i havent lived there but yeah pretty decent i guess... you have the night markets around huai khwang, it's lively at night, cheap restaurants open til 6am, gogo girls walking around browsing clothes stalls after work, etc.

then to go out you're close to ratchada, soi 2 and soi 8 have a bunch of bars and afterhours clubs. major shopping mall nearby. and not too far on MRT to sukhumvit

regarding cashing out with Neteller card on ATM in thai (usd account).
i have checked it a couple of times and pay 5% vig all up incl fees. Not great. Not bad.
make sure to use green or purple bank. avoid yellow bank since you end up paying over 10% vig due to some USD-GBP-THB conversion thing.

Good info,

I ordered my neteller +card last week and still waiting. They said it can take up to 3 weeks. I'll be happy if my card arrives one day..

ill be eating my though alot of jungle, if you nom saying

never been to the peans, but I would assume that Cambodia is is easier for n00bs to travel, as so many backpackers go through that place. Cambodia is pretty cheap too, esp if your not in the main cities. can get a bed for $4~ a night, beer for 50cents. you get moronic 18 year olds who go back packing on there own all over the world. if you have common sense, you will be fine in most places.

meals for about $1.25

I'd def pick the Philippines and it's not even close. Don't move to Cambodia if you're a noob. I think it's a lot different to travel through the country than to actually live there. I wouldn't feel safe grinding the live games in the casino on a regular basis (even though they are ridic soft). People get robbed/killed leaving the casino and the Cambodian "regs" all seem like criminals. Plus, the internet sucks, it's really hard to find decent food anywhere, the streets smell and it's dusty, and the expats living there are some of the scummiest in the world.

Move to Thailand first. Then go there on your visa run and decide if you want to stay long term. My guess is you wont want to.

Hey guys,

I live in a grindhouse here in Philippines and im gonna go to Bangkok on the 8th till 17th for business but I will obviously be partying quite some too. Would be cool to meet up with some of the grinders over there. Let me know if there are some weekly meets or something somewhere?

Looking forward to it anyways

ouch, I would never drive a scooter in Thailand my self, just not worth the risk. Very important to check our insurance polices before you sign up for them, esp if your doing scuba diving and chit, see whats covered. Hope it all works out for him

easy to say when you don't live in phuket

other than that what you said is spot on. if you're doing scuba diving etc make sure you are covered. if it's not covered in the standard insurance you should be able to add the cover for some fee

Yes you can open an USD account and withdraw dollars.
The ones I checked are Kasikorn, Krungsri ( Ayudhaya) and Bangkok bank.
The fees are quite expensive though..

you can use ATMs anywhere in the world and pay in shops at least in thailand. i haven't tried booking any flights or anything with it. you can't deposit to sites with it at least

Once outside the city both counties are easy to get around although the PI has a but more infrastructure. For cities I would go with PP since it's smaller, hence easier to navigate. Both equally dangerous but just don't go walking around drunk at 3am outside of the bar districts.

It is a visa debit card and not a credit card. You can pay in any store/restaurant who has the visa sign and this only if you have enough funds in your account (debit card!). If you want to pay online you need to apply for K-Web shopping card which is a virtual visa card for online payments.
You can't apply for a visa credit card without a work permit I've been told in my K-bank branch. Maybe they are still willing to give you one if you put some money in guarantee or open a fixed deposit account.
I will ask them next week.
