I have info regarding a number of pretty big NLHE and PLO games that run regularly. They are fairly safe - as is just about everything in the city center. The games are in the 2.5/5$ - 5/10/20$ range...with buyins from 500$-1500$ (some are uncapped).

Cool stuff to read as a Hungarian\American (now living in BP). I also like the IKEA mirror (the one that you have to put together the pieces for).

Agree with most of the stuff that has been mentioned.

Just one more thing: Don't ever go to a strip club, there's a 9999% chance you will get scammed\robbed.

I guess I could also help out with answering questions.

Hey Van Basten- would you agree a lot of the young people speak pretty good english? The nightlife sounds pretty cool also- good compared to typical US city? Also is it a gud city to walk around or is there a lot of traffic and small footpaths? Thanks a bunch- gr8str8 was also pretty informative :P

Re: Generating Interest for Budapest Poker House

Bump for this thread...myslelf and the OP are looking at moving into a 5 bed place pretty soon...I made the below post in the PLO fourm but its open to Mid/High stake NL/MTT players also

Any PLO regs interested in coming to Budapest to move into a 5 bed apartment with me and another PLO reg? we are looking at moving into a 5 bed apartment, turning one room into an office and having one spare bedroom. All the bedrooms have en suite with Jacuzzi, flat screen TV, double bed and desk. Kitchen is pretty big and spacious. Only downside is there is no real living room, so there is just a couch in the kitchen, but the space is pretty big, and we'd all have pretty big rooms and the bedroom converted into a grind room to work. Has 2 internet connections with LAN cables wired in every bedroom and wireless throughout

Its in a great location, the city is pretty awesome, etc, cost would be around 600 Euro a month each, looking to sign a 5 month lease probably. Want to move in ASAP, like next week,

Extra information : we are both mid twenties, plan to grind a good amount, but go out 2/weeks on average, I go to the gym a bunch, eat out alot. We will have an assistant who cooks/cleans and can take care of errands

PM me if interested, if you cant move in for a couple of weeks or whatever that would be no problem

Re: Generating Interest for Budapest Poker House

Bump

Still looking for a 3rd roommate - preferably another PLO reg , or another cash game or HSMTT reg who is interested in PLO. We're moving into the place tomorrow, and will post pics then. Suffice to say, it is very modern, spacious, in a great neighborhood, in a great, affordable city, and a great environment for crushing on the interwebs. Like the above post says, each room has its own flatscreen TV, queen size bed, ensuite bathroom with brand new jacuzzi bath/shower; all furnishings are new/modern. Please PM either me or "praetor" if you are interested.

We both play PLO...I play more midstakes 1/2-3/6 and my roommate plays higher 2/4-10/20. Ideally looking for someone playing similar stakes. Rent is very cheap though, after the cost of utilities and our assistant's fees the entire place is probably going to cost around 2000EURO/month. So with three people, it will be around 6-700EURO/mo.

In my particular case, I just went to the immigration office with my assistant who is fluent in hungarian. I basically sat there like a mope while she talked to the lady on the other side of the glass for 30 mins. At the end, I ended up spending 80$ on some stamps, 200$ on a health insurance plan and spending a few hours running around town collecting some documents. I had to prove to immigration that I had some money (showed probably proof of 10kUSD or so), I paid my landlord to make a fake lease (20EURO), and I had a friend write a letter saying she was teaching me hungarian (not true). Altogether, I would say I spent about 8 - 10 hours of my life getting a 1 year residency permit for Hungary/EU. I can honestly say that it would have been impossible without my assistant though. If you make it out here, I can refer her to you so that she could guide you through the whole process as well.
