Well, in a poker forum, it would be remiss of me not to say 'poker' as a choice. Beyond that, if you are a fluent English speaker, there's always jobs Teaching English as a Foreign Language. There are various levels of qualifications too, so you can develop your career.

Some places are desperate for teachers and will take anyone fluent in English (no qualifications), others who can afford to be more choosy (usually because they pay larger salaries) require qualifications.

I really can't think of anything better than Poker.

All the other jobs you end up serving as cheap labor. Basically selling your skills that are worth a lot of money back home, for cheap on the road. Either that, or you are stuck somewhere for many months/years - which is living abroad, not 'traveling around'.

Very interesting about teaching English abroad, will have to look into this, sounds potentially epic but =D

Would have figured food industry would be somewhat difficult, suppose there's restaurants everywhere and there's not a huge learning curve with how to cook different foods.

Trying to get out of Australia!

I somewhat want to live abroad; idea I have atm is to travel about finding a place I like, than settling there for a few months exploring, then head out again whenever I feel like it.

two fields that have opportunities for travel are economics and engineering. you can hook up with a company that is international and get yourself all over the world on jobs/inspections/site surveys and such. i have a friend in each of these fields that does this.

Re: Best Job To Travel With?

W/out job qualifications I will second orange's suggestion of adventure sports. I have a friend who works 3 months in Uganda kayaking on the white Nile, then gets flown out to a school in Singapore to teach the kids sea kayaking for 6 months. Rest of the time he just wanders aimlessly around the world as far as I can tell.

If you want to work towards a qualification that will help you travel then that can be difficult as it is usually people that have moved up within a company that get responsibility for things.

Another option would be to work in the conferencing industry. That involves a lot of travel depending on the industry you specialise in.

Mining and Oil+Gas won't see you travelling much, but will you see with a lot of spare time to spend holidaying if you want.

Typically Oil And Gas workers do 3-6 weeks on site, then 3-6 weeks at home. There are quite a few of them who live here in Thailand on their 4-6 week breaks, but if you enjoyed travelling you could schedule a holiday every other month.

It also helps that the pay is astronomical and if you work in the right jurisdiction you won't owe any tax to anyone.

high class hooker would be a good job. English teacher is the main job for 3rd world countries but if that aint your scene then suba-diving instructor. My friend has a cool job which sees him travel alot, he sells gym flooring. maybe working as a free-lance writer or computer programmer would be ideal or something that allows you to work from home.

going back to western oz on a state sponsorship visa at the beginning of next year. I'm a vehicle body maker (basically welding) but i'll be going to look for work in the mines. Was going to head north to above broome. You think this is the right play or is going south to the gold mines the better option. Any inside tips about mines that cant get people so are taking on anyone? sorry for the thread de-rail OP
