Anyone else got better results from this garbage company?

Re: Ask us about Thailand!
Anyone recently researched the various 3G options? What should I get?
I want 3G stick that works anywhere in Thailand with high download limit (preferably unlimited). Not too concerned about price if plan is fully specked.

Re: Ask us about Thailand!
I have truemove h prepaid which is quite fast, up to 4.5mbps according to various Speedtest.
Ran out of balance and put in my old ikool prepaid (tot reseller), and it got me 4.6mbps while before it never got any higher than 0.6.. Will test it again over the course of today if they keep up the speed, they are much cheaper and also you can just top up from their homepage.

Five hours in the airport in Singapore.... any suggestions to brighten this Visa run?
(They won't let me book the later flight which gives me 90 minutes there. Is that not enough time to walk off one plane and on to another at that airport? Anyone ever book those close times separately and risk it?)

I wonder are those ladies knowledgeable about Sinaaporean history and culture. Maybe they could enlighten as they brighten my day.
I wonder how would they call out to an airport toilet?

Re: Ask us about Thailand!
Interested in potentially moving to Thailand from Canada. I'm a Canadian citizen graduating from University in May. I'm looking to grind full time and heard Thailand is a good time, as well hoping to make use of the favorable currency exchange and ideally build bankroll. What's the currency exchange like with USD-baht? Are the banks hard to deal with? Say I got money wired to my Canadian account, would it be difficult to access in say Bangkok? What does is cost to live there? Does anybody play basketball? What's the poker community like? Do people speak English? Is it troublesome to grind online there? What sort of taxes would I have to pay if grinding online was my only source of income? I smoke marijuana regularly, are laws super strict on that? Information would be much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Ask us about Thailand!
sounds like you're mostly interested in BKK, so i'm not gonna be a super help, but i'll do my best:
access to your money in a CA bank account should be fine. withdrawal fees are going to be outrageous, probably. back when US players could play, the best way to access funds was Schwab account. now US players have funds wired from pokersites to their thai bank account.
the thread has a *lot* of information on the costs of staying here, but the breakdown is pretty simple. you can get a lot more value for your money in many areas, pretty much any area that involves manual labor. (maids, cooks, massage, prostitutes, medical care) and for the size and variety of a big city, BKK is a good value. the same is true of the beach areas. but if living cheaply is your goal, assuming cost of living is similar in CA to US, you're not making that great a move.
move here for the women, or the weather, or the culture, food, adventure, poker community. moving here to cut down your costs is rarely that good of an idea.
dunno if bkk guys still play basketball, but i will point out that phuket guys play 2-3 tiems a week. we also play 2 days of beach volleyball a week (at a private club, not on the beach) 2 days of football (not american football) a week. and there are various spearfishing/squash/tennis/badmitton/ping pong activities as well.
also, the phuket 2+2 super 6 (6 man football) team won it's first league match 11-0 yesterday. AFAIK no poker community is as diverse and prolific in it's sports as the phuket community.

the airport does a free city bus tour if stopover more than 4 hours. that was 3 years ago so you would need to double check they still do it but i would assume they do.

I don't know how you can say it's not significantly cheaper.
- Going out for beers and some food in Canada is $30 at minimum, it's maybe half that in Thailand (500 baht is reasonable for some decent food and a few beers), and just as good if not better.
- Renting a halfway decent apartment in Canada is $800 / mo at minimum, you can get a better apartment in BKK for about $500-$600 / mo.
- Local food, taxis, transit, massages, etc, all way cheaper than in Canada
I would say you're saving at least 33% (more if you're not in BKK) for the same quality of living amenities, but a much higher quality of life. You can live quite well on $2K a month, in Canada you'd be in poverty with that income.

Re: Ask us about Thailand!
I lived in Ko phangan quite nicely for about 1500$ a month. Nice house, motorbike, at least 3 times a day dinners outside the house, massages, party, training and relaxing. Good times..
