you are on the internet.... so i guess as long as it doesnt last that long and you can still play online (and have enough food/water) its not all that bad
I am in metro manila. I could play online now. There is power in my place. I also have several back-ups for power outages: UPS (with car battery), Pokerstars on Mobile, 3 sources of internet (broadband/3G, 4G, mobile internet)

Yes, typhoons/strong winds causes the power to go out.

There is no way to be aware that the power is to get shut down because it is usually caused by trees falling down on power lines or power line/towers falling.
If it is a scheduled maintenance then you can be made aware. Check with your power distributor (e.g. Meralco)

If by "city was about to get shut down" means other than power outages, then there's no means to know other than listen to the weather forecast and decide for yourself.

depending on where you stay (near rivers/flood prone ares) there is really no way to know. In Marikina it is up to the roof right now.

However my take on Thai vs. PI chicks is this (Based on over 500 Thai chicks about 35ish PI chicks).

Thai chicks are cleaner(personal hygiene wise), Are dirtier in the sack, dress better, know how to put on make up properly, and have better hair styles, making them hotter overall imo Are cuter and more endearing, funnier, more submissive(kinda still in the cute category)

PI birds have bulging eyes and look 5 years older then they really are. No wonder they use the word haggered so much here 90% of them look like knackard old ponies ready for the glue factory. Ok I will admit there may be a few rounder bums around but it in no way makes up for the short fall in all other areas.

PI birds have one thing most guys seem to like, they speak english well (for the most part that is). Funnily enough that's also a turn off for me. To me when they rattle on in that sickly twisted American accent I just want them to shut the **** up. Id rather hear the cute soft kahh kahhh from a thai than the twoddle these things come out with.

AC is a very poorly watered down version of Pattaya, it is tame to say the very least. They line dance to 80's rock wearing a bikini over underwear lol wooo how hardcore! There are no lesbian shows, no naked jacuzzi bars, oil shows or any of that good stuff. There are no decent night clubs, no (or very few) beer bars stuffed full of hookers (like Pattaya has in abundance). There are no freelancer/trendish bar/semiclub things like Pattaya has, and now where near as good after hour proper nightclubs either. It doest have anything like soi 6, which is about 50 dirty **** shops with 30 birds in each all in one soi. Where they have your **** out before you even get the beer you ordered.

There is nowhere near the same amount of nice places to eat either, no beach and none of the other 1000 things there is to do in patts if you are bored of in the daytime.

AC is where 60yo retired sexpats go to die.

Oh and it has live poker.

Oh
Spoiler:
and i love it

FYI K2 To **** the hottest birds in BKK will cost you in excess of 10k per pop so doing that for 90 days would certainly hurt the wallet.
Will disagree with one thing there mate, I quite like high society nightclub in AC is good fun and has plenty of freelancers. Still think the are plenty of decent birds in PI, they just aren't as numerous at Thai.

what happens to the poker at CF then, will that mean two poker rooms in AC again? Is the infamous King's still up and running?

I was last there in May and CF was the only game in town. It was a bit crowded due to that early evening tournament they run. But it was ok.
Wild Aces has a more relaxed and safer feel imo, im glad to hear they will be back up again with poker

Cebu (Lapu-Lapu on Mactan) would be the best value all things considered in my opinion, though probably a bit more scarce on accomodation choice, hence a tad more expensive.

from what i was told if you want to play for any reasonably sized stakes you need to be in manila

the nicest parts of manila are makati or the fort

But you're not playing live poker right now anyway, and you've told me a bunch of times how much you hate live poker right now.

As long as that remains the case, it doesn't matter what the live stakes are.

since all ITT wants to do is talk about me and not answer ill pass on what he told me, and he has been in cebu more recently than 2008

im pretty sure he said the biggest games would be in the 25-50 (peso) range and that was i think only on weekends and that with a 10% uncapped rake its not possible to make any serious money at it

I doubt that with multiple poker rooms having popped up, games in the 50-100 Php are nowhere to be found on a regular basis.
regarding rake and the fact that they are gammmmblers, lags are not going to fare well but nittin it up and play one hand / hour fully would still lead to a decent win rate imho.

Not really sure where you're getting this from dude, but u have the wrong read this time.

Rake is absurd yes. I believe game is still beatable. Currently I have beaten the live game in Philippines but my sample size is too small to know if it is beatable long term with such absurdly high rake.

25-50 is .50-$1 though. I guess it plays big often enough that it might be closer to $1/$2 in reality (especially in Cebu with all the crazy Koreans,) but when you add in the rake, I think your going to be hard pressed to make anything over $10 -$15 an hour, and honestly getting as high as $15 an hour long term probably isn't realistic. Sure you are living in a much cheaper country, but IMO just play online and make $20-$30 an hour.

If you want to play live poker, to maybe make a bit of extra money on the side, Cebu is fine.

If you want to grind full time for a living, I don't think you should even try in Philippines tbh, but if you were bound and determined too then you should spend most - all of your time grinding in Manila. Maybe go to Cebu when they get APT events there, and spend the rest of the time in Manila.

I was looking back over some emails I had with HSBC Philippines before I first moved there 2 1/2 years ago. At the time they told me my Social Security Number from the U.S. would suffice as a secondary source of ID.

Is that still the case?

Also I'm sure ACR card would be work as well, but mine has expired. Can I get a new one as soon as I arrive in the country or do I have to wait until my second or third 'visa run.' ?
