Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place to post but:

1) Can somebody tell me what the best/safest sites are for trying out a bit of Limit Holdem?

2) Are there any complications with signing up for these sites from a Thai ip?

I live in Thailand full time, but have banking in the US. Sorry for being a total noob, just thought I'd try to go right to the source on these things. Been playing fake money NL Holdem for a while with reasonable success, just curious about the real thing.

Thanks in advance!

Unless something's changed recently you can't play Bovada from Thailand, even with a Canadian account they told me I can't play here when traveling, although some people have done that without issues
*just realized you said VPN, can sites actually spot players using VPN?

Yeah don't do it unless you want to get your account locked and your funds seized. Bodog/Ignition is only accessible in Canada/States/China(?)

Just play when you go back to visit, too easy to detect VPN as they use shared ip addresses, DNS leaks when you disconnect, and a plethora of other potential issues

Stars seems like the place to go for you

Thanks for all the feedback, guys.

So it sounds like pokerstars is the only safe option then?

Do you know if there's any issue with creating an account from within Thailand (not sure if it would clash with US banking info). Or could one use a VPN to create a US account, and then abandon the VPN after that while playing in Thailand?

I'm also reading here that Party Poker is now open to Thailand and Malaysia?

Wondering if it's possible for non-Thais living in Thailand to deposit money and play from here.

can a tourist simply get the normal true move h sim at the airport, or do i have to get the special "tourist sim" with special farang prices?

It was never closed to Thailand, you just can't deposit with a thai bank card, have to use skrill/neteller/entropay or do a swap with someone.

I like the "now" in that sentence.

It was only back in 2008 when you needed a VPN to play on Party in Thailand.

Isn't the "farang" price like 300bt for 30 days unlimited data? I think it's pretty reasonable.

Cool, thanks guys. I may have gotten my dates mixed up. Sifting through a lot of kind of sketchy looking sites and trying to figure out what's current.

So assuming you get some money deposited with Party, do you need to use a VPN when playing from Thailand? Somebody else said bodog/ignition wasn't worth the risk because of needing to use a VPN.

What would be the main pro/con of Partypoker vs Pokerstars?

No VPN needed, because it isn't closed to Thailand signups. Bovada though is closed tho to those outside the US.

If that's the case, then ya, go to 7-11 and get an AIS one.

Am i the only one to think that post is ironic from someone calling out broker poker players.
Seriously dude spend 10$ for your internet instead of price hunting and limiting your smartphone usage for something so trivial.

Sound like to me you ll save nothing possibly spend more and will complicate your life trying to save a trivial ammount.

Go to 7-11 buy a sim card. Spend 400 bath for one month of Internet with like 1gb fair use.
I don't see what you are trying to save.

Didn't know there was a special tourist sim. Should just be able to buy a regular sim at any mall or mobile shop.

AIS has a internet package I use that's like 259 baht for 2GB (3G), lasts 30 days.
