They are def not forced to work there, pressure maybe from family but its taking the easy money option for most of those girls. Life in the Philippines is hard for many, bargirls are no exception, and I would say are actually in a lucky group compared to the rest.

I disagree VV, from my experience it is rare that they ask for a tip, and my advice for a newbie would be make it a rule not to tip.

Do what you like, if you want to tip for a service like that fine, but I stand by my advice that its not necessary. Their wage is built into the barfine, which if they are any good they would get 6-7nights a week, plus drinks and stupid donations like yours and they are doing fairly well for themselves.

If you are barfining lots of girls from a small area like AC, or even the same bar they all talk amongst themselves and know what type of customer you are. I have fun with girls, we eat drink and party, generally have a great time. I have found from experience that tipping large amounts to girls actually works to your disadvantage, and changes the dynamic of the relationships. As I said I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I find you gain more respect by not tipping, maybe they know you aint going to give them extra so its takes pressure off them by not having to ask. Whether this is wrong or right I dont really care. The girls i'm still friends with and who remember me every time I go back are the ones that I dont give anything to.

FWIW, I generally tip a bit (maybe 2-300) for the girls who have a lower BF if they are decent in the room, the girls that cost more to BF I'm less inclined to tip as they are getting more anyway.

Its almost in the same bizzare way that we laugh about foreigners sending money to them while they are laying in my bed. The worst I ever felt was when a girl bought me a case of red horse right after her bf sent money to her western union.

Situational dependent obviously, I always thought girls were trying to long game me even when I made it clear to them that I would never give them money so dont ask, yet they always still wanted to be close. Set the frame up from the beginning and you will be amazed with the results.

FWIW I personally don't think tipping makes a massive difference from my experience all over Asia, but if any thing they will do more for you not less if you tip. I just sometimes do it because they earn fk all and I think they deserve it.

It doesnt make any difference if your only staying a couple of nights, whatever. If your there for extended periods of time then I'm saying in can work in your favour by not tipping, meaning its easier to become friends with bargirls, ie hanging out when they not working, by setting the frame early, being cool and not acting like every other customer they have.
