Random question: How hard would it be for an expat to get into a University in the Philippines?

I sometimes think about going back to school for a Computer Science degree, but it's hard to justify taking on more student loans (I still owe $25K). Since English is so widely spoken in the Philippines and since the cost of living is so cheap, I've often wondered if studying in the Philippines is an option.

I think each semester is gonna cost you between 40000-60000 ($1000-1500) but those are figures im quoted when i get the hard sell.

I have recently got to know some uni girls and I can tell you they are a big notch above the regular girls in terms of looks. Although not so slutty.

They just told me that they only have internet in the Lobby and not in the rooms :/

So I guess I'll look for something else, this place looks really nice (fairly expensive though), anybody try it?

They had wifi in the rooms when I was there last in April, the boxes were in the corridor so you had to sit in the half on the room near the corridor to get a signal but it was fine for me. Maybe just book for a night or two and check it when your there, you don't want to be booking a long stay anywhere before you have tested the internet anyway if its an important requirement for you.

dont take out more money than youre gonna need that night (so awesome in snooky that means $25)

leave bank cards in your room

bring photo copy of passport and leave the real thing in your room

if you get jacked its no loss

ive bought or given kids food a couple of times, it usually results in other kids swarming you and following you around

where else you going in PI? how long are you there for?

sooooo jealous right now
i have lived in the ph for almost a year now and have never had a problem -

never give street kids or anyone else food or money - you are only making it worse for everyone else.

If you want to find cheap places to stay in cebu, try getting a yellow pages(they usually have them in all hotels, jsut ask for one) and look for "pension houses" then just call everyone of them and ask if they have wifi. Then get a taxi and just drive from one to another. That's what I did and found a few places that were not too bad.

If you're building a custom desktop, be sure to have an upgraded power supply, and sufficient UPS and/or surge protector/voltage regulator. Without these the lifetime and reliability of your desktop will be severely reduced.

Just got back from Davao and I'm shocked that there aren't more expats living there. It's pretty decent.

I think the guys from AdSense Flippers estimate that there's less than 100 non-retiree westerners there.
