Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines? Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?

By the way I've been running into a decent amount of "ladies" the last couple of weeks, where often others would tap me on the shoulder and say "Dude....that's a DUDE!" and so I'm looking for a foolproof guide!

So far I have gathered:
-Square face, big boned forehead/chin etc
-Adam's apple, wearing turtleneck in the club is a giveaway, however this is fixable thru surgery nowadays
-Too intense stare
-Shoulders wider than hips
-Big hands
-Big shoes
-Masculine style of walking
-Fake tits (kinda inclined to dodge anyone with unnatural looking ones)
-Something feels weird when having eye contact
-Dressing "too sexy"
-If I feel suspicious, there might be a good reason for it

-They're probably not gonna provide natural lubrication, but at this point it's already too late!!

Anything to add please do so, this sucks

I am curious if there are any Koreans who are either in the Philippines now or were in the past who might be able to shed light on their experiences. Were you able to find decent Korean restaurants, Korean style Chinese food, super markets, etc. Obviously I am Korean and would like to know.

I apologize if this has been covered before. I have tried reading the entire thread but it is massive and I'm not even half way through yet.

I mentioned earlier in the thread that I think "the Philippines is probably the best place for Korean food outside of Korea due to all the Koreans here."

But I think it depends on the area. I live in Makati and my area is like a Koreatown. There are 4 supermarkets within like a 10 minute walk and countless Korean restaurants nearby.

The ones I regularly go to are:
까치분식 (on General Luna Street): 돈까스, 보끔밥, 오므라이스, 떡볶이, 순대, etc.
서울 숯불갈비 (on General Luna Street): 갈비
민속 (on Don Pedro Street): 삼겹살
인왕산 (Inwangsan Hotel Restaurant): 짜장면, 짬퐁, 탕수육, other Chinese food

Then there are places like Kaya, BBQ Chicken, Dong Won Garden, one place in A.Venue Mall that specializes in 떡볶이, and probably like a dozen others.

I believe Ortigas, Malate and Quezon City have their own Koreatowns but not really sure to what extent.

That was very helpful. Thank you.

I live in Cebu City and as far as foreign population goes down here, Koreans outnumber other foreigners at least 3 to 1 in this area. Pretty much every decent mall will have a good selection of korean places and most of the big supermarkets carry products geared towards koreans. Lots of Koreans migrate here to due lower cost of living, warm weather, start businesses, lots of college students etc... I'll say +1 to Paul on being able to get great Korean food, blows away anything I tried in the USA as far as authenticity goes.

The more I read here and elsewhere I am being more convinced daily that I will probably make the move down there soon; sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It'll be close to summer there by then, the women sound great, I'll be able to play on some sites that I've missed here in the US and it sounds like I can live off of my rakeback and bonuses alone, let alone my profit. The availability of good Korean food pretty much clinches it.

I've contacted a few property rental companies in preparation for my trip and I was wondering if anyone had dealt with this company before:

www.islandproperties.com

They are sending me info on 1-2 bedroom apartments/condos in Cebu City, Cebu that seem to range in the 20,000 PH area. Is this fairly typical? Would anyone recommend living in the Cebu City part of Cebu or are other areas more desirable. Here is an example of one listing they gave me:

http://islandsproperties.com/rentals...3014/index.htm

Another company is showing me listings in Talisay City. I've looked up this area and I have found a mixed bag of reviews. It seems that a few people were scammed by a handful of companies into renting properties that were poorly built or received flood damage anytime it rained. While others absolutely swear by this area.

If anyone has had experiences in these areas or with the company named above I would greatly appreciate any input you might be able to offer.

I would recommend checking this forum if you are seriously considering moving out to cebu

http://www.livingincebuforums.com/

I would try and cross check on the forums with the companies/realtors your dealing with and location since they could probably give you some decent insight.

Internet prices are usually going to be inflated by like 25 to even 50 percent sometimes so if you have a local who you can trust to negotiate for you it will save you a lot of hassles. This is one of the reasons people tend to spend a lot more when the first arrive in south east asia than they had anticipated. If you don't know the area well or have someone guiding you who is trustworthy than its worth it to stay in a few different area's and be CAREFUL before you commit to anything long term, this might cost you more in the short term to stay in hotels and short term rentals but its worth it IMO until you get what you want. There aren't laws out here that protect tenants the same way as in developed countries so make sure everything is in writing and everything is crystal clear before you commit.

As far as cebu goes the closer you stay to the city the better esp for someone who isn't familiar with the area, much easier access to taxi's, restaurants and malls that would cater more to foreigners. You should def spend a little time in the manila/makati region to see if would like it there more.

For Cebu I would check out city lights gardens, which you can google. It's one of the nicer buildings and afaik they have their own leasing office so it should be legit (can't guarantee anything obv).

Thank you for the suggestion. I checked it out on google and it looks like they are renting starting at around $1,100 US; a little more than what I would like to pay.

That's the plan at the moment. I'll probably fly into Manila first and spend a couple of days looking around there. Then I'll repeat the process in Cebu and than Boracay. Although I have heard that it might be hard to find a place in Boracay around that time of the year.

For the person that can help me the most I will be eternally grateful. I have just been for my monthly haircut and once again I somehow manage to get my haircut by some form of ladyboy.

Is there anywhere here where I can actually get a haircut from an actual woman?

I'm guessing this is because you're in Sabang? Here in metro manila It's mostly dudes (some gay but usually straight) cutting my hair, and sometimes a very plain looking female who is definitely female.

Nope I actually went out of my way whilst in Manila to get my haircut and always ended up with a rather camp male. I tried a couple of places around Burgos and one in Ermita.

Oh, try one in a mall in fort, Rockwell, makati CBD, or ortigas. I've pretty much always had my haircut done by normal guys in those places.

try eastwood cinema. they have a cheap cinema and and expensive one which is 400 pesos i think. it's the nuts imo. all reclining chairs. only about 30 seats in the room. each on a different high level by far, so no worries about the guy in front of you blocking view. and comes with bottomless popcorn and soda.

datablitz i think is the cheapest(for non-fake) for all video game stuff. they have a lot of locations and somehow don't price increase that much compared to u.s. prices. and they get the items like a day after it comes out too.

Alex I kind of over exaggerated my first post a bit there are plenty of normal dudes (most who do a very good job) down here who cut hair.

Are there no semi attractive girls here who know how to cut hair?
