Ya 2-3% fee, but the actual exchange rate is going to be often more than 2-3% lower than what a bank would give you and even FOREX broker, so it balances out. VISA/MC can offer highly competitive FOREX rates because of the massive processing volume they handle. At least that's been my experience when traveling before.

i got accounts at green and purple bank

green bank's online banking is much better than purple's imo. fees for receiving international wires were the same for both last i checked

anyone ever flown to the capitol of laos? about how long would that take? couple hours? $80 for round trip?

someone mentioned this as an option in the PI thread but i thought it would be better to ask it here

right now if thats the case then the only things holding me back from thailand would be the no english and not having any hookup on smokeable green substance, is that easy to find over there in pattaya or bangkok?

For your first time visiting I would suggest smoking green in thailand is just asking for trouble.

K2D, why dont you think about cambodia? Phnom Penh Fits all your requirements, much easier visas, cheaper, and has a super soft live poker scene, where if you have been pro in vegas will no doubt crush.

being as i am the crazy person i am, i am now in fact doing just that

so far it is sounding pretty good, visas sound super easy (and cheaper), everything is very cheap, has live poker

how dangerous of a place is it though?

theres a cambodia thread that would give u that info. seriously though, why dont u just come to asia. Thailand 1st then lao and camdodia. If then you wnat to go to PI or china or whereever then go there.

You can ask all the questions in the world but you wont know where you like bests until u have experienced a few places

and ye u can get weed easy anywhere in thailand but dont start off taking such an uncessary risk wherever u go. pretty ridic thats one of your main concerns right now lol

and not knowing thai is just a non existent conern also. Ofcourse its better for a variety of reasons if you can speak thai and interact with everyday thai ppl
