Re: Ask us about Thailand!

Hey guys, just posting a little info for some of you who might be in the same spot as me. I'm Australian and have recently moved to Thailand/Asia given the upcoming ban on online poker we have here. I booked an airbnb as I plan on moving around, and am only using tourist visas for now. I sent Stars the airbnb invoice but they didn't accept it, so I started the process of trying to get a bank account on tourist visas, which wasn't that easy. Bangkok bank gave me a 'certified letter' form and asked me to take it to my embassy, the embassy wouldn't sign it but made me rewrite it on a statutory declaration form, pay 1760 baht, and then stamped+signed that. It basically just said my name, address in Australia and in Thailand, and my signature. The embassy didn't verify anything (not that I was lying), I took a picture of it before I gave it to the bank and sent it to stars, and stars actually accepted it.

Re: Ask us about Thailand!

yep turtles - thats the process for bank accounts. doesn't seem out of line with what myself and others have experienced in recent months.

Can also pay 100baht and get an actual bank statement from bkk bank, if you need that to open up whatever other online wallets/sites in the future

I've got bets with 3 overly optimistic estate agents in Pattaya that gambling and casinos will not be legal within five years, these guys are thinking it's gonna happen within 12 months from now. Including someone connected to the company who published that April fools article.

There are a few caveats such as, one government run casino in a 'zone' dedicated for tourists only wouldn't count for example.

No way it happens within 12 months but I wouldn't bet either way on five years. Lots of guys I know who are pretty connected feel that there is a very good chance in the next couple of years.

Re: Ask us about Thailand!

It was five years from the day the king passed away.

So even if you say 'no way' in next 12 months but a couple years after that, that would be 4/5 years from my bet date, so your more inline with my view than those i bet against who said within 2 (LOL) years of his death.

Plus with my clauses I'd say i am 99.5% guaranteed to win.

Re: Ask us about Thailand!

It makes too much sense to have a couple of casinos in some select tourist areas, hence my doubt it will ever happen..

Re: Ask us about Thailand!

Is there anyone living in Chiang Mai who has a room to rent? I know I am planning far ahead but I'd like to move there in December for a few months. I am hungarian, 29, just started again poker, currently playing NL200 but has a huge drive to climb up the ladder.

Page comes up with Access Denied, and indicated I don't have access to the paypal server.

Tried both 3bb and DTAC internet access and both don't work.

Re: Ask us about Thailand!

Checking out how to sell BTC in Thailand.

- bx.in.th , can sell at about 95500THB
0.25% fees plus small amount for bank transfer

- localbitcoins : 92475

- coins.co.th 92190, havent checked fees

- bitcoin.co.th 84200 (dafuq??)

Localbitcoins and coins.co.th seems to be about the same price, which is for some reason higher than a BTC in USD (91000THB).
Bx.in.th is MUCH better and bitcoin.co.th is a scam at this point, but both sites have the same owner. Weird.

Is there a something I didn't see properly with bx.in.th pricing and operation? Seems too good to be true.

Re: Ask us about Thailand!

It lags a bit, I've noticed the same thing. Check again coins.co.th is 91.8k now

Brief delay in how they display their rate, maybe browser caching too

Re: Ask us about Thailand!

I get that it moves a bit (right now 91.6k) but my point is that it's 3k to 4k less than bx.in.th. It's quite a big difference.
