A little about me :

- 38 years French Canadian old who is not into the Hookers and Blow scene anymore (so the night scene becomes less of a factor).
- I speak French, English and have a strong base in Spanish.
- I have travelled/lived in several countries, mainly third world countries like Guatemuela, Nicaragua, Mexico and quite a few SE Asian countries, to name a few. I have basically permanently been on the road since the age of 22.
- Will be travelling with gf, meaning extra fees.
- Love meditation, outdoors, beaches, hiking etc.
- Play poker full time. Mainly online nowadays, but looking to get back into the live scene.
- My monthly budget is of 2-2.5k for all expenses (but am open in spending a little more, if the place warrants it).

What am I trying to look for? Mainly 3 elements :

- Primo : Live poker game of at least 2-5 deepstack or 5-10. I will be playing on the WE or whenever the games are juicy, online during the week. My destination is heavily based on finding a good game (I would go anywhere if I was just playing online).

- Secondo : Since I am seriously into meditation, I want to find a nearby centre. However, I do not need help finding this, as I have enough sources to find by myself (yet, this will factor into the final equation).

- Tertio : A beach would be a plus.

So am basically trying to find in Latin America, Asia or possibly Eastern Europe (but am not opposed to first world countries, as Florida might be an option...). My first choice was Goa which would of met all my needs, but have just read that the rake is 3-5% and capped at 80$. If not, Ho Ann could be a possibility, but have not heard about rake/stakes there... Anyone? China or maybe Japan could be a possibility... If not, I am also thinking in terms of an emerging market like Brazil or Argentina perhaps...

Anyhow, any info/feedback would be much appreciated.

Peace

Don't really have any information on places you should move to unfortunately. But I'm actually going to se Asia soon and would like to play some live poker in the Philippines.

Any suggestions on best places to play? From what I've heard Manila is the best and davos and Cebu are good as well. Let me know if u have any information/tips for the country.

Yeah, I don't expect too much from this thread, as I think that I will have to do some more digging by myself in order to see if they are some games in my desired destinations... And unfortunately, poker players understandably don't like to tell other winning regs about a juicy game...

As far as live poker in the Philippines, it really depends what stakes you are trying to find. If you are satisfied with simply covering your expenses, then Cebu and Davao will be satisfying for you (usually 25-50p or 25-50-100p games, or 0.50-1$ and 1-2US$). If you want mid-high stakes, Manila is the place to go. You will not find 100-200 and higher outside of Manila (but can find 500-1000 at Solaire).

If you need more info about the country, the Philippines thread is where to go (although you will have to manoeuvre your way through the gossiping to get the practical info about the country...) :

And then I got a thread here, in the travel section, which is mainly about poker and travelling, yet holds quite a few info about my year spent in the Philippines :

I will also update my upcoming trip in there as well.

If you have any specific question about the PHL, PM me.
