Check with your airline to see if they'll let you get on without a visa and without an exit ticket within 21 days of your arrival.

We will see mate, I am fully aware its a love or hate place, for me the adventure is half the thrill

Only about a week of the 3 and a half weeks will be dedicated to degen stuff. The rest will be travelling around seeing normal stuff and possibly hooking up with the odd regular chick en-route, but there is no big deal if that does not happen. Think I'm gonna head up into the Cordillera mountains for a week and then maybe go to Cebu for a week, but all is flexible. The main reason I'm going is a bunch of my Thai drinking buddies are going to AC and Subic for a week so I will join them for that and do my own thing after. I've got a feeling AC will be too hardcore for me, but we will see.

LOL don't have a number for Lek mate, she was on my FB but she binned me!
Is it honestly the same chick? I assumed you were joking

Ha yeah was just joking about lek, still wouldnt mind her number tho

In that case im sure you will have a great time, I was mainly referring to the degen side of things. I doubt AC will be too hardcore, everyone it seems to me, makes a big deal out of it, i think its pretty tame to be honest.

Anyway looking forward your TR.Dont forget the darn pics!!

whats bad about the structures? levels? payout?
The levels are usually only 15 - 20 minutes each, and don't get longer as the toruny goes, they stay the same.

Most of the time you'll find shove mode starts within just an hour - 2 hours of the start of the tourny.

The one thing I can say for them is, the higher the buy in the more chips you start with. So at least there is that.

To be honest it's probably only slightly worse then most online low stakes tournaments, and probably pretty similar to most low stakes live tournaments as well. Personally I don't think any of these are worth playing over cash, but I suppose that just comes down to your preferences.

Not all the extensions are the exact same price, but the range is from $75 - $100 each time. This means you are paying about $50 a month to stay in the country.

Hey guys, im going to be coming to phils about 19th Jan. Im Australian citizen and can stay without visa for 21 days. However I am planning to stay maybe 3 months or so.

Should I get the visa prior to coming here or should I come for 21 days first and then extend the visa when in phils?

Btw if any1 has a spare room anywhere let me know ill get it for like 3 months. Cheers.

Cheers guys, this is my plan it has to options

1) just book the flights and arrive with £5,000 british and see if I can find somewhere to crash, my only issue is i dont know if I wanna do this long term ie 6months to a year!

2)Looked yesterday at a high st chain who gave me a price of £900 british for a two week stay in thailand obv inc flights etc

What does phillepines have over thailand etc

Ideally would love to stay and grind 6 months just for the experince, obv have 5k as life expenses ( This enough for rent nights out etc? ) and grind 25NL

Tho if anyone is out there at the time ( Aug ) an has a spare room or something hit me up

There are places where you can get 3 months contracts (furnished), Rockwell is one of those places. Live in a hotel/hostel for the first 1-2 weeks (read thread for recommendations).

Living expenses in the Philippines have a high variance and is very personal. Personally I spend just as much here as I did in central London (around £2000 monthly). On the other hand locals live here for less than £100 monthly.
Its really up to you. Spend 1-2 weeks here and you get an idea how much you spend. You can read Paul B. old guides to get his breakdown.

Hi, long time lurker here. Have a semi-urgent question to ask:

I arrived in Cebu in late November, and was planning to extend my initial 21-day visa to 60 days. However unfortunately I forgot about it and now it's gone past the 21 days. And so I'm a little scared about whether I will get in trouble for this, get deported, bribed by immigration, something like that.

Is it fine to get it extended after the 21 days? Thanks.

hey gororok are u from LP?

i think you will have to pay a fine for overstaying.

Yes you will have to pay a fine for overstay. It sounds like you have been overstay for less then a month, so the fee should be only 1000p.

Anything under a month is supposed to be 1000p.

I've overstayed twice in the Philippines and both times all I had to do was pay that 1000p fine.

I only overstayed a couple of days each of those times though, you've overstayed a few weeks already, so it might be worse for you.

Regardless, the best thing for you to do at this point, is just to get this all dealt with ASAP.

Don't try to cheat the system and don't be a dick to the people you have to deal with there.

Just go there with your tail between your legs, apologize for your mistake, and be humble and gracious and respectful. Do that, and you will probably only have to pay the 1000p fine.

Spent an amazing month traveling around the Philippines about 20 yrs ago.

Highlights were spending a week in El Nido, Palawan, two weeks diving in Moal Boal in Cebu, and seeing Freddy Aguilar playing at The Hobbit House in Manilla.

These pics really make me want to return!

Roughly:
£600, rent (Decent but small 2 BR, P30k) + utilities (P5k) + internet (P5k) + misc
£1k-1.5k on food (Only eat quality food, either cook myself or at restaurant. Never eat local dishes)
£500 entertainment

My lifestyle is similar to how it was in Europe, my own place but not fancy, eat out a lot, party, watch cinema etc at least twice a week. Some small trips from time to time. No car and no maid.

Whoa, are you sure about that? I've averaged $450 (£300) a month on food for the past three years, and that's including meals for girlfriends. Around 50% eating out at nice places, 50% buying groceries and eating at home.
