I stayed 15 days in Mango Ray Resort in station 2 and I loved the location as it was beach front & in the heart of all the action with nightclubs Epic, Juice Bar & Summer Place just 1 minute walk away. D'mall is very close as well with easy access to restaurants.

The other clubs in Station 1 (Cocomangas, Paraw & Guilly's) are easy accessible via trike or 5-10 minute walk along White Beach.

Other recommended hotels: Boracay Regency, Mandarin Island Hotel, Red Coconut & Nigi Nigi.

It wouldnt be "dangerous" but you would attract negative and positive attention basically everywhere. Would invite a lot of ripoffs and scams. Just be prepared for meeting a lot of new "friends" in the streets, getting bled dry at all times and you are fine.
Getting mugged etc is unlikely in standard areas

It is in general a bad idea to show off perceived wealth and flash expensive jewelry.

Note that is Manila based and Manila is no place for a romantic trip with your wife.

i went and picked one up today at the mall for 3995p, its only offered in prepaid right now at 10p/30min. its advertised as a 4g 12mbps stick but im in a 3g area at the top of metro manila in fairview and have been getting 4-5mpbs speed all day, which is pretty solid imo. i played 16 tables for 4 hours without any disconnects so far. the 4g areas where you can get 12mpbs are

Seriously as long as you don't take any form of public transportation (taxi is considered semi-public transportation) and don't walk around sketchy areas it is fine to wear whatever. It probably wouldn't be a good idea to go around on public transport in Chicago wearing a fancy watch, and it probably isn't here. There are stores here for designer clothes and fancy watches though, so obviously people are buying them and not having problems. Just a matter of not taking street taxis or walking around red light districts at night, which all the poker players do.

no contract, just fill out this tiny paper with name , addy, sign and pay. bandwidth isnt capped, i think only globe and sun have bandwidth caps. not sure about the promos, i know smart has the unli 200 where you pay 200 for unlimited for 5 days, but that was with the 2mb stick prob just ask at the smart store, but im not sure if it works with this rocket stick, ill prob check tomorrow. today i played from 11am-8pm on merge the first half and then party the second half and had no disconnects. yeah 10p/30min can get expensive if you grind long sessions, i think in sept some time they will offer postpaid plans with some other kinda promo. its been fine for me today though playing 16+ tables on only 4-5 mpbs, and in eastwood you should be getting 12. also dont make the mistake i did and buy the smart buddy load cards, you have to get the smart bro load cards to put time on it. most internet cafes you can bring them the bro number and they can load it up for you also, kinda annoying you cant do it yourself online though, gotta either buy a card or go to a place that does that service. also i havent tried any other 4g options only one is globe tattoo i guess, and they have very limited coverage compared to smarts 154+ hpsa+ sites to get 12mpbs, plus i read on a few blogs and talked to a guy using it here said it was crap, not even close to 10mpbs, so for 4g sticks smart>globe.

i got mine at sm fairview at the smart store, fanapathy texted me earlier today and said he tried sm megamall and they were sold out after it only being out for one day and he ended up finding one at cubao. one thing is if you ask the person at the door handing out the tickets they wont know what you are talking about, sit down and talk to a customer service rep. i asked the dude at the front door and he had no idea but once i sat down and talk to the cs rep she knew about them.

Yes and I tried SM Marikina (not yet in stock) and SM Cubao (no smart office). However, the big noname mall across the street from SM Cubao had plenty in stock and a lot of advertisements and flyers. This stick will probably be all over the place within a week or so though, yet vendors have no clue when they get it in stock as expected.

I would have to say that I'm not getting a good speed at all (yet) in Eastwood, so I advise residents here to stick with Bro/Tattoo or the best wireless option here IMO which is WiTribe. Sun is terrible here. I'm openly facing C5 and should be getting a good signal from most transmitters, unfortunately Smart has got to ship a HSPA+ to Libis ASAP.
