Why do you want a windowless room? Cheap price?

One of the places that has a lot of windowless rooms is Heaven @4 but it costs 2-3,000. I stayed there a long time ago, but I told them no way to a windowless room and got a room with a window.

There is a good place on Soi 20. If you walk down the Soi, it will be on your right side, before you reach the 7/11. It has outside seating and next to it is a massage place (possibly sexy massage, but not sure). I thought their cheeseburgers were great. Cost about 250-300 depending on the details, and you get no sides.

Thats expensive for a burger even in North America. I though Thailand was cheap! Just certain foods that cater to western diets I assume.

Thailand is a place where there are cheap alternatives that don't feel cheap. Unless you start to analyze things, you can be happy going with the cheap options available and not feel like you are missing out.

For example, Thai food is cheap and delicious but if you take a closer look, you realize that portions are much smaller, there are much more vegetables filling the plate, with a few mystery cuts of meat covered and overpowered by generous amounts of sauce. And making stuff on the street or some 'restaurant' with plastic tables and seats is not that expensive. On top of that, I doubt their food safety preparations are on the same level as USA. I've seen rats drink from the same buckets of water that your plate is being washed in at the street food stands.

But if you go to Thai McDonalds, or even try to buy chicken breast or other cuts of meat in the grocery store, it will be similarly priced or more expensive.

USA is a cost leader in damn near everything.

AIS worked better than I expected in Phuket, I would def consider that 'half decent portable internet', just wanting to know if there is an equivalent here in CM.
True Move H 3G+ is much better than AIS

I don't know about the rest of bangkok, but the traffic around sukhumvit is ****ing awful
Took me like half an hour in a taxi to get from soi 11 to soi 4 the other night
How do police/ambulances/fire trucks get around in emergencies? On that note, I haven't seen a single one of the latter two yet, what's the deal?

Haha, nothing wrong with Khao San road for a couple days, especially if it is your first time to Thailand or Asia. It's a great place to party it up and meet some people. Just don't stay there a long time. Would recommend getting a place on Soi Rambuttri as well cuz it's quite a bit quieter, laid back, but still right beside all the action. Rambuttri House was a good one.

theres nothing thailand about KSR, If you removed every tourist from tat street, all the shops bars and clubs would close down. Its just a tourist trap imo.

but hey each too there own. you can defo have fun if you go with the right people, and most of its in your head and what you make of it, but id rather go else were then ksr, as you will get a better "thai experience".

Ya, I see. I've read a lot about that wrt to brand name clothing and electronic, I just didn't realize it also applied to quality food.
So basically Thailand is uber cheap for rentals/property and services but standard or even above what we're used to in North America for consumer goods?

in my time in Thailand, designer branding didn't seem all that important there. no wear as near as I find in the UK.

Part of it is that you can't expect something that is not popular and/or local to the region to be cheap in that region. Raspberries are going to be expensive in Thailand, just as Papaya is expensive in the USA.

If I compare Thai night markets to Kmart/Walmart/Target/etc, I would say that Kmart/Walmart/Target have consistently higher and cheaper stuff than the Thai night markets. (not to mention they will have your size in the USA) There are occasional deals, but it's nothing special overall. It's mostly Euros who get screwed in overtaxed Europe that think Thailand has cheap prices.

As a very rough rule of thumb, you're right that Thailand has cheap services and expensive goods. Most visitors mostly buy services and local food and combined with good value on housing, it comes out to a good deal.

Any players living in Krabi, Ko Tao, Ko Pan Yang, Ko Samui, or phuket areas? I'm in Bangkok atm and can't breath. Was wondering how the air quality was down there. Any poker houses have room available?

Went to my first thai beach yday
My experience with beaches is limited to Spain mostly, but from the few dozen beaches I enjoyed there I'm struggling to find one that compared with ao nang yesterday
Nice water, nice sand, no litter, warm sea, barely anyone else there except at sunset (low season I guess)
Apparently it's not even the best beach in krabi, gonna check out railay tomorrow or something
I lucked out cause the weather was amazing, think that might be all the sun I get while I'm here though lol

Railay is much better than Ao Nang. Those two aren't even comparable.

Thai beaches are beautiful... almost... inspirational.

It is also worth paying more to go during off peak hours/longer hours/overnight/whatever to avoid the crowds and stay longer and relax. Overnight at Phi Phi > day trip to Phi Phi.
