On 2p2 it is. If you look at the llsnl strat forum it covers $1/$2 - $2/$5, so yes. But it doesn't really matter what you call it, the remainder of my post applies to your situation regardless I would say.

Comparing your earning power to that of the average citizen in Philippines is a pretty poor metric to use. The fact is most people playing poker in Philippines could earn much more doing another job (even with their added buying power which is questionable), be building a resume and probably be happier overall.

Carpe: there's a win rates thread in llsnl forum which discusses these things, you might want to ask there. The extra money taken out for rake is a big deal. Also I'd games play tighter and you are winning more pots without capping the rake then a large portion of your win rate will be going to the rake as well. It's a huge difference.

Isn't max rake in 100-200, 500p? That's no where near $16. Where is the $16 figure coming from?

Even if we are talking CAD here, 500 php is less than CAD$14.

No,I play online..never play live in Manila..the last time I play live was last year in Macau..What I suggest is,for a winning player at $1/$2 level, you definitely can live comfortably

BGP I just did a work trip around a few places, so can fill you in:

PP: NW (Naga) is struggling for a game to start before 5pm, with a lot of the seats being locked up, and the same set of people. I wouldn't rely on NW having tables in the future, as NW2 will most likely not have poker and split the players even worse then it is now. RK (River) is still kicking it with a 1-2 and 5-5 Omaha, great game but plays a little wild. Red Fox game is still going ultra low stakes (0.5 - 1) but can play really deep if you get the right mix (Deep being 1-2k on the table)

Phils: I checked out Lucky Fish, had 3 tables running, seems that you really need to get involved with the floor staff to get into the games you are seeking. Midas i didn't get a chance to check out, and spent some time in Solaire, but seems the larger action has moved to LF.

Macau: Games are definitely taking a hit, with COD/Wynn/Galaxy being the best options, but are super hit and miss. Walking into Wynn I feel like I'm in Europe and its very TAG with very little room to maneuver. The lists are still populated, but are nowhere near what they were previously. There is still a huge deep game that I have been seeing run thurs-friday 100-200k min stacks, Lately i have been enjoying the galaxy games, with the room being in the center, i have found if you buy a few drinks, people wander in and are more likely to sit down... had a few 50k+ (HKD) sessions with baccarat guys.

Indonesia (Bali): Invited to a game whilst sitting at Y-Bar, seems they have a local room (House) that regularly runs, 2-5 (20k-50k Rup) buddy was telling me that its dependent on the fly in miners from Perth. I stopped by on Sat and they had 2 tables, a 2-5 and a 10-20 with decent stacks, with the wife so didn't sit, but action looked very similar to Crown. (You may have to be Australian to get invited into this game...)

Is there action and lots of tables running every day in Cebu in the different poker rooms?
i dont know about making a living 25/50 seems to run often but you dont have a lot of options casino wise i dont think the collusion part is that big a deal cuz they play pretty bad and its not gonna happen every hand if you can beat bad day games in the usa you can beat these games here but for how much? but when you consider its half the stakes of a 1/2 game it aint that bad right as far as stakes wise (i dont know if your fulltime player that needs all income from poker--if so its tuff then) ? id plan a trip as a vacation only then see what you think but it sounds like manilla has more options poker wise (i havent been there) but cebu is a smaller city and many think a better place to live (i live here) also ive had very good experience with landline pdl internet so thats an option if you play online

Cool Jsplit, thanks a lot for the info.

Was 100 200 500 running at Lucky fish when you were there?

I've lived and played live in Manila for almost four years now. I am here for work so don't play full time or rely on that income to live however.

Someone above mentioned getting to know the staff which I would agree is key as the bigger games move a bit, particularly the PLO game as has smaller player pool. There is usually a host for the 'VIP' games so get to know them and get on their text or Viber lists.

So far Lucky Fish does have a game everyday. Usually one table for NLH and one for PLO. How long they last and if are full 9 players varies. I wouldn't base anything on the past couple weeks during the APT when they were carrying considerably more action.

Sounds like people will turn up noises but if LF game breaks you most likely go across street and find 50/100 at RW. 1 table Sun - Thur, maybe 2 on Fri/Sat. May be smaller but is value in the game.

As for feeling safe, I travel mostly by Uber now but taxi prior and have never really felt uncomfortable going to/from any of rooms. If you play at any of casinos or Metro you can also simply open account with them to keep money there so don't have to carry large amounts of cash

Thank you for those informations jsplit! About the RK and Red fox game, is it very safe to play there? I have read (on ''somuchpoker.com'' I think) that NW Naga was the only legal casino in the country so is there some risks related to playing at the RK like being arrested by the police? Also what is the rake at the Red fox or Lucky fish? What kind of game was it at the LF (stakes, max and min buy-ins, level of the players).

Lucky Fish is basically a 'VIP' room for Resorts World so rake is 5%. Cap is I believe 500 if playing 100/200 and 600 if playing 100/200/500. Is all RW dealers, rules, etc.

Stakes will depend on players. PLO is almost always 100/200/500. I don't play as much NLH but when I have it has also been 100/200/500 majority of time.

Amaya-William Hill merger could happen. Will Hill doesn't operate in Philippines or Thailand, among other countries:
