It does work. Pokerstars to MB to my USD bancomer account. Cost a $22 bank fee and that's it. No vig.

Woot woot. What city is your bancomer branch located in, and how hard was it to get that account verified with MB?

FWIW I do USD from stars to my USD MB. Then my MB USD to my mexican USD account with Santander.

Also you can attach other bank accounts to your Moneybookers, even U.S. ones. But you cant cash out to your attached US account because its tied to gambling.

So what's the value of attaching a US bank to MB if you can't cash out to it?

get a backer that will cashout for you.

get a check sent to you, which you then send to your bank.

trade stars $$ for cash.

or pay a vig going through moneybookers or direct transfer

San Jose del Cabo

Very easy to get the account.

I had passport, lease papers and utility bill. Finito.

Leave the US and never move back IMO. That place is for the birds.

Anybody have any advice for satisfying the utility bill requirement for stars? My rent includes all utilities... I had the internet switched to my name and showed stars the paperwork indicating this, but they were not satisfied and the actual bill wont get here for another three weeks or so. Any good alternatives? Have people gotten on stars without a utility bill? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Damn, how are you guys getting USD accounts down here. I arrived last night and went to both HSBC and Santander today. They both said they only open USD accounts for businesses. This was a law passed starting in 2011. I will keep trying different branches but looks like I will have to find one willing to break the law. Any recommendations?

The one we used wasn't in our name as everything is staying in the landlords name here too, Just had to have the address match the lease etc. They were very understanding about the fact that we weren't going to have anything in our own names any time soon at least. Basically just have your agent/landlord get you a copy of their last electric bill and email them that.

cashout by check went through. all is gravy. cashed out $1100 and got $1100.09.

Process:

Cashout by check on stars

Check from german bank, all in german, euro currency

Mailed from Ireland to Mexico, through USA, with FedEx (I had tracking info the whole process)

Got a call from FedEx in Tijuana asking for directions (I live like behind a bakery in a not well known condo complex, and directions are **** in a small beach town). Gave dude directions, he was at my house 2 hours later with check in hand.

Mail check from mexico to schwab bank account, signed for deposit only, with a note telling them which account to put it into.

It worked. bit of a hassle but is vig/fee/conversion cost free. Could be good for large cashouts or anything 5 figs probably wouldn't be a horrible idea to currency speculate a bit, as this is a transaction cost free way of doing it and the dollar has been shaky lately with election year and all (i think, don't really follow this moving to mexico)

So when you cash out by check CAD, it costs like $5 on a $2k transaction for processing. Did you get lucky on the currency swing from the time you cashed out to receiving it, or do they really charge no vig for a Euros check?

Also, does Schwab give you vig free on the Euros > $$, or do people incorporate Monex or Oanda into the equation somehow?

Sorry I thought you said you were in Cabo but I see now that you didn't say where you are. Anyways, if you are, the directions above apply and if not, find a Bancomer near you with someone who is the preferred client person/manager who speaks English and you should be set.

Instead of moving to Mexico, couldn't you just rent a cheap apartment in a border town, get an internet connection, set up a virtual server and play from the US (assuming you aren't too worried about legalities)? Is there any technical problem with this?

Managed to get my first wire transfer cashout this past week. Wire came very fast, and I withdrew the money from Bancomer in US$ with no problems. Not sure on how much I got charged in fees, I think about $30.

supposing you make more than your living expenses, is there a reason to send MB $ to Mexican bank instead of an offshore bank (where you would def have no problem getting accounts in whatever currency you want)?
