Are u in AC now? My friends want me to go but I'm a little unsure for safety reasons, any thoughts on that situation there?

Vish whats your specific concerns anyway, for some one as well traveled throughout SE asia as you AC would be fine long as stay in the safer area's.

I think my concern is I'm a bit of a party animal and drink quite a lot so would be an easy target for anyone, I know its easy to say drink less but that would take away a lot of the enjoyment for me. I'm constantly hearing nasty stories about pretty sick crime and a friend of a guy I know very well was murdered there a few months ago. Also this same friend has seen tons of sick stuff there including a decapitated body on Fields ave! That said he does go there a lot.

I just want to know I will be safe tbh, what would you define as safe areas? Fields ave?

Wow, although if it's on Fields it would seem more likely it was due to some accident than to any crime. I don't really know the place well though.

I'd stay away from AC, its nothing but a depressing sh%thole full of ugly girls!!
Decapitated bodies, VV's acquaintance murdered, and the guy from Black Eyed Peas brother was also murdered there. Not much good happens at this place..

I heartily disagree. Stay on the main street. Don't wander around alone at night. You can have a hell of a good time in AC.

These two posts above are exactly my dilemma, of all the guys I know half say one thing half say the other. I've been around the block in SEA, but I've never really felt unsafe at all anywhere, that's part of the reason I like coming out to this part of the world. I just know I won't enjoy myself if I'm looking over my shoulder or having to worry about how much I drink etc.

He has a bunch of those detailing his days living in AC for a few years, lets you get a feel for whats its like out there. Frequently going out drinking going to bars, meeting random people etc...

TBH AC isn't far off from say Bangkok or Manila in terms of crime/crazy sh*t happening there, staying in a decent hotel on fields and using common sense will keep you away from the majority of the trouble (outside of the girls lolz, which I'm assuming most people go there for anyway)

Here are couple of questions(and sorry if allready answered, just too lazy to explore this long threat).

1.About banking, is it easy to open bank account here(do you need visa or something else?)? What banks are recommended and does it mater which city you open it?

2.About visa and staying long time. I can stay 3 weeks(and many others i assume) without visa and heard you can extend it for like 3k pesos for 1,5month at immigration and after that for like 2months for 6k. Is it easy process and can you get different lenght of extensions?
Is it easy for poker player get some other visa(maybe even marriage, lol) and also would like know a bit about those processes.

I have a diplomatic visa and according to my brother that means I have diplomatic immunity and can get away with most crimes. Is this really how it works? He tells me that at his school a lot of the kids have diplomatic status (it's a posh international school) and so do drugs because they can get away with it if they get caught.

I just got here about a week ago and am in Pasig atm. What struck me most is the disparity between rich and poor. For example, most of what I saw on the way from the airport was slums, then I got to the town I'm staying at and the streets are suddenly lined with mansions. Haven't been out much though besides going to the mall, can anyone reccommend some cool touristy places to see?

Also, would I be able to withdraw money from my atm card here (it's a commonwealth bank one btw)?
