BTW, why do you need to bring 5BI to the poker room? As long as there is not any crazy Koreans at the table you need max two BI. It does not seem like the people in Metro Club is willing to gamble that much anyway, so the variance should hence be lower.

is the rake 10% everywhere in the Philippines? That and the highest stakes they run regularly (plus there was an annoying ATM limit and fee) being 2/4 usd nl would make grinding live for a living in the philippines a pretty bad idea. Macau is really nice for grinding cash, similar to Vegas, check it out if you get a chance.

Max rake for the 100-200 game is 400 pesos in Metro Club and in some other clubs.

If you live in the Philippines you can get a Filipino visa card and you do not have to pay fee if you use your bank's ATMs. The fees are even higher in Thailand.

Eh I kind of agree with CZglory on this one that grinding live full time may not be the best idea in Manila, since it's not that easy to find a 2/4+ game every night. Not sure if Macau has a better rake structure though for 2/4+, and also the atm fee is a non-issue once you get a local bank account which is fairly easy to do.

i've been to a couple s.e. asia places, but not back to the u.s.a.
also i have a balikbayan stamp, so my stay here in the philippines is fine.

am i gonna lose my citizenship if i don't go back anytime soon?

Lol no bro. You can stay outside as long as you want. If you were on a green card that might be different.

Hey, back in Switzerland for now. I should be back later this year though. A balikbayan stamp is a one year visa-free entry for former filipino citizens or their children.

yea, there are easily over 100 poker players and they hang out very frequently. Check out the Thailand Chatter/ask us about thailand threads in the travel section of 2+2.
Macau rake is 5% capped
(200 max @ any limit)
the ATM issue in Manila is only a problem because of the silly cap on how much you can withdraw at once.
they regularly spread 100/200 HKD NLHE up and nosebleed stakes (roughly $1,000/$2,000 USD NLHE) roughly 7.5/1 conversion for USD so like 3k for 100 BBs roughly

The lowest limit they spread is 10/25 which is like 300 nl. (rake capped @ 100 HKD, 4 BBs, no flop no drop)

There is no cap if you open up a local hsbc account and withdraw during business hours from the counter.

is there much clubbing going on during the weekdays in manila? if so where?
staying in makati, so far ive not seen anything that compares to bkk, both in terms of clubbing and hot girls. the few places weve tried to go has been closed or the crowd wasnt very young.

edit: wont be here for the weekend.

If you want to go clubbing in Manila, the best venue to attend is probably goiing to be Encore/Embassy Superclub. It's definitely upscale compared to the other venues that are offered and it the most bumping. They have both trance/house as well as a hiphop room if you are into that. Bottle service is a must obv.

I'll contribute with some of the upcoming MTTs in Manila that may or may not be worth playing.

June 11th: Day 1A Independence day 2M gtd. 3K buyin (Metro)
June 12th: Day 1B
June 13th: Day 2
June 14th: Day 3

June 25th-?: 5M gtd, 10K+1K (FPT event, Metro)

Aug 23-29: $2500+200, $1M gtd (APT event, Resorts World)

In general, the only regular tournaments questionably worth playing in Manila are the Metro 7pms at Mon, Wed, and whichever they have on Sat.

Apart from that I can give somewhat of a review of the cashgames I've been playing

Hyatt 50/100: Packed with Koreans when I was there. People opening to >800 and betting 7K on the flop was not rare. Several buyins over 100K. No young good regs. 2 tables running.
RW 50/100/200: Lots of foreigners and loose action. Again no real regs. Approx 5 tables running but no lower than 50/100.
Metro 50/100: Played this one a decent amount. 70% half crappy regs and the occasional good player. Probably not the game you wanna grind though if you're a westerner living expensive. Most players have a good clue about basic poker and betsizing.
Metro 100/200/500: I've only observed this game with half an eye on a Saturday while playing another game in the "vip" room. 3 young pros (which of one certain player's abilities may be questioned) and the rest were congressmen and politicians. Real juicy game and probably the most profitable live game you can find in town.

Overall the games you wanna play are either the highest stakes in the weekends at Metro, and/or the games at Hyatt/RW. I haven't been to other rooms yet like Big Ace or Pan Pacific. Make sure you bring a BR tho I'm stuck "a lot" so far in live games and to my advantage I'm considered a fish by some regs. GL

On the topic of food.

Looking for 24/7 delivery options, preferred internet ordering because it's convenient and I can't understand half of what these phone girls are saying
As for 24h delivery I can only really find McDo and Jollibee, which tbh isn't that attractive.

Daytime I use quickdelivery.ph which I think has the same selection as munchpunch.com, only slightly cheaper. Pizzahut is also decent with online ordering - delivery is pretty darn quick and pizzas are pretty good.

If you have tips on this topic, please post. Finding good food in this city is a bit of a challenge, I just can NOT find a good steak. I know Elberts is supposed to be good. I want like a really good tenderloin and I don't care if it costs 5K. All knowledge on online ordering and 24h delivery is highly appreciated.
