I have two from SM appliance store that I want to sell because I'm leaving. I could sell them to you used. If not, you could go to SM appliance store.

Hello Phili poker players I need some help and advice from you guys who have "been there, done that". Instead of starting a new thread, I'll post here, as advised by one of the contributors here that I PM'ed.

I've been hooked on this thought of moving abroad and playing poker for quite some months now. I'm serious about going through with it as I have no ties at all and I'm free as a bird!

The thing is, I'll most likely be doing this on my own which is pretty tough. I therefore want to get in touch with acquaintances who are leading similar lives.

I have not read this whole thread or done a huge amount of research, but I've been reading here and there in Asia-forums and talked to people who have traveled a lot. Philippines seems like the right kind of place, next to Thailand.
I'm 25 years old from Northern Europe with fluent English.
My intentions are simple ... adventure, experience, fun, doing something completely different. The average-joe life; settling down with wife, kids, steady wage and stability...is not for me, at least not at the moment. I have tried a lot of things, studying at universities, working average jobs, working weird jobs..I've recently been in the army and been on an "exotic" international mission that I'm finished with now. What I gather from my experiences is that I am unable to find something I want to commit to long-term. I'll do something new and different whenever I get the chance, which I think is fine and gives me a lot.

My country is really expensive, grinding poker for a living is certainly doable but probably not desirable. I have approximately $35K in savings and another couple grand on my poker accounts so hopefully that's enough backup.

I'm looking for this:
A place with good weather and friendly people with a good attitude. A place that isn't too limited with opportunities for various activities.
Manila sounded cool but I hear bad things about the place.
I want to either rent a house/an apartment, on my own or with somebody. If others have extra room and already established, I'd be keen on joining in on that as well
Casino would also be nice to play some live poker.
Suggestions are welcome!

I'm a chill laid-back open minded dude who likes people and rarely judge.
I'd like to travel or live in Asia for atleast 1 year, probably more.

I figure it's probably a good idea to visit the country on a vacation before I eventually move

Please send me a private message or reply here. This excites me. Thanks

Philippines is a great choice of country, there is nothing wrong with Manila, and there are lots of other cool places in the Philippines too. I'm heading back in a few weeks, living in the Philippines is so much more fun than living in Norway.

Are there more Norwegian poker players there? I met a few during the APT event, but none of those were staying there. I haven't played much poker in Manila lately though.

You are the third Norwegian lately that has posted about Manila here.. And I'm Norwegian too, and I know one that is not posting here. Maybe not a lot, but more than I would expect from our small country

Really, well I've posted here every now and then before, been coming to the Philippines for about 3 years now after all, for 3-5 months at a time, but never knew there were other poker players from Norway living there. Really looking forward to getting back there now.

Overall I haven't met that many Norwegians in the Philippines, especially compared to say Thailand were you hear people talking Norwegian all the time. How long have you been living here? Been down to Cebu and met the Norwegian colony there?

Alex your post is like WAT

And there might be a new colonization coming! There'll be more Norwegians in Manila than in downtown Oslo soon
Time to move. We're supposed to have one of the best countries to live in, on paper, but hands down the most boring I've been in, maybe next to Latvia. Norway is mainly robots moving from A to B in-between all the Hotel Cæsar watching

I'll probably be departing within a couple months. Cya there!

I live here. Come and try it, that's the only way you can know if it suits you. Some people will tell you about bad experiences, but what country has none of those?

Haven't got much of a budget, but I'd be interested in sharing a place with some people or just hanging out.

I have been here 18 months over a 2 year period now. Never been to Cebu, I guess the Norwegians living in Cebu is mostly 50++ and on welfare, so not a crowd for me to socialize with
