Jason,

Is it really true that there's no haebeas corpus in Sing and you can get locked up without trial?

Is it also true that they check post, email and phone calls.

Is it also true that there are 30,000 police in Sing...I've never seen many.

I've heard a lot of rumours...it'd be good to get the facts from a local.

1) Not too sure about that but, I remember vaguely somewhere along the lines of 24hours or 48hours without a trial.

Is it also true that they check post, email and phone calls.
2) Well, there's always this conspiracy theory going on but nothing has been proven. But isn't it the same as the FBI or the Feds in the US?

Is it also true that there are 30,000 police in Sing...I've never seen many.
3) There is compulsory conscription here where after a able-body male reaches a certain again. They would be serving in the army, navy, airforce,
police or the civil defence force for 2 years. So that explains it I guess.

Basically the hosts are pretty professional and they provide dealers, drinks and food and in return they charge a 2% rake. And yes the rake is uncapped so they make ****loads.

I've been trying to convince them to spread a 5/10 game but seems like no one is interested. Nonetheless, if you are any good, you should be crushing these low limit games because they are so soft. On my last trip back I played 5 sessions and won a total of $7400 playing 2/5. This includes one session where I donked off $400 for fun. I would say I am a pretty decent player but not sick good or anything, although I am normally a MSNL/HSNL player.

Hi. I am visiting Singapore from Australia this November. Where can I find these cash games u mention?

Cheers

Thats awesome.

I live in Adelaide Australia and have lost countless phones etc in Taxis, never once got anything returned.

No problems playing in SG on poker stars. I even emailed their support and they said it was 100% legit.

Hi folks, I'm Singaporean as well so keep the questions coming. There's plenty of us here. I'm an Indian-malay mix with a chinese girlfriend (thats how multi racial we are) so shoot me a question if you want an alternative view.

Looking back, this is all I got -

Hello J,

Thank you for your email.

PokerStars is also available to players in Singapore, therefore you should
have no problem using your PokerStars account for playing from there.

If we can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

No mention of the legality. As long as you aren't playing in a coffee shop and screaming about your bad beats, I don't see how it can be a problem. I'm pretty confident you would have to piss someone off pretty seriously to attract any attention at all; even if it became known to someone important that you were gambling then I'm not sure they have the legal precedent to do anything about it. Their gambling laws are relaxing, if anything (new casino being built, talk of more gambling-based development).

Re: Ask Me About Living in Singapore

jd_poker is right. Simply put, no one has been arrested for playing poker online ever so don't be worried about playing on stars here.

We've got several regs who have been playing for 4 years +.

Re: Ask Me About Living in Singapore

Been in Singapore for a month.. have to go to a real beach, but will be back soon. Heading up to Phuket in the morning.

The Formula One race was the best experience of my stay.

The MRT is grand here! Transportation is easy.

The food is the best I've ever been around! Options 24 hours a day.

Online access is great here, and there are no problems playing online. A good place to be able to stay.

90 day visa upon arrival which is nice, as there are wasted thoughts on having to get an extension .

Deepavali is in full swing right now..Little India/Seragoon road is happening for the time being.

bump for selfishness.

Have been here for about a week on biz, will be here until around xmas time. So far I have been enjoying it -- staying on Orchard Road right in the heart of the shopping mania.

As mentioned above, food choices are insane. City reminds me a bit like Toronto for its multiculturalness, only it is spotless, seemingly very safe, etc.

The one thing I've noticed - consumerism seems to be even more prevalent than in North America. Now it's prob skewed b/c of where I'm staying, but the amount of shopping centers is ridic. Plus it's a fashion show in terms of the majority of girls are dressed well all the time it seems (which is good ).

Does anyone here cook or is eating out basically mandatory?

Pretty impressed that there's such a North American esque hunger for "stuff"/trendy/fashion/gadgets yet at the same time the country runs a monster trade surplus. Pretty sick.

Also where is the best place to go look for teh womenz?
