How does it feel having less teams in the first league than a hole like Tunja?

Hi
If someone wants to move to Colombia which city would be the best in terms of safety, living conditions, climate(not too hot) and overall city has to offer? I have been to Bogota and Cartagena for a short period of time and was very impressed.
I am considering going back for a longer stay.
Thanks

I actually feel bad, and I am a cali supporter... It is bad for the local economy in general and the reputation for the city.

I would say medellin is the best city but It also depends on what you like and what is your interest. Cali is great if you are into salsa dancing or dancing in general because that is what cali is about. we have like 24C-75F weather all year round in cali.

rent is really cheap here in Cali. Neighborhoods are classified between "estratos" from 1-6. Obv 6 is where the rich live. You can live in a 5 or 6 area in a really nice apartment starting from about 600 USD. food is cheap too. there are restaurants that only serve lunch here and a regular lunch costs 3-6 dollars. At night you do not have these places so going out to eat would cost 8-15 dollars. I see more and more tourists coming here, especially from december 26 when the festivities or "feria de cali" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cali_Fair. English is not widely spoken but people are so friendly It will compensate. I really have no info about tourists visa.

You won't believe the kind of girls you will see in Cali, shakira being one of the average ones. Cali and Medellin are famous for having very beautiful women. I am serious about this.

You can stay up to 180 days/year as a tourist. Though you will only get like 60 or 90 days in your passport when entering, so you will have to renew that 1 or 2 times. Dont think you pay more than ~$40 for that though. If you want to stay longer you can get a student visa quite easily by taking some Spanish lessons (2h/day is enough). If you want to know more just ask, if the OP is fine with some visa talk itt.

I have only been to Bogota. I hear Medellin is about the same. Mostly ghetto with some nice neighborhoods with some clubs/restaurants, temperate climate which I find a bit on the cold side. What about Cali?

What about the beach? I heard that Buenaventura is a gang infested ghetto where gringos should not go. Is that true? Are there any nice and safe beach places near Cali?

Medellin is a really nice city with great weather. Cali is a bit warmer. You would have to visit the two cities and compare. It all the depends on what you like.

It is true that Buenaventura is not a place you want to go if you are looking for a nice beach. Cali has no nice beaches close.

Hello..

Sorry to bump an old thread. I'm from England and I'm moving to Cali soon. My Spanish is slowly improving but it would be great to converse with someone who has good English.
