I don't think the Korean government is gonna give on this anytime soon. There are really only two acceptable things for "patriotic koreans" to do in the world....study and work~ From age 7 til death, pretty much. Giving them distractions beyond soju and overpriced grilled dead animals is simply not gonna happen any time soon. I mean, calendars show Saturday in a different color, since people are expected to work at least 1/2 day on Saturday (and 1/2 of 16 hours is still 8....lol)

Plus, I'm sure the Lottery is nice little earner for the government...wouldn't want to cut in on that, either.

Ok, I"m gonna go way out on a limb here, and ask you good people for a tiny favor.

I got an email from stars today, where I do have an account but never deposited any money in it...it says, if I play one single hand of real money, at any stakes, I can get in this free freeroll tourney with, oh-so-many thousands (i forget exactly) of money, etc.

So what is the smallest amount to play a single hand, 2 cents? If some chivalrous person would transfer the smallest bet possible into my account, and I went on to win any money, I would give you a full 25% of my winnings.....risk 2 cents for a potential win of thousands....

Or barring that, would someone just sell me like man-won (8 bucks or so) and I will go to the bank and deposit the cash in their korean atm account for it.

Alvin,

I'm in the same boat, but was lucky enough to cash for .11 cents in a freeroll this morning. I then signed up for an .11c trny and was immediately issued a $1 Million Dollar Freeroll 90 person SnG satellite ticket where the top 9 win. I was lucky enough to win a seat.

IMPORTANT: In order to get a ticket , you must first choose whether you will play in a cash hand, or play in a cash trny. I chose cash trny since .11c is the cheapest. (In order to play in a ring game you need more than that to sit down, of crs). You choose this from the Challenges popout on the right side of the PS client, or by clicking the target symbol on the tables. Also click on the other challenges. .02c SnGs, .11c trnys, and .25c spin-n-gos are the cheapest to fulfill the daily challenges, when they are listed. to earn the Poker Cash Giveaway Tickets.

The $1 Million Dollar Freeroll is on 20 Mar, 0204 hrs. It says max 100,000 players so a seat is worth at least $10. 93%+ of the field wins something, but 1st place is 20K GTD.

Not sure if you've done this already, but an easy way (besides someone sending you change) to have a chance to get small $ in your account, is to sign up for Pokerschoolonline. Do the Beginners Bankroll challenge- you immediately get a .10c SnG trny tkt. Each challenge gives different rewards, from school pass tickets (for sat trnys), a .50cent tkt for taking a SnG quiz (use this tkt at a 9player SnG), etc. Do the "Chip and Chair" challenge and other challenges listed on the right hand side of the website under POKER BONUS. If you want to save time, the answers/cheat sheets are in the pso forum.

Also, do the "Scratch and Match" tickets. You get 7 scratchoffs per week . I've won numerous school pass tkts, Big Bang Trny tkts, small cash etc.

Also, compete in the Open League/Premier League. Prizes depend on how many VPPs you earned but its an easy couple bucks or more at the end of every month with the chance to win up to $5k.

I know that some players are pretty apprehensive about telling strangers their PS sn, let alone doing transactions, even in person. Mainly because the online gambling issue, whether its gray for us foreigners, or maybe not so gray for the locals, some don't want to take a chance. Although, I know some are just embarrassed about their sharkscope stats, and don't want anyone to know how much they have lost, lol. A player at WH refused to tell us his sn, saying he didn't want us bumhunting him, lol.

I forgot to add in the previous post:

Also register for the PSO Live Training. Its the easiest way to get School Pass Tkts. And also play in the PSO Home games, they are truly soft as most are just learning. I won $11 Tkt last week. I always take my tickets to a 15min Time bomb trny, and always cash something, little over $12 last weekend.

Ref number of winners, I was looking at the Award Structure in the lobby, it shows much more winners than 30-50k stated in the following announcement:

Here's PS announcement:

PokerStars announces $1 million freeroll

PokerStars today announced details of a new $1 million freeroll, with a chance for every PokerStars player to qualify, and win a first prize expected to be $20,000.

Not only that, but between 30,000-50,000 players will finish in the money, from a starting field of 100,000. So on the one hand; you've got a good chance of reaching the money. Looked at another way, if you're going to win big, you may as well do it properly. Against 99,999 other players for example, each of them eager to stop you.

Either way this is one of the biggest events we've ever hosted. Here's how to play the freeroll, which takes place on Saturday March 19.

First you need to qualify, and every PokerStars player will get two chances to do that. Starting today March 7, at 15:00 GMT (10:00 ET), you can win your way through via one of the special 90-man Sit & Go's, and there are two ways to get hold of a ticket to play them - one through the Challenges window and the other by making a deposit...............................cont'd

I need one of you pros to play for me! YugiohPro, Urban Lights, etc. HELP!!!

Who'd be at Seoul during that period when WSOP will be held at the same time!

Good point. Numbers should definitely be lower than last years 241 then.
But maybe thats not such a bad thing for the recreational players.

Bunch of pro's from the circuit were here last year as usual, Elky , Argawal, etc., and 4 made the FT:

Jason Mo (1st place) Pro
Bryan Huang (2nd) Pokerstars Team Pro
Celina Lin (4th) Pokerstars Team Pro
Dong Kim (7th) Pro

Maybe a local can take it down this year.

@Edgelooker
I'm a little lost here...I honestly know very little about this stuff. You need me to do something that will help me maybe get into some satellite or something?

It might be possible...is that Grenwich Mean Time or what? As you'd imagine, I'm in SK and also would have to get set up properly first...I only use the web over wifi......I'm pretty good at poker (really!), but the problem with these things is the style of all-in play that many people take at low-levels.

MSG me for my email address or Kakao ID and we can go from there if you want to work something out.

Just wanting to let you and everyone know that you can get a sit-n-go ticket for the $1M Freeroll Satellite, for as low as a penny.

1. Once you have $ in your account, pull up Challenges window from the lobby and choose your task, "Play one real money tournament" is the one to choose.

2. Register for a real money tournament. Once tournament starts you will be issued a sit-n-go ticket.

These penny trnys all listed in the lobby under ANNOUNCED right now: (Of course I'm using our local Korea time, lol)

Mar 13, 0535 .01 Jackpot Freerolls (pw is posted online an hour before trny starts just google it)
Mar 13, 2325 .01 Sunday Storm Sat (no pw needed of course)
Mar 14, 0005 .01 Sunday Storm Sat
Mar 17, 0605 .01 Jackpot Freerolls

The $1M Freeroll is being held on Mar 20, 0204 hrs., so plenty of time.

The other stuff on Pokerschool online I talked about above is an easy way to get small $ in your account for free, without ever having to make a deposit.

Is there a guarantee for the main? In jeju for a bit and maybe wanting to check this out. Also 4day main.... Really optimistic for turnout? Or is it realistic to get that many people?

Hey guys I'm heading to APT Daegu. Wondering like Emiya if anyone else is going. I'm not sure what to do on the hotel front. I'm pretty useless when it comes to looking up hotels/where to book. Ideally I'd like to find a place close. Not really wanting to spend the 140-160k won a night at inter burgo. Anyone got suggestions?

There's a bunch of motels around 동촌 (Dong Chon) park which is a couple of minutes from the casino by taxi. It's probably walking distance but I imagine it would be a good 20 minutes or more. There's also a Starbucks and a bunch of other chain cafes three. On the weekend motels are probably 50,000 a night.

I'm sort of thinking about the DongDaegu Bus terminal area for motels. It's where I get in the city/where I'll leave. Cabs are like $6-7 bucks a trip. Maybe I'll just go there. I remember there being plenty of motels around it.

Not much participation in the $200+15 Qualifier 1 Seat GTD either. Only 12 entries (+5 rebuys), ended up being an overlay, since stars paid out $3936 (for seat and hotel).

The winner won entry by the $22 satellite. A very nice ROI!

$1379 is still steep for 5 nights at WH though.

Really it's like a 7 minute walk...it's really close, and in that area there are many restaurants, cafes, parks along the river, even some amusement rides and games. Those motels are dirt cheap, even on weekends you can probably get one for 25-30 a night, and 20 a night on weekdays is possible. They waaayyyyy overbuilt that area at some point in the past and most of those places are empty most of the time. Typical "love motels" which, in my experience are usually well-kept up, and really pretty good places to stay.

There is a subway station closeby too, so actually you could subway it downtown easily.

Dongdaegu station area is, basically, gross. Dirty and unappealing and there isn't much there either. And you will pay more and have to deal with the taxis each day too, instead of nice walk along the river and through the park...

Just curious about this... A casino employee was playing at the poker table to keep the game going until more people arrive, at which time he will then leave. (Mr. Song himself has also done the same). But my question is, are they playing with "house money" ? I'm not sure if it really matters anyway.

Nah, man. Props play with their own money. They get paid daily for fixed amount.

Thanks AguaPorFavor. I had to look up prop, never heard of it. I heard of shills of course. I hope "props" earn a good living wage as it would seem they could earn more by just playing poker full time (since they are usually very good players).
