0% if they are kept in your "Personal Investment Account," (you will have to pay income tax on profits when you take the money out of the account. Essentially you can delay paying the income tax).
Otherwise its 21%.

Pretty easy living car free. Tallinn is a rather small city(less than 500,000 inhabitants), mass transit +taxis for the nighttime will cover all your needs.

Re: Estonia

probably moving to estonia in spring 2013 (you can drop me a pm if you plan the same or are already there)

at the moment I'm thinking about the location. I enjoy nature (beach, hiking, ...) and prefer smaller cities (300-500k) over bigger ones. but there should still be decents parties and a "young population" (i'm 22 yo). what city would you recommend? tallinn? tartu?

thanks

Re: Estonia

rawie87, no need in a car if you live in the centre. Even from other parts it's 15-20 minutes by bus.
Shove, the biggest city is Tallinn (ca 450k) so nothing really to choose between) We have a beach, nice nature, night life, everything small European capital needs.

I forgot if we already talked about this in the thread, but never ever ever flag down a taxi or take one from a taxi rank. Always have the numbers of a couple of companies and call for one.

Cabs you can flag down or catch from ranks are often illegal and will very very overcharge you, sometimes as much as 10x.

You can look for a daily rent apartment, the prices for the nice apt in the centre start at 40-50 euros/day, try real estate sites city24.ee or kv.ee, choose Rent and enter this price as the starting one in appropriate field to see the apts.

Re: Estonia

I played there a little last year, I think it was €1/€2 and played a bit bigger. It only ran from about 9pm on a weekday though, they needed people to be knocked out of the tourney first. There're tournaments every day.

They also have a few bigger festivals due to Nordic tax.

I suspect there's at least one private game somewhere as when I played in Tallinn first the only game in town was effectively $5/$10 NL (well, mixed games but mostly PLO/NLHE) and I didn't see any of those regulars in the €1/€2 game. Could just be the economy though. Estonia lost 20% GDP in the crash.

Re: Estonia

Can anyone recommend a nice gym in the centre/oldtown or one not to far away?

Looked at a couple of websides but the gyms I found where either looking bad equipped and totally overpriced.

http://tulbispordiklubi.ee/ - a bit out from the city but good gym.

I myself prefer myfitness in the city centre - http://www.myfitness.ee/viru

Reval is in old town, have not been there but it is popular http://www.revalsport.ee/

I lived in different city and used car every day, after moving Tallinn I abandoned it because in Tallinn car is pointless.

Taxy is very cheap, €0.4-€0.6 per km and Tallinn is quite small anyway.

Re: Estonia

Any cool places (for any reason) worth visiting on the coast of Estonia (besides Tallinn)? Going sailing for three weeks in july-august, might start by going straight to Tallinn and then west from there heading towards the Gulf of Riga (and back), so there's room for a stop or two along the way, depending on how well the windvane (self-steering) we're building atm works.

Haapsalu? Saaremaa (which town/village)?

I'm curious why you think this and what a Finnish tourist on a sailing trip would expect to do in each city and why the vast disparity between the cities.

Wouldn't searching to see if there are any festivals/competitions along his proposed journey be much more interesting than going to a small town knowing no one on a random summer day?
