is that really a small thing though? you could have to wait an extra hour + because of something like that

im as unconfrontational of a person as youll ever meet but i definitely would call the floor out on something like that

It might seem like a small thing, like a micro thing, but its a micro aggression. When you live in a foreign country as long as some of us have and day after day, week, months, years after years this keeps happening, this kind of treatment because its not our country, and it builds up and eventually we don't put up wit it anymore. We either take a stand or leave. (or get kicked out)

I know everyone is going to say I am defending the actions taken by fellow country men again. Isn’t it a given practice for allot of Vegas grinders to bribe/tip floor men to move them ahead of the list or to move them to a juicer table? I have actually read about this happening in Vegas at the mid-high stake tables on this site.

As far as all the casinos I have been in Manila especially Hyatt Hotel and Casino were I spent most of my time while in manila, it’s a policy for the security at the door to collect cameras. They also tape your cell's camera lens’s to make you think twice about taking pictures while inside.

Yes, as I mentioned many times I am pinoy. While in Philippines I am never treated as one. For starters I don’t speak the language although I can understand verities of the different dialects. Another reason is that I was told I don’t look/act as a pinoy. It is not that I try to be un-pinoy or anything because I am proud of my heritage.

It is possible that you have been kicked out because you complained as you mentioned but I doubt that is the case. I mean I have seen a white retired westerner get thrown out of Hyatt because he was a drunk. I also saw a rich Singaporean get thrown out of Heritage who had over 1 MIL pesos on a pontoon table get kicked out for being drunk and an ass to the dealers.

yes it's standard for tippers to get preferred seating in USA, especially in Vegas.

If you mean in card rooms I'm not sure about that one. I've spent loads of time in Vegas, probably 15-20 trips and I have never seen that happen.

I've never tried it myself since biggest game i'veplayed in was 2/5. Although as I mentioned i've read that it does happen US casinos. I think first place I've read about it was on mooremoney's thread or Mike Wolfe's when the vegas regs/grinders would chase the fish around by tipping the floor men to get them on the fishes table.

Cant find a decent hair salon either. They all seem to take zero pride in their work. Thais are meticulous in the extreme when comes to cutting hair. imo

Your in Manila right?

I had an awesome haircut at a place right off burgos. It was a super small place, okay price. I had a guy in his early women transformation stages cut my hair. Was flirtatious, but did a good job.

i definitely disagree about tippers getting to jump lists in vegas, im not sure about the "big games" but in 2-5 or 5-10 its pretty much not gonna happen, if your next on the list and you see someone taking your seat make a fuss and you are gonna get the seat

i would assume its the same in the bigger games cuz they arent gonna wanna piss off any big spenders

Just becuase you disagree with it and that majority of us hates it doesnt mean it doesnt it happen.
If it doesnt happen then I guess you call tell Mike Wolfe he is full of sh$t. He is a pro player as well as writes for some poker magazines. I dont remember the details but to me if a floor men had to be tipped to get preferential treatment then its all the same. We can complain all we want but how often do people actually sit around keeping tract of the list or the order of those people looking to change tables? As to the bigplayers the casinos dont reallycareto much about them in terms of poker. The poker rooms bread and butter are from the low stakes after all the rakes are the same with the high stakes at least at the casinos that I have played in. In the low stakes especially in LHE players can last longer and as time goes by the only winner is the house who will rake all the money if no one re-buys in a 6-8 hour period.

I've honestly never seen it mate and I've spent a sh.it load of time in Vegas playing. In most card room they have the screens up with names on so its all pretty transparent.

Its transparent ifthe person being seated was o the list but what if somone who was not on the list was quietly given a seat? Also like I said how often do you actually stand in front of the list until you are up next? Most people like myself walk around until we are called. Like I said just becuase it isnt suppose to happen doesnt mean it doesnt. Its like everything else in life, sometimes rules are broken.

There is a reason bellagio used paper for years. Lol if you've played in vegas a significant amount and think this doesn't happen.

Yea I played mostly at bellagio a few days a week for the ~2 years I lived in Vegas. Maybe it's different now a few years later but I know it went on because I did it myself. (hated the floor ppl at bellagio but did what I had to, it's how it was there)

Even if it does happen in both, its still a bit ****ty and therefore does not excuse them doing it here two wrongs don't make a right etc.. So Temujens defense is...Well it happens in vagas too.

It would be a defense and something to have pride in I guess, if they didn't do it here, giving them one up as it were.

Pooter at least now you know it isnt just Philippines. The reason why i responded is that most want to point out all the negative in PI and not realize that what you point out happens in the western world as well. Sure in PI its more transparent but its the same in most 3rd world countries. Try going to the middle east and see what happens... they wont care if your white they will jump in front of line and its worse if your from nepal or India thwy will treat you like dirt... Not all are the same offcourse since I've meet alot of decent middle eastern folks.

Someone mentioned that they got a haircut in manila and was not satisfied. Well, it is the same here in the US. Each time I move to a different city I would have to try various barber/salon to find one I can be happy with. I had my haircut 2 weeks ago and a second girl step in because the 1st coudlnt get it right. So even in the same barber shop or salon you will find different level of skill. Now I am not trying to make any excuse for the person that cut his hair but as you noticed he has already assumed that all filipinos dont take pride in their work and are lazy. Isnt it just possible that the barber was not use to cutting that hairstyle? Would you take a BMW to any shop other than a BMW shop or would you take a old chevy truck to a shop dealing with import vehicles only? An ex-girl took me to a saloon in Las Pinas and the ***/gay/transgender who cut my hair tried his best... They did my nails (hands and feet)as well but thehair cut sucked. I think this was due to the fact that they dealt with women mostly, it is where my ex go for her spa.

I know Philippines is a 3rd world country. I know the govt is corrupt as **** and I knowits not a perfect place. I think you all know this going there so instead of trying to point out all the negative bull**** that we know why not try to think of the things you enjoy? And if if there is nothing you like then get on the next plane and return to Thailand or wherever you would rather be.

i dunno who mike wolfe is, im sure he has seen it, but its not common practice, ive been in vegas for 6 years and played live every day since black friday, only once can i remember even thinking i may have got jumped but the floor (at aria) told me they had put the guy on the wrong list, i probably got lied to but once in 1000+ times of playing isnt much, and maybe he did just get put on the wrong list

i could see it at bellagio cuz that room is run terribly, could even see it at aria but if you called them on it your gonna get your seat most likely

and yes i check where im at on the list, and when i ask for a table change i find out if anyone is ahead of me for the tables i want to go to, usually im the only one that has requested a change there and i pay attention to make sure i get my seat, i mostly play at venetian and have never caught them giving my seat to anyone else, and im not a good tipper

im sure there are rare occasions where it happens, but its certainly not commonplace or i would have caught them many times by now (i change tables constantly when i play so no one has time to realize im a nit)

you say the casinos dont care about the poker players and your basically right, but that big spender fish whose just playing poker for a bit is likely someone the casino cares very much about because he also plays in the pit, thats the exact type of person they really dont want to piss off because if they do he may take his action elsewhere

ya, 3 weeks

not sure i can afford makati, had a great run march-first half of may that gave me a really great chance, took a week off right before the wsop to clear my head and take a break from the grind and since ive been back its been rough, havent got hurt bad, just a ton of wasted time and opportunity getting dealt no hands, i know the deal thats poker just pretty frustrating since A) june is supposed to be the best month and B) its my last chance to make any real money before heading over

had dreams of $500-$600 a month apartments in my head, now im pretty sure (unless things change over the next 3 weeks) im not gonna be able to hand over $3500 for first 6 months + deposit

might have to look into living in a smaller less expensive city, angeles tops the list followed by subic, though poot saying he couldnt get on pokerstars in angeles is a bit scary

I think that was down to the hotel more than AC as a whole.

As i say I know a guy in Asia Tower paying 20kpm for nice place (thats less than $500 and is bang in makati proper). The thing to do is hit the streets and hunt hunt hunt!

Mate will you stop being so sensitive please. If you go to any thread about any country including our own (UK, USA etc) you will find people complaining about stuff, that is just what happens. Its not just because its the phils.

Staying in Makati near the Power Plant mall off Rockwell. I have no plans. Just going with the flow.
