Re: **Banking in Mexico**

Here is Bancomer's Fees and Commissions schedule from the bancomer.com website, which is where I was directed by online support when I asked them about international wire fees. I don't speak/read spanish very well at all yet so if someone could go over it and actually find the wire fees that'd be great, because after looking through it I don't think I found them.

Re: **Banking in Mexico**

Is it still pretty easy to open up a bank account on just a 6 month tourist stay?

I'd have a U.S. passport, some sort of proof of residence (do you need a bill, or is lease agreement sufficient?) and money of course.

I'm looking at Tijuana most likely.

What banks with branches in Tijuana have people found to be the most willing to open a bank account on just a tourist stay, and no FM3 visa or immigration papers?

Also, once having set up a bank account, is it still better to get funds off Poker Stars and into your bank account via a 3rd party like Neteller/Moneybookers, or are Mexican banks ok enough with gambling sites that you could just have Poker Stars do a direct transfer or wire transfer directly to your bank account?

For those that have cashed out of Poker Stars specifically in the last half year or so, what is the average time to receive your funds? Are there any factors that can make it tougher for Poker Stars funds to be received in Mexico?

The bank account was easy, bring Passport, signed lease, and you should be good, I live in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I have not withdrawn from Pokerstars yet as i am trying to get my SKRILL set up through Carbon Poker.. Once I complete a successful withdraw via SKRILL i will update.

Ok, well it's good to know the bank account set up is so easy.

Anyone, who has successfully withdrawn from Stars?

Would like to hear about it, and also the method you used?

Setting up a bank account and withdrawing is easy. No one should be having problems. You can do a Pokerstars transfer directly to your mexican account, or withdraw to moneybookers and withdraw to your mexican account. There is no issue. If you are in Baja mexico you can get a USD account very easily. IF you are in Playa del carmen you need $15k to open a USD account.

In Baja (Tijuana or Rosarito,) how much do I need to open a USD account?

Also, can a open an account in peso, and still withdraw to it from Pokerstars, or could I only withdraw to a peso account in the Stars - Moneybookers, Moneybookers - bank account way?

I can't answer the first question, as I am in Playa Del Carmen, but to answer your second question yes. We can only get peso accounts here, without and FM3 and $15k minimum balance, so we withdraw from Stars to our Mexican Pesos accounts. We are getting hit with exchange rates, and ~$23 in fees on each withdrawal. Same deal with moneybookers. Basically paying the wire fee, and getting whatever the exchange rate is.

However, this requires I pester my landlord for one of the hard-to-get utilities. I don't know why, but the USD version of their account requires a utility such as electricity/gas/landline phone in your name. So that's my new objective right now.
This will definitely be a viable option if the idea pulls through. Were you ever able to attain a USD account?

FWIW I do not get hit with a $23 fee if i cashout from stars to mexican account. I only get hit with that on MB cashouts

Where is Santander located in Rosarito? I've been told it's near blockbuster but google maps has it located somewhere else.

Also will Santander except my Telnor contract or do I need to wait for the actual bill?

Is there any way for an American to get a Mexican USD bank account without being a resident of Mexico?
