lol wat? Are you looking for something special/specific? Pretty hard not to find a place to take a date in these areas. I used to take a lot of dates to Castle Praha outside Gangnam station but not because I thought they would enjoy it, but because I love beer and girls I date must be able to handle it as well.

Seriously though just walk around for an hour one night and you'll find roughly 10 places per block that are appropriate.

I went to 7 luck in the Hilton near Seoul station about 2 months ago and they had a poker room, it wasn't that big, but there was a sign into the entrance that said it was sponsored by the APT. I haven't been back since, but was told by a friend that the poker room was no longer there as of a month ago because of some contract issues. So really I have no clue what the deal is with that is. I just realized I could call them and ask if they still have a poker room and figure it out...will do that tomorrow

7luck at coex and 7luck at hilton are both closed due to contract (but rumor has it 7luck coex might re-open soonish)

walker hill is now the only legal casino, but they generally only have 1/2's and a 2/5 and rarely a 5/10 or bigger

u boys need to come to walker hill so we can get a 10/20 or 5/10 going, then when i get drunk we can go to clubi. which i'm willing to do tonight (sunday night) btw.

sounds like a plan, I think I'd prefer 5/10. If I lost 5bi @ 10/20 before going out clubbing I'd be a little too bitter.

Can anyone tell me about the visa options for full time grinders from developed countries on the 90 day visa waiver list that'd like to stay 6 months to 1 year?

Are there agencies that can arrange this?

I would probably just take a weekend in Japan or China every 3 months and then come back for the new 90 days. I'm not sure if there is another option if you're not working, studying, or sponsored in some other way.

I'm just looking for some noteworthy/interesting/hidden/great service type places. I realize there are a million restaurants/bars in the area (and I've had good luck just walking around) but I'm looking for suggestions on people's favorites.

Greetings gents, I am awaiting a visa to come over to Korea and work (non poker, non ESL) and have a few questions. First off, I'll be living in Uljin which is 5 hour drive east of Seoul, which kinda sucks because I am definitely going to be visiting Seoul whenever I get the opportunity.

So here are a few questions:

How lax are the Korean authorities when it comes to downloading music (I'm anal retentive about that kinda thing, don't ask)?

How cheap are electronics? I don't have a camera and am wondering if I should get one before leaving or get one while I'm there.

How easy is it to game women if you don't speak a lick of Korean? I am going to learn the language, just don't know any yet.

Everyone downloads music/movies without hesitation.

Big-ticket electronics (dSLR cameras, laptops, TVs) are generally the same or more expensive than in North America. Local products (Samsung, LG, etc.) can even cost more in Korea than in the U.S. Japanese cameras (Nikon, Canon) cost more because of heavy import taxes. Probably better to buy at home.

In Uljin? Extremely difficult because of the lack of English and conservative nature of the small towns. Most girls with a more liberal mindset who would be interested in dating foreigners are studying/working in Seoul.

In Seoul on weekend trips? Probably still pretty hard (especially for the first few months.) It really depends on having Korean friends and knowing where to go. Having money would certainly help, especially for casual dating. Dating is different here, especially by western standards of casual dating/hooking up.

Edit: Basically you should learn the language if you're going to be here for 2+ years. Less than that is probably not worth the time beyond reading/writing and basic practical expressions.

I would not have a problem with visa runs but I don't know how acceptable it is to the people at immigration. I know from people that tried it in Hong Kong and got told by immigration after two times that they'd get their entry refused if they tried it again.

The only other option I have is a working holiday visa, but that might be a bit too much of a hassle.
