Re: Ask ajrees anything about ITALY
i wouldn't skip sienna, ever, but you pbb got that from my previous post. that town is just <3. it could also serve as a bit of a resting point in your trip if you want it to (i can think of worse ways to spend an afternoon than chilling on the town square/oval )

How is my itinerary overall? I don't you'd probably say to skip Venice but I think it's a must for first time Italy.
What about Tuscany? Is that worth making a side trip to? Any other side trips I should think about? I'm probably going to skip Pisa and Milan. What about Bologna?
So many places to choose from...

Thanks

For the first time in Italy, this Itinerary sounds fine. How are you travelling around? Train? Hire car? The trains are great in Italy so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting from place to place.
I wouldn't skip Siena, it is a great city.

There are some brilliant little towns in Tuscany and Lucca is one of my favourite places in Italy, but you can't really see them all in a couple of weeks. Maybe save that for next time
I love Bologna but i am heavily biased It would be a good city for a day trip as it is between Venice and Florence, but it is entirely up to you.

Re: Ask ajrees anything about ITALY
Definitely go up to Lake Como or Lake Maggiore for at least the day, it is a beautiful part of the world.
Other things to do in Milan:
* Duomo
* Castello
* See San Siro football stadium
* Visit the Fashion Quadrant
* Check out La Scala
I will add more later on, in a rush right now...

Re: Ask ajrees anything about ITALY
ajrees...I was wondering if you could help me out on a translation from english to italian. I want to know what is the proper way to say "regret nothing" in italian.
From what I have come up with, the internet translation site give me Rammarico Nulla but I think it is Nessun Rimpianto which is "no regrets"
Any help would be great.

I went in April and there were way to many people, not to mention Venice really isn't that special imo. It's ok for a day, but that might be hard to do transportationwise depending on your other destinations.
Pisa is weird too, on one hand it's really cool to see. On the other hand it's just a patch of grass with 3 buildings on it, and that's it, the rest of the city isn't a big deal, imo.
Florence is awesome, Sienna is awesome, basicly everything there is. Enjoyed Rome a lot too, and the Greek stuff in the South is nice too.
|
Agree on Venice, Dont skip Pisa imo (nothing to see but the tower but tower is cool to see imo) but combine it with Lucca which is a smallish city between Pisa and Florence.

Nessun Rammarico
OR
Nessun rimpianto
Both are correct.

Train is definitely the cheapest and easiest, especially since the Stazione Centrale in every city is usally right in the middle of the city close to everything.

Re: Ask ajrees anything about ITALY
I'm thinking of doing a study abroad in Rome. Are there any casinos or poker games in the area? If not, if I were to go about on a few weekends to another city to play some games, where would you recommend?

Re: Ask ajrees anything about ITALY
OP, is July-Aug a bad time to visit Italy? Also, are the trains a good way to get around?
