I am looking for a poker roommate in Seoul. I'm a white guy from California, 25, but I have a couple years' experience in Seoul teaching, and breaking my bones playing soccer and getting surgery. I am arriving back in Seoul on July 8th, and I'm looking for housing, for 3-6 months. Does anybody on this board have a room available, or know someone who does? Are there poker sickhouses in Seoul?

As a housemate, I won't mess with your stuff, and I'll pay 300,000/mo for a decent room. I also really like to grind the "1/2" game at Walker Hill! US Citizen... can't play poker online, but I can go to the casino in Seoul that Koreans aren't allowed to go to.

find me on facebook (nmoorek), or send me a PM!

I have trouble taking his article seriously. The gov't issue is probably correct as it usually is but otherwise he just throws out way too many bullets without backing it up.

My experience with English teachers in Korea: they're not very smart.

Do I feel like I can write an article about my experience blasting the English system, teaching system, and everything that's going on in Korea? **** no. I feel like he's doing the same. He should write about something specific that he knows about.

Anyone want to PM me some good private games 5/10+? I'm here for a family issue but I might just stay in Korea after it's done. I was a regular at a few games at Apgujeong but I'm not sure if any of them are still open.

In Seoul right now indefinitely, gotta grind some poker here away from the US.

If anyone has any $$$ on Party/Ipoker/stars, let me know I'm looking to deposit some funds, i can probably trade you for some cash here.

Also if anyone has a room available im looking for something < 1.5mil KRW. beats paying 100k/night at hotel. Haha too lazy to start looking myself just yet. White, 22. pm me if anyone has anything available. or if anyone just wants to go out sometime.

i really don't see any value in playing that with 30-40 entrants and only a $100 prize for top 5. odds are prob better in blackjack imo.

oh and then you have to play an hour of cash which means you give 80$ back.

well YOU might give it back

infinite value means nothing to you?

hourly is probably higher just playing the cash games, than the freeroll.....

yea your hourly should be much higher playing cash games and your ICM is terrible if there are like 30 or 40 players or whatever fighting it out for one short buyin.

i meant to write you give 20bux back in rake and you take home 80 if you just have a breakven sess for an hour. i dont see any value at all in playing the freeroll.

5 places paid, not 1

Actually, after playing for the third time it seems like it might actually be detrimental to regular play. All of the Asian players play super agressive with 3-4 all in calls with top and middle pair.

All of the regular players were just waiting at the cash games for people to bust out and come play with them. The games get super loose and you're able to win with top pair a majority of the time. Not to mention the fact that there were a bunch of new dealers coming off of the tournament not taking rake.

im a walker hill reg obv i know that the freeroll pays 5 people not one. i meant your prize for winning the freeroll is a short buyin. if just do the math that is a pretty ****ty prize (~35 players and 500$ prizepool) even if you believe your tourney edge is quite large your chips are only worth 16-20 bucks or so when the tourney starts.

fwiw i only played the freeroll once when i was really drunk and hungover and shoved like every hand and cashed. that was fun and i tilted a lot of people i think thats the main value of it.

So I'm in the process of changing my location on stars. I've been in Korea for a little while now and I sent them a bank statement, bill and ID card but they told me I need to get a Notarized Translation because all of the documents are written in Hangul.

Has anyone else had to get a Notarized Translation? I found some online ones but I'm wondering if there is anywhere around Seoul that does it??

What's the rental like in Seoul? I heard you got to put a really big deposit. Would I be able to get short term contracts (3-6 months) and a decent fully furnished room at a budget of $1500 at a nice area? Any poker without crazy rake here?

At 1500$ per month you can get a decent room but you usually have to put a 10k deposit (some are 5k). You can definitely find short term contracts but of course 1year+ are easier to find.
