Thanks for the tip, Dante.
I am starting to believe in Carson Daily's philosophy he coined called "Karma". It means if you do good things good things will happen to you. It may seem like getting pick pocketed is a bad thing but I was incredibly lucky to have it happen on the one time in my entire 2.5 month vacation where I did not have my wallet.
Earlier that night a young boy no older than 10 asked me for money. As usual I told him no. He said he was hungry, to which I replied I'll buy you food. He wanted ice cream. Nope, something a bit more nutritious. Ice cream, he repeated stubbornly. I wanted to get him something he would actually eat, and I know children wouldn't hesitate to throw away a salad because they can be little ****s at time. So I got something in between, a Pizza. At least it has protein and calcium and calories to help get him through the night.
Later I would be robbed though it was far less damaging than if I'd had my wallet. Also it would have probably been worse for me if I'd caught the perpetrator, either by he having a weapon or me doing something violent that would get me thrown in a prison. An alternative bad outcome would be me being beaten up by a gang of transgenders.
Also, does anybody know the etiquette for hitting a transgender if he/she stole your wallet? I've been raised to act in accordance with proper manners but that's something that my parents neglected to teach me. It's probably best to avoid violence all together unless you're threatened with bodily harm, but then what would I do if I caught the perp...?
That's why it may be good to wear flip flops. Also, with flip flops, you don't have to wear socks, which is convenient. And it's a bit cooler because your feet are exposed to the open air.
