I just played it like Gin Rummy and found it to be quite a basic game once you had worked out some of the crazy rules that come out.

Anyone who's interested in short-term accommodation can search Manila craigslist vacation rentals for "Joya Mark" to see pics of the place and check availability (unfortunately there are no 3-week slots until April). I know the owner personally so I can ask him for a discount.

For those in places without stable Internet. I have just purchased a Smart Bro Internet stick. Fired it up today and I'm currently grinding the pokerz on my floating bar.

I hate life

I have been reading 2p2 for years and yeah this is going to be on first post on here..I work in the gaming industry...

I am 28 yr canadian guy, have been living in asia for the past 5-6 years now, most of my time was spent living in Malaysia, but have traveled to most everywhere in SE Asia and I would agree the women here in the Philippines are probably the hottest compared to everywhere...I live in Makati for work and while the rent isn't cheap for what you get, there are certainly deals to be had. All these people worried about having a security guard at their buildings, as every single place I looked at has a guard, christ 7/11 has guard, for me personally the fact that every place has a guard makes me think i should have something to worry about, although i never felt unsafe - that being said of course i look over my shoulder when using the ATM's etc. From my experience, pulling funds out of ATM's i have been able to do 30,000peso per day from a foreign bank account..

I would like to meet up with any local 2p2'ers some day to shoot the **it and see how other people live here and make new friends here. I have been only in the Philippines for a few months now, would love to make a casino trip one day or whatever...drop me a PM if possible

I assume(d) as long as netellers card is cirrus or meps or maestro etc (on the back of the card it should indicate this) you would be fine, i don't have a neteller card but my foreign atm cards don't have much success at china bank for example, however i have zero problems with RCBC and banknet(?red/yellow) machine.. hope this helps..

Isn't Neteller charging a disturbingly high fee for each withdraw? (they did in the past with my old prepaid card anyway). If so it must be extremely expensive to withdraw 10K pesos at the time.. ouch!

I'm from Norway too, btw.

For anyone interested in Golf.

I have been up to Manila a couple of times in the last month or so. When we were there we went and had a game at the Navy course. The cost of the round including caddy was 2600 (1600 green fees, 500 club hire and 500 caddy tip. I haven't played much golf and for the money it was well worth it. Not only do you get a round of golf but you get a golf lesson from the caddy's at the same time.

I believe umbrella girls can be hired for 500p. Beers in the clubhouse are around 35p each.

I should be heading up to Manila in a couple of weeks. If anyone fancies a round of golf let me know.

swear to god I would ****ing quit pokers and work at 7/11 for a year if it meant her affection , but obviously this is purely irrational non-sense i just can't reason with it

Best
"The three main casinos for poker are Metro Card Club, Hyatt, and Resorts World. They will run games from 10/20 (about .2/.4) pesos up to 100/200/500 (about 2/4/10 USD) regularly and occasionally highe"

meh, I kind of disagree with Alex on this. Depends on how you define 'regularly', you cannot count on finding a 100/200/400 game in this city on most nights of the week - seriously on a Monday/Tuesday/Wednewdaay/Sunday morning-evening you can expect a 50/100 game (but can't even depend on there being one of those) and even on a Friday / Saturday / Thursday night, you can't count on one - although they do often run (but there will be one-andonly one table). But I'm just speaking from my experience, in teh 7 months I been here I probably went to play live here like 10 times and found that the highest game running was <= 50/100 7 times. Examples: went to waterfront 2 consecutive nights in Cebu during APPT and the highest game they had running there was 25/50 peso (it's true that there were higher gaems running at Shang-ri-La but that was like 40 min taxi ride and Waterfront was supposed to be the big casino). I went to play on Halloween night (think it was a thursday but not 100%) adn pretty sure the highest game they ran at Metro was 50/100. I've been in the early morning during the week at Metro where the highest game they had running was 10/20 PHP until like 11am. Still, you could come to PI cause there's fun stuff to do here and you can just play real poekr on the internet instead of fake bull**** poker at teh cardroom . druknks

the games there tend to play bigger than the stakes.

games like 50/100 (1/2 US appx a little less) tend to have opening bets of 5k or roughly 100 dollars, but expect 30-40 dollar opening raises more time than not. Just depends where you play I suppose.

If you are looking for super soft games I suggest staying away from the Metro as the best players in the country are regulars there

thats a bit exaggerated buddy. You are right that they do play bigger and the stacks are deep but 5k is too much. 5 to 10x the BB is more accurate.

Live cash in the Philippines is not as good as it was 2years ago. Colluding, Soft playing and short stacking are now very common combine this with the insane rake and you dont have much reason to head to the cardroom. Players are getting better too.

The good games are in hotel casinos, especially rooms freaquented by korean gamblers. These guys will Gamble!!!

Metro has the big fish too but they are not pleasant to play with. (Politician types). The top players are there too and a bunch play out of the same pocket so you have to be careful. Plus they are very close friends with the owner of the cardroom.

I was a winning 50/100 and 100/200 player but have recently stopped live and am more content 2 tabling low stakes omaha 8 online because live poker in Manila just is not fun anymore.

Poker etiquette is also non-existent here and the floor men are either poorly trained or incapable of executing rulings properly because many of the violators are VIPs not only in the cardroom but in the country.

You have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about. Please stop make posts like this because you are fooling people who are thinking of moving to Manila.

You do it again and again, and I have no idea of why.
