This, i've bought baht at 4-4.5% for about 2 years here..., back in 2012-2013 I could get some for 3% but it went up because a tons of poker player who had thai account are now busto. I'd say that 80% of poker player who we're living in Thailand around 2012 are busto and now crying at how hard poker is in 2017.

It's impossible to find baht for under 4% these days.

10 euro fee with skrill on a 300e withdrawal? that's already over 3% on top of the conversion fees.
Most people are only looking for 5-15k transfers

Skrill € was +/- 1.50% the last 4 times I used it (Between 5k€ and 10k€).

(I'll happily sell bahts for skrill €+3%)

At the point of contact freeze it..the ball is 1 foot over the goal line..it wasn't even close.
Tom brady has 6 wsop bracelets..one more super bowl victory and he has 6 rings to go along with his bracelets.

I cant give any Tips for lamai as i prefer to stay on the North side of the island. I will arrive in samui in 2 - 3 weeks and stay there for a few months, so we could meet up there for a Beer or sth.
Thanks for your suggestions, I've found a place now, pretty good value, studio room 10,000 baht per month, close to the beach in Lamai,
yes shoot me a message when you're here and we'll meet for a beer

Catching up on the last week of posts...when did this become the transfer thread? Isn't there an area dedicated to that?

do I need any certain type of visa to get a bank account, or is simple visa exemption okay?

Petchaburi road - pros and cons of living here?

I can think of pro: close to RCA, quick-ish mototaxi to metro lines, if in taxi you avoid traffic jams along sukhumvit?
cons: feels kinda middle of nowhere and need a taxi to get anywhere

Some poker players lived there at Circle Condo, it's a nice building and Shock 39 is right on that road (afterhours club full of hookers).

I'd rather live on Sukhumvit road but it's ok, still very central.

Visa exemption is ok at Bangkok bank. So is tourist visa.

http://www.bangkokbank.com/BangkokBa...s/Account.aspx 'Required documents tab'

'Tourists include the following visa types: Tourist, Transit, Visa on Arrival, Exemption Visa'

Since you're American though there are other issues, banks require extra paperwork from the embassy. There's a 2+2er's girlfriend who can get you a bank account, it costs ~$100 but it's guaranteed and she's pretty cute http://bangkokhelper.com/

@boliver

Mid Petchaburi has very bad traffic, not better than Suk, so you should be close to MRT. Early Petchaburi is better traffic wise and has a lot of good cheap food cause its student area. Might be a bit far away from your preferred night activities though.

Lived in Circle Condo on Petchaburi end of Sukhumvit soi 3 and Petchaburi.

Food is hard to find in that area outside of a small market only open morning until 2pm. It's all street food, not super appealing.

Bit of a pain for getting to BTS or MRT as well.

I'd go with something on Sukhumvit instead given you are going to pay the same prices for both.

What do you guys use as a backup wifi connection here? True wifi is kind of up and down. I can't get a 2nd connection from dtac or somewhere bc of something with my apartment and using my phone is just ****, so slow.

Any advice? Is pocket wifi a thing here like in japan?
thanks guys

I find tethering my phone with a cable works fine. If i use the wifi hotspot it is lot more laggy. I am using an iphone 6 with Dtac 4g.

Did you realise that you have direct access to soi 11 by the back door at Circle ? And free shuttle to the BTS ?

I lived there too and one of my neighbor took like 3 month to realise

Using a cable changed my life with true, otherwise best to just get a mobile hotspot (I use that as a backup anyway).
