But dude, Thailand is a 3rd world country where people don't even follow road signs and there are tuktuks and stuff. I'm sure they don't even know how to use computers at Immigration and don't care about drugs, either. Saw tons of people smoke up at Fool Moon Party.

ya man the gas threw me off for quite awhile

people on here like to downplay the language barrier in thailand for some reason, i thought it was really difficult to get an answer to even a simple question from people at the airport who you would think would be around english speaking more than most thais

I don't know if every rainy season is like this in Thailand, but last year when there was record flooding, I still thought that the 'rainy season' was no big deal. It mostly rained after dark at night, the days were sunny but not scorching hot, and the rain during the day was usually a 1 hour quick downpour that was great for cooling things off. If that's a 'rainy season', I'll take it.

When I was in Krabi last month it was ok, but I was talking to some Italian guy who was really pissed off because it had barely stopped raining for an entire week.

We had 5 days here where it rained off and on throughout the day, but the last 2 days have been sunny. I don't think anyone really considers Samui to have a "rainy season" as such, just random flooding events rather than an extended rainy period.

Yo Ebbfs I know that complex but cant think of the name right now. I didn't know they did month-by-month rentals. How much are you paying? I like that location, its not the best but its pretty good. Have you got a gym sorted yet?

I think it is pretty normal scam, it happened to a friend of mine last month too. That was also going from the airport.

Hey I am based in phuket.. Just wondering since I seen the story about the guy getting caught with weed. There is this reggae bar close by and they seem to sell quiet openly as in you can smell as you enter and stuff. Do these places get raided a lot or is a blind eye turned to them? Anyone with info thanks

When they openly sell weed (or other stuff), it means they either bribe the police directly, or by once in a while ratting out a farang customer, who then have to pay a big bribe.

i believe i know the place you're talking about, and i've never heard of anyone getting busted there, but don't get too comfortable, it's still pretty risky... and make sure you have access to a decent chunk of THB in case something goes wrong.

Ya you're right 3 month min. I misunderstood her so I bailed on Apus today. I'ts by far the nicest building I've seen yet though and the prices are really cheap for the quality you get, but I'm not ready to commit 3 months to Patts yet until I've at least had a week here. So I moved into a place a couple blocks away (much cheaper, no pool/gym) but great value while I keep looking around and month to month with only 1 month deposit.

So what location is THE best in your opinion? I'll go check it out ASAP. It's great not being tied down. I can sit back relax now and just take my time, looking at a place her, a place there in my spare time.

So I come out of Big C with 17 640ml beer, 50 pack red bull, 24 pack **** tickets, 18L of water 3L soda, huge bag of bedding/towels. Taxi guys ask if I need taxi I say yes expecting them to flag a car. No dice, they're loading all this onto scooters, 2 scooter operation lol.

Best location depends on what your after. If you want to be right in the thick of things then something near walking street is best. If your planning on getting an education visa and want to stay here long term and be close to nightlife but not around heaps of tourists then Apus is almost perfect in terms of location. 100m to supermarket, 100m to language school, theres a gym 2 minutes walk from there which is adequate as well. Also heaps of motor bike taxis and baht buses leave from Big C and go straight to central shopping center and walking street so if you want to go out its no problem (baht bus by the way are those blue utes with people sitting in the back, 10thb to go anywhere). I live in pretty much that exact location and have no need for a car or motorbike.

Edit: Also if you want to go to BKK theres a place that has 10-12 seater vans that go every day, every half an hour for 150 baht about 200m up the road as well. It'll drop you near victory monument BTS which BKK people will tell you is a good place to get dropped off. Then on the way back they will drop you at big c as well.

how much is your cheaper place? furnished?

that other place (Apus i think) is $600 a month for the cheapest?

ive heard you can get decent furnished places in pattaya for $250-$300, you looked at anything in that price range?

I think ebffs is obv looking in the baller range considering the prices for that apartment. I'm interested in what K2D is saying what are you seeing in Pattaya for the 250-300 range thats the real test.

I lived in this place in Koh Samui for like 5 months and looking back it was a pretty good deal.
