The fees kick in at Wallet > Thai bank, I don't know of any ewallet that allows withdrawals in THB, so there's always the conversion fees. Neteller also doesn't allow you to set your bankaccount in USD if your Neteller currency is USD, so when you have a usd$ account at a thai bank it goes USD>EUR>USD

localbitcoins.com works fine, or coins.co.th

Ok, so a way needs to be figured to go from Neteller / Skrill / online wallets to money in Thailand somehow without paying some ridiculous fee.

Yeah something like this might be a cheaper solution than $10 + 7%.

Depends, work it out for different sellers. Maybe worse than 7%, maybe better, like 4-5% ish. Maybe no cost or make a profit if you post an ad and someone buys from you.

Yes. It's possible to keep USD on all of the ewallets avoiding conversion fees when withdrawaling from the pokersites in US dollars.

The screwjob takes place once it reaches these ewallets if you then so choose to withdrawal directly to your thai bank. You'll take ~5% conversion hit as it's forced to be changed to EUR or another available withdrawal currency other than US dollars and then a bit more of a hit when it's converted through the intermediary banks and reaches your thai bank in baht.

It use to be possible to directly withdrawal from the sites to your thai bank but as far as i know 888poker is the only one currently processing these bank wires. Stars left a few years ago and Party more recently.

Ok. Looks like I'll try figure out the ewallet -> Bitcoin thing and see how cheaply I can get that done.

So what is the best way to avoid these charges going forward. At the moment I play in usd on betfair, party and pokerstars and my neteller is usd and registered to my Thai address. I live in Thailand but I am from the UK and have euro and GBP bank accounts and debit/credit cards. I also have a UK address. Should I switch my poker accounts and neteller account to GBP or euros? What do you guys advise? I know the game currency at party is USD but is there any disadvantage to having the account currency in euros or gbp?

Any way you can register your neteller to your UK address, aren't gambling winnings tax free there? Would be easy to cashout to there and then send money from UK to Thailand.

Yes I was thinking about that. The only negative though that I can see is I play on stars.com and not stars.co.uk. I provided proof of living in Thailand to stars to be able to do that. Would it be a problem depositing/withdrawing from a neteller account registered to a uk address if my stars is registered to a Thai address?

As I understand it, Neteller / Skrill being in EUR is GTO for thailand. They require withdrawals to be in EUR. But it's a nightmare to change if you already have an account.

If you had this you could go Stars (USD) -> Ewallet (EURO) while getting Stars to do the currency conversion. 2.5% or whatever Stars takes is a lot better than 7%. Then just pay the $10 Ewallet fee to go from Ewallet -> Thai bank.

Does this seem plausible to anyone else? Any problems with it?

At some stages of the process of depositing and withdrawing addresses / locations have to match. Which addresses have to match what exactly at which stages is unique to every situation / combination of countries. In general I think depositing is less strict than withdrawing. Can email Stars and neteller and see what they say.

0% in the client? This has to be the bets method then. Stars USD to Stars EURO in the client, cashout to neteller then cashout to Thai bank for $10 fee. That has to be the way to go.

Yes, it's been posted in the thread a lot, a search is better for stuff about banking, visas, etc.

You can open a EUR wallet inside the client set as your primary currency and when you leave a table USD is converted at no fee. They apply a margin when depositing though if you don't deposit in your primary currency, so set it as primary currency first and deposit in EUR as well - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...ayers-1635439/

Has anyone done GBP to THB via western union? (Send as bank transfer to cash, pick up at local WU). On the face of it looks like a 3.5/4% total fee (fee + bad conversion rate) which is twice as good as ATM withdrawal.

Never used this service before though, not sure if there's any hidden caveats!

This will likely be my last withdraw whilst in Thailand so no need for me to set up a bank etc, just looking for cheapest option! Cheers.

You dont need to change. You can open few skrill/neteller accounts in different currencies. I have both in 4 currencies total. Just get silver or gold status.

Achieving that status is not easy for most people. To achieve silver status at neteller which allows you 1 additional currency , you need to transfer USD 50,000 to merchants per calendar year.

I've used WU a couple of times recently by using the WU app. It's fast and simple and GBP to THB works fine. I also think it's better rates than moneygram.
