The average flip knows around Grade 4 English..but some will surprise you....dont expect to get into any philosophical discussions with them though.

One thing they provide that is lacking in many Asian cultures is the GFE (girl friend experience) To them it is the nuts to be seen with a foreigner.

I can only speak for Angeles City and Davao City. There are tons of apartelles and cheap hotels in those 2 places. Angeles is a real party town-the Clark Air Base used to operate there and a ton of ex pats live there. Pretty easy to find something that would fit your needs. Angeles is 2 hours north of Manila.

Davao City is where my house and wife and kids are....and I am unfortunately in the Great Wasteland (Canada) reloading my peso reserve right now. Davao is in Mindanao province in the south..around a seven iron from the friggin equator. Hot as Hades there but I love it. I would not recommend setting anything up over the internet...just go to your area of choice and start looking around..good luck!

It depends where you wanna stay, I suggest you hit Manila first, get an apartment and inet then if you can't stand the traffic and the city life of Manila head out to Cebu/Davao/Bacolod which are much more laid back cities compared to Manila which multiple beaches.

So how's the scene out there 2+2er's? You guys hanging out together and going out on outings? Seems like a great scene there, I might have to come for a visit.

for one thing, Manila is the city capital of the Philippines and everything is in Manila. as for poker games, the airport casino spreads games, the hyatt casino manila does too, Pavilion casino, and the metro card club. www.metrocardclub.com

i heard about the hsnl games being spread here. they usually have like 5-6 regulars then 2-3 fish. very juicy and profitable for sure

yeah all poker games just NLHE, i think 200/400 which is like 4/8ish usd blinds and i heard of a 12/25usd game running as well. Yup, majority of the population is poor, but it doesn't mean there's no rich fish

I'm heading to cebu july 12th. What's the live poker scene like there, i played a little in manila. I liked the games there, except manila is not a place i want to spend alot of time. I was hoping cebu would have some ok games, since there is so much near it.

Can you please write a small trip report when you get back. I was planning an extended stay in Cebu and was wondering what things are like.

In Cebu I played at the Waterfront my first session. They had 2 games running, 10-20, and 25-50. Action there was ok, and there is a jackpot so they take 50 pesos out every pot. Didn't look like any guests from hotel were playing, just regulars.

I then played Bravio in Mandaue. Much nicer there with 3 games going most of the time, 10-20 up to 50-100. Alot of gambling with the players and big raises preflop when i played. There are also some tournaments there, but not sure on details of that.

Rake is the one negative of these games. 10% up to 400pesos on 50-100. cap is 300 on 25-50. And maybe lower cap on lower games but i haven't played them. Pagcor casinos also have jackpot of 50pesos on all pots.

making an extended vacation here. next week until christmas. so 5 months. any poker players wanna meet up? at least medium stakes.

I was just in the Philippines for the last 3 weeks living near the Fort and it was awesome. I recommend going there for nightlife, just don't do anything stupid because there have been shootings (especially at the Embassy which is the nuts btw)

How much can a decent apartment or condo cost per month near the Fort/Makati area? I'm thinking about going there for 2-3 months once football season is over..

last time i was there i was within a 20 yards of 2! yes not even one time but 2 times.. shootings. nobody died, but this girl got shot in the foot. and i knew the girl too!
