Not comparable at all.

Then again i only really class AC as fields ave and perimeter road. So i am not being entirely fair. What i mean is AC is great for a few nights but 3 nights is about my maximum then and im turbo bored and ready to leave.

Yeah also only managed 3 nights there. I will go back though I missed out on the waterpark, it seems lame on your own but could of took a cute bar girl I suppose.

Patts has beach which makes it easier imo to stay there longer.

Well yeah there isnt much to do besides the bars.
But if you are staying abit longer the pokerrooms can kill some time and even make you some money, atleast when the 100/200 are running.

Otherwise it's SM Mall, and sitting in your room working.

I used a smart bro dongal when i first got there. I thought it was fine, really cheap like 200 peaso for full 5 days and connection was fine. Easy to top up etc. Much better than what Thailand has to offer for both price and ease of use.

the dongle itself only cost 200 pesos? or was that the initial load you put on it?

Last edited by kick2dante; 01-31-2013 at 12:29 AM. Reason: hehe i said load you put on it

Cant remember how much they cost, prolly aorund 1500P just load with credit then enter number for one of the offers, i used 200peaso for 5 days. Once you have the dongal installed it is mega easy to use.

Not sure if anyone is following LTE, but it's now available in Metro Manila for Smart and Globe postpaid customers with LTE SIM. Some of the speedtest results being posted are insane.

Damn that's nice, but you need an ACR card to get postpaid I think.

You got any prices on an LTE plan? I don't think the LTE network will be has clogged up as I guess it will be kind of expensive.

On Smart, it costs 1500+ (cheapest Unlimited Data plan) plus LTE registration:

LTE 50 - 1 DAY
LTE 299- 7 DAYS
LTE 999 - 30 DAYS

It'll eventually be available for Prepaid users too. It's only available for Postpaid right now because it just launched a couple days ago.

Also, PSA: Tiger Airways is running a sick promo. I just booked Manila-Cebu roundtrip for 443 pesos, including the 200 peso domestic terminal fee at NAIA.

International is the old sportsbar which is called Cuba Cuba now fwiw . Gets boring very fast with all the softplaying amongst the locals there, a lot of them are also splitting action / playing same BR. That's what annoys me about live poker in AC is that it's allowed to check down nuts to your friend, don't know how it is in other parts of the Philippines.

Once in Double Aces (on Fields) a guy got caught om cam switching cards in a Badugi game, tank calling 10 min. with 2nd nuts got suspicious lol. This guy plays regularly in Wild Aces the place you're talking about. Oh well, drink beer have fun!

Depends a lot on your situation as well, I think most people definitely would have a hard time living there without having a job or something to occupy your time with, I can definitely see how it gets boring fast when you're on tourist mode, 3 days seems quite short though irregardless.

I've lived there for 8 months, spent lots of time partying but also lots of time just grinding, met like minded poker players living there and made some great friends.

K2 its pretty basic when it comes to furniture and finishing. But that doesn't really bother me. Only thing that I would probably look at upgrading is the TV as its an old ****ty box thing. Can pick one up a 42inch from CDR king for 15000 so will probably get me one of those.

When it comes to finding apartments there are a lot around in the 10-15k region per month. I know you are socially awkward but the easiest way to find places is to integrate into the expat scene. If they know your looking for a place then the general nature of most expats is to help another one out and point you in the right direction.

Smart Bros/Globe Tattoos are 1000 each.

You were living in Manila at the time though Poots. I'm coming from living in a beach town for the last few years. So having cinema, regular electric, fast food and girls all within walking distance is somewhat of a novelty.

Dmalloy;
Just check the resulotion before buying, they have 1366 x 768 on most of their TVs and that is going to suck if you want to plug in your computer in it.

Im also looking at buying a TV from CDRking so please report back if you do on the pros and cons.

Just a little recommendation for you guys that are looking to buy TVs in PI, why not just look into buying a small (portable) projector instead? It's way better quality and the price is not bad at all.. And obv easy to bring if you're gonna travel somewhere etc (won't have to resell TV and stuff).

Anyway thats the setup I have right now, can easily bring it in my handluggage with my laptop if I'm bringning it on a flight. Ordered it from Amazon and got it in 4 days from the US (obv had to pay some express shipping and taxes though but still super worth it). I'm using Optoma ML500 but do your research, maybe they released newer models etc.

GL

(FWIW I'd never buy any CDR King branded TVs.. that just seems like a huge waste of money for a crap quality TV)

yeah they work where ever there is phone signal. In some places globe>smart so would be advisable to get as many as you can. They can be slightly temperamental to play poker on though.
