would Thailands finest stop me if I bought say 2-4 litres of Vodka over from duty free.

You only allowed to bring 1 litre. Anyone bought more then 1 litre w/o problems

I've brought several handles of booze through BKK without a problem. There's a very tiny chance of getting caught. Even if they find out it would probably be a small fine. Obviously if you're bringing a huge suitcase of Cristal or something there might be an issue.

There's a new airline called Lao Central Airlines that does BKK-VTE round trip for ~$200 last time I checked. The flight is about 80 minutes and is a lot more convenient than flying to Udon. Obviously it's more expensive but it's up to you to decide if it's worth it.

Fair enough, it think it was close to that price in £££'s when I went, hence I hopped over the border to Udon.

billy your right im not gonna go till im there, think im gonna try PI first since thats where id like to be, if i cant find a decent place in safe area in my price range ill go to cambodia because the visas are so easy and its so cheap, then if i dont like it (most likely from what ive read because i wont think its safe enough) ill head over to thailand and hop on one hell of a long train ride every 6 months

though im being told on another forum that you cant get 2 visas in cambodia anymore and you have to go there every 3 months not every 6, sigh
