How easy is it to get by with only English in Portugal in general?
I'd imagine one should be fine in Lisbon but have more problems in more rural areas?
How is the organic food situation in Portugal?
Do you guys have amazon? Can you order a lot of articles of daily use online without any Portuguese?

Left Lisbon on Thursday. Now in Porto.

IMO Porto > Lisbon. If nightlife is really important to you, then Lisbon is superior though.

I only visited Lisbon and Porto, but I got by on English. As for organic food, I remember looking for a normal grocery store in Lisbon and accidentally stumbling into a health food store.

Agree with trap. I've been having no trouble using English as my first language and Spanish as my backup language

It's a luxury you don't have in most of Spain.

Moved into apartment in Lisboa(Chiado) today, gonna stay for ~10 weeks to figure out if I wanna relocate here.

Need a good gym and language school nearby. Any suggestions?

Any regular expat/2p2 meetups? I'd like to play football about once a week. I am bad.

Thanks D33 for providing all that valuable stuff itt.

Ola! Ja, I am in Lisboa until Wednesday, so if you'd like to meet up let me know. We will go out in Bairro Alto tomorrow night and head to a club by the river afterwards. I have been here for a few days and I think it is a great city. I will be moving here next month until mid-September I cannot help you with gym because I have not been here long enough, but there is a small skype group, so maybe somebody there can help you - I think d33p can add you if you message him

The only option is to move to Lisboa yourself!

Certain things are a bit more expensive than in the continent, I thought. But only spent one week holydays in Sao Miguel. The wifi at the hotel was fine. I think the telecom/net packages are similar to the rest of the country, but I may be mistaken. Anyway I really loved the holidays, the forests are amazing. I want to go back sometime.

English ok, better accent than in other countries (like Spain, Italy or France), but don't expect many people to have a large vocabulary. Organic food, can't help you there, I also don't live in Lisbon.
You can order from amazon.uk, though there isn't free shipping anymore since last year. Just don't order outside of the EU, if you want to avoid tax surprises.
There are also local online stores like fnac.pt but you have to know basic portuguese or make good use of google translate. If you're thinking of groceries and food I would just go to a local supermarket. Though there are some services (even from the supermarket themselves) that deliver stuff to your place.

I went to the Lisboa Casino and was disappointed by the fact that they have open/close hours and that they didn't have any poker games running when I went there to check it out.

Did you visit Azores recently, or are you planing to visit in the future looking at pics/videos?

Anyway in the main islands I'm sure there is everything you're looking for, in the smaller islands maybe there won't be a large variety of things to do, if you're used to the conforts of larger cities.

I never played cash games on a casino, but from what I know there isn't practically any games. Sometimes there is a weekend promotion at Casino Estoril and there are several games running but it's a rare thing. There are a few small stakes tourneys that have some good value, though I can't say much from personal experience. I played a couple at Troia Casino (~40 miles south from lisbon) in the past and I really liked the place.
