welp. not any richer or booty-cheek clappier than last time, but figured I'd come in and update.

Argentina was aight. I'm either learning more about people or becoming bitter in old age, but the argentinian charm has worn off on me a bit and I finally agree with the rest of the world that argentinians are a bit weird in general. I did a writeup in another thread as to why the rest of the world realizes this, and I guess I finally do too, a bit.

Went to LAPT uruguay with a friend, then came up to rio with me for a week to check things out. We had business to do and wasted all the sunny days running around, then once we were free the rain came. We hiked to jesus in the rain and then got some coconuts

Moved into a great little apartment here, really stoked on that, sick location. nothing baller, everything adequate. Just started hooking up with that same girl I was here with last year, so no fun stories there. She speaks all languages and cooks surprisingly awesome and cleans my house on sunday. I'm too busy to search for something else, although she's had some random baby references that worry me.

I grinded quite a bit the last 2 months to no avail. Down like 25k+ on LAPT/BSOP sats, which has never happened before. I was also putting a student of mine in em who was playing sooo raw for the first couple weeks until we had a ton of study sessions, and I'm actually impressed with his game now and proud of him. We both lost a dumb about of HU matches, which is basically just a 5k package each time. Oh well. LAPT/BSOP sucked as usual. I won't berate certain stars pros who are just consistent douches at these events. Really thought I was gonna make a run, but yea, liveaments, who cares.

Back in rio now and will stay here another month or so. High season starts like right now and poker is fading into the background a tiny bit anyways for me, as I'm really trying to get involved in coaching more. Been doing so much work on the tables, each time I sit down to play I'm really looking forward to it, I just don't get the chance as often these days. I think I just booked a volume prop bet with a student for the weekend, shouldn't be tough, and a drunken picnic/smorgasbord is on the line

Really happy with how staking is coming overall. Not as happy about personal poker results in MTTs, but other stuff keeps me alive. Really reconsidering my late reg strat as well. Basically started dabbling with late regging last year after a buddy was here (and shipped LAPT HR, beast) and he made a ton of good arguments for it. Now I late reg a bit smaller ABI, and was regging with ~15bb for the most part this year. I've recently bumped it up to 30-50bb to late reg, and really wish there was a formula of sorts or even just data to build one and look at results. I do think my BB/100 has decreased as a result of this, but that seems normal as well that winrates won't be as high on 25bb effective, but the chips I am winning are essentially 'worth' more. Have had plenty of discussions with various people on it and no easy decision either way. So far it hasn't worked for me, but MTT variance is pretty lol, especially when I drop my buyins and focus on giant fields.

Doing weekly reviews and hired a coach who has some very different thoughts than our collective staking group, but there's respect all around so it turns into very interesting discussions. The coach is one of WCGs players for years and is basically uber balanced, where us MTT kids like a bit more button clicking and exploiting and a bit less making sure our check/check/bet lines have proper value to bluff ratios. Really eye-opening though just being surrounded by so many good players, hiring more, and constantly improving. Super proud of a lot of the guys we're starting to form into good players as well, seeing their games change so much week over week. I've never been sooo involved with coaching/staking before and always had much more hands off approach, but its cool getting in there everyday. I just skip entire days of playing and justify it with "I'll do a review later and pop in the strat chat, that's work!"

Brazil is nice. I also see why everyone who lives here kinda hates it though. Why does nothing stay shiny and sparkly forever, dammit?! There's just no real value to be had in Brazil, or south america in general. That's not all encompassing but it is the truth. It's pretty normal to pay $20 for a decent meal here, and $10 is super duper standard. I grew up on dollar menu's and no inflation or something, but in my mind california was like twice as cheap as anywhere in latin america. I'm going back to asia soon. It's 4am, I feel like my writing has a weird tone to it. I'll blame it on that.

yea I don't have much interesting to say, here's where I live!

lil jeezy's left hand is pointing to my place, but I'm like right where the beach stops and curves around. super top right peeking out is copacabana, like 3km away from me and free bike rentals out my front door. Asked previously mentioned old lady if she wanted to go to the beach one day on bikes. sure. MANNN I need to start qualifying girls for physical activities. She's like really fit and I've gone on very steep hikes with her, but she looks like a ****** riding a bike and I even caught multiple groups of randoms laughing at her, which was hilarious to me. I was a bit upset at first as I like to go fast everywhere, but whatever. went to the beach, found a black dude, bought some weed and forgot about it.

oh, I saw a riot the other day actually on the way to go skate. was really gnarly:

^^ photo not mine. I kept trying to get closer, but still didn't know what was going on and kept hearing bombs go off and everybody running, so just got out of there. Couldn't even go skate as they sprayed tear gas all around at the spot, I'm really hoping the ramps and stuff are still there as people were just kinda lighting everything on fire in the streets basically. I guess something about elections, and they stopped paying police and fire dept. a salary, but a lot of em still work as police because you can get away with crazy ****, and people backlashing against police who aren't police anymore and are just exploiting people with anything they can since there is no real repercussion as they don't get paid anyways but keep a badge? because brazil.

I came around the corner and saw this:

I got in to where the trees are and bombs started going off (small ones probably). Then a new wave of riot cops showed up, people started throwing bottles, and i got super freaked out as I saw sniper cops on roofs just shooting people (found out later they were rubber bullets). So yea, maybe I wouldn't make the best investigative journalist. Anyways I went skating, met a dope crew, and did a mannequin challenge instead. its not as gay as I thought.
life not super exciting. next couple months should be. rio for a month and NYE here, then beach down south for a month, then back here for carnavale is the plan. update bang bang

weeeee life is fun again! The last month and a half has been pretty rad - buddies came out from colombia to stay with me over new years. All we did is skate, beach, drink - errry damn day. NYE was fun, although less hype than last year as Brazil is broke now I guess and their amazing 30 minute firework show turned into like 10 minute normal show. Oh well, we all ran into the ocean at midnight. Saw my first arrastãos that night, which is basically hundreds of ppl from the favela come and just run through the beach ramsacking people and stealing anything they can. Dumb and scary.

I guess you can't really tell but this is christmas day in rio, the beaches are absolutely packed with hundreds of thousands of people

Did one of the bigger hikes which was fun. Went with skate homies so we kept a good pace. I hate doing things slow. Some really cool rock/rope climbing you have to do to get to the top of this, I was surprised how sketchy it was. The further curvy beach in the far back is ipanema, and the sharp peak to the upper left of my hat is where the big jesus statue is

oh sippin on gin n juiceeee on the snoop dogg stairs

After I couldn't take any more of drinking with those guys every night I came down to florianopolis, nice island in the south I spent time at last year. Had a big reunion here with some friends, one is in a band and played a couple shows. They all went on a roadtrip following around slightly stoopid, another band they're friends with. I stayed behind but was fun going out with the old crew while they were on the island. stand-up paddle through this lake and down a stream

I live here now:

Nice having a ramp in my frontyard, getting a lot better at skating pools, even if it is a mini pool

Another hike we did last week to another part of the island, was a cool deserted beach you have to hike to and some people camp out. We hiked there and then climbed up this steep hill next to it

can see from panorama there's pretty much nothing around:

Been surfing a ton and for first time in my life feels like I'm getting decent at it, pretty stoked on that. Only been grinding on sundays but going surprisingly well. Stable is crushing it Getting more and more dedicated to the stable and running that/doing coaching and studying myself a ton to make sure I'm giving the best I have to offer. Feels good to be productive in a way besides just putting in 8+ hour MTT sessions. Here's graph of all players since the date we picked each one up:

I don't take anywhere near half that profit home, as its a group venture plus we hire outside coaches and accountant/pointman, but its a great group to be involved in and keeps all of us on our toes. Awesome to see so much continued improvement in every one of our players as well

2p2 staking thread

Also started microdosing LSD. Kinda odd as I've never done acid before in my life, but it seems kinda cool. I know I'm taking sub-perceptible doses, but sometimes I feel really on point. I take 1/8th of a tab every 3-4 days. Skateboarding feels great and more creative, walking around town things sometimes feel prettier and with more glimmer. Smoked a bunch of weed the other day and it made me pretty paranoid and awkward though. I notice that on days I take it, I seem much more sociable in a more natural way - looking people in the eyes more and generally establishing more rapport with people. Will see what happens, but would like to integrate psychedelics more into my life on a semi-regular basis.

Back to Rio this weekend, back on the grind, friends coming to visit for carnavale, then going to trumplandia for a month and then back to asia. vamo

Hey how does that microdosing work? Have you read some research about this??
another kid wandering around earth Quote

hey so these are the best articles I ran across WRT microdosing:

http://highexistence.com/microdosing-lsd-psychedelic/
https://thethirdwave.co/microdosing-with-lsd/

Another one about extreme sports athlete's using LSD for decades, which makes so so so much sense to me. Have had skateboard friends in the past do some really insane stuff in the past while blasted on acid, and I related to that a lot. Kinda just feels like a video game and you're learning a trick without focusing on fear or pain, very in-tune with your body.

Back in america. its funny here, I like americans for the most part. It's nice speaking the same language as everyone else. I eavesdrop a ton now since I can understand every little word. Dirt cheap here for so much stuff... food, certain groceries, clothing, electronics, giant market for anything 'used'. Thrift stores are amazing, and T shirt warehouses where I get shirts I like 3 for $10. Got a USB monitor for $100, complete skateboard for $50, a bunch of tanktops for hot ass thailand for like $8 each. I guess once you add up health insurance, car insurance, gas expenses, taxes, rent, tickets and citations, medical costs of most fat ass unhealthy sedentary people... then it becomes unreasonable again.

In-n-out burger. I'll be doing this a lot.

I like suburbs. quiet streets, impossible to walk anywhere, sunshine, real neighbors.
Lettuce is way crispier here and no need for outlet converters. Good ass beer everywhere. Got mom's giant modern kitchen to cook in. They have tinder here now, whoa! Will see if I can somehow get laid while I'm living on moms couch. Super diverse people. Bums are funnier here. I don't get asked for money much, but see lots of people talking to themselves and just genuine acting crazy. Got my drivers license today, kinda fun to drive around again. I'm much more careful... don't want to hit a pedestrian and **** myself. Had a failure to appear in court from like 7 years ago the guy at DMV mentioned and told me its was $500+ but didn't make me pay it. Just wanna keep my head down and get outta here.

anyways, that's america. ready to leave already. looking forward to thailand

oh my buddha thailand, I am so happy to be squirming around inside of you. I def got pretty sick of america pretty quickly, but regardless it was nice to be back.

oh yea **** the haters. Kinda like when heavy metal bands get more of a reaction repping satan and **** because none of it matters anyways. I don't like the dude. I don't hate the dude. He's a dude.

Saw my grandma for probably the last time so was nice to get some closure there. Had a couple quick trips to mexico. Tacos are so awesome. So is HK. shoutout HK. Wanted to make a trip to rosarito to see the old homies and staking partners, but time was short so I had to settle with tacos, HK, and sunday grind.

fish tacossss all muhterfukcing day

I kinda just have a ton of food pictures. That seems too popular nowadays for me to keep it going. just imagine some noodles, weird colored stuff, green juices, uber health meals, and In-n-Out burger. Bam, that saved precious wall-space.

No wonder I don't update this thing ever, its like a solid hour to write down a bunch of stuff.

Songkran was fun. It's intense, I stayed at a hostel like a block away from the action so it was easy to just stand outside with a hose, buckets, guns and smash anyone in a tuk-tuk that came by. Wandering into the street action for a few hours each day. Went to really fun night concert/water party with gf and her friends:

People seem to like when you talk about where you live. I like my place a lot. Very slightly overpaying, kitchen too small, and a bit too far from the metro (8 min walk), but overall happy. On 28th floor and I can walk around naked with no neighbors seeing which I'm happy about. Really nice big pool here so I've been swimming a ton. Very easy transition to asia life as I had gf from last time meet me at the airport and just handle everything for me. Nice to be with her again, although last 2 weeks she's been here like everyday, so I made her go home for awhile so I can go party and get some degen life goin on.

SCOOP is gonna be a hell of a sweat, i'm not completely comfortable with all the money we're putting on the line w/ the stable, just tossing so many people in $215 re-entries. Full faith in the guys and we've been doing a ton of wrk, they deserve some shots, but variance gonna variance. Gotta fire I guess, especially since I won't be playing much myself on this jacked up timezone.

welp, no scoop giraffe's - multiple top 30 finishes but nothing closed out for the team. Biggest downswing of the stable thus far in the last month, but horse binked big 109 on sunday to pull us out. feel like I should update my life.

So bangkok was really awesome. I stayed pretty busy the whole time, minimal degen nights. Played some cash, got into crypto pretty hard, kept coaching the pokers. Didn't really make a ton of friends, but stayed busy constantly and chilled with the gf a lot, cooked a bunch at home and I even brought corn tortillas and real hot sauce from usa to make her first authentic mexican taco, not these asian scamtacos with noodles in them.

We basically just make each other noodles and cuddle all the time:

soba noodles from her

squid ink pasta with shrimp and pesto from me. and mojitos

Only took one vacation in 2 months while I was there - went to chiang mai and pai with gf.

Chiang mai is pretty awesome. First day there we went to like 3 waterfalls and a cool temple above the city. Really cool that its so close to nature, like 10 minutes away and you're cruising up a mountain with waterfalls and hiking around. Good food that was pretty damn cheap as well. Met up with a couple old poker buddies and was really great to see them, both heros. Learned how to make homemade pasta, was great to learn the process. Takes such a long time - make dough basically, flatten it out, roll it up, then cut it into as thin of pieces as you can and untangle it all.

shoutout pelado with grandma's italian recipe skills, and king rama for hosting us with fernet and joints.

Pai was really fun. Sadly did not do mushrooms there, scene was just too young and lots of kids drinking shroom shakes, giggling, and staring at their hands while a DJ blasted techno and trance in the background. Needed more time to be able to find some on my own and set aside a day to go somewhere in nature. Went to more awesome waterfalls though, found a dope rock slide, and easily the largest cave I've ever been in. Drank a lot. successful trip.

Skated once or twice a week at this super fun skatepark I found. Met a really really sick skater there from spain - turns out he is an OG thailand poker grinder, was really cool to meet him as I've never ever seen anyone good at both poker and skating.

this is the park
Nice and huge and protected from the rain, which ended up forcing me to leave bkk for awhile. rainy season blows. Now I'm in Bali, Indonesia and go to the beach every day.

Bali is a ****hole. I knew it would be, but did not expect this many people. Finally settling into my little routine and enjoying things more though. Came with another poker friend from bkk but he ended up leaving. Found a nice big 2 story house with a pool for super cheap, owner just left for 3 weeks so it's all me. Across the street from one skatepark, couple blocks from another, and quick hop to multiple beaches so I'm staying super active lately. Rented a motobike, bought a surfboard, got a new gf. Daily I'm just staying up to date with stable stuff and coaching, managing crypto stuff, surf with the gf or skate everyday, eat out a lot more - and then a couple times a week go on a little trip to a new part of the island to check it out. new chick also teaching me yoga. seems easy and weird. Life feels nice although I should prob be working more. Will try to take more bali pics soon, and going to malaysia for a week on a visa run next week.

So bali was goddamn amazing. but yea traffic blows a big one. absolute biggest downside to the place. Uber also illegal there to get picked up, so you have to deal with taxi mafia, ride drunk, or just ask strangers to take you home (also normally drunk). pretty ridic. Was probably the healthiest life I've lived though. Just surfed or skated at least every other day, cooked a bunch of food, worked a bit, hung out with gf, went on little mini trips every couple weeks. really great place and I'll be back for life.

skipping around alot since I haven't updated in months, but moved back to bangkok last month. Been travelling for like 6 weeks basically since college roommate and uncle came out to visit. Koh tao, koh samui, bali, and philippines is where we went so far. Learned that I suck at freediving, but still gained some knowledge that will help me in other areas. Had some degen nights, fortunes were lost, orgasms were had. meh, keep it moving. Have not been drinking as much the last month or so and plan on continuing that. More reading, studying, grinding, and staying on top of ****

bali waterfalls

freediving. everyone just tried to go deep as **** and pretend to be spiritual. I kinda get it, but its like a dick measuring contest while having convulsions underwater. One kid this day popped his trachea diving to 30m with no fins. I just wanted to get better at holding my breath for snorkeling and getting tossed while surfing - and improve equalization for scuba diving. Only made it 10m down as my ears are ****ed, but was nice learning to freedive anyways. Then went swimming with tens of thousands of fish in the pic above, was really **** cool and pic shows like 20% of the massive fish wall that was there.

first time in an ice bar. damn that was awesome.

anyways, quick n dirty update of the last 5 months. Life has been nice. Happy to be home and chilling a bit again, all play and no work makes boliver a jaded ass dude in paradise.

Skipping japan snowboard season because I'm broke or something. Africa plans still on for 2018, but have a feeling I'm not getting out of that continent alive. oh well.

alriiiight, last update was 2 months ago. hmmm, wtf have I done since then. my friends all left which I am happy about, since I'm trying to work my ass off. I'll keep things poker and travel related and not touch on cryptoworld I guess.

Don't remember much of december, but went camping for Xmas a few hours outside of thailand at a pretty secluded beach, was fun and I want to do that more often.

christmas morning. kinda cool to wake up super early when you're camping. Not much light with just a fire so we cook dinner, make s'mores, get drunk and go to bed at like 9pm

I like caves a lot, and this is for sure in my top5. Long hike up a mountain that a local beach dog joined us for, then we were the only ones in this giant cave system with natural light because a bunch of sinkholes in the roof acted as skylights - which both illuminated everything and let rainfall come down, so it was the first time I'd been in a very lush cave. They made a temple there as well, and the whole thing was pretty serene. Meditated for awhile which I don't usually do, but was a nice place for it and absolutely quiet and still.

I never look in the mirror or take many selfies, so don't really keep track of what I look like, but jesus I am getting old and feel like I need to shave more often to keep the grey hair out of my beard. Not just grey hair either, but like my back hurts and **** when I go skate for too long, my groin hurts from an injury I had skating in Brazil. I sleep a ton more, seemingly get tired easier, read books all the time. Feel super healthy, content, grateful, and am learning and progressing more than ever - but jesus **** it's almost like I'm a real adult now. 32nd birthday is in a couple weeks, and also starting to feel like it's wrong to chase 18 year old chicks (but nahhhhh, that's fine). gf here I've been with on an off for quite some time. she's 22 so I guess it works out.

Also decided like, yesterday - I'm moving back to Bali. I enjoy a very healthy and balanced lifestyle there. Skating all the time, surfing a ton, good food, cheap life, places have big kitchens, not drinking much since you have to ride your motorcycle everywhere. Will invite the gf to come with me, as I actually hired her full time to help me out with things so it would work out well. Have an ex-gf in bali that I'm a bit worried about, as thai girl knows about and is super jealous about her. My analogy is - food is also very intimate, I mean you put that **** in your mouth and body everyday. I don't like mushrooms. But if my girlfriend eats a mushroom, I'm not gonna be mad at her. Really not sure why enjoying an orgasm with another person is all that much different as long as there is mutual respect, it doesn't threaten the relationship, and no negative repercussions. anyways... I'm goin, goin - back, back - to bali, bali......

shameless plug about how the stable is doing. Really stoked and proud of how everything is coming along. Started doing a lot more guest coaches with some really sick players which is awesome since not only do the students get a lot out of it, its a fresh perspective, and I get to check it out as well!! win/win/win.

want to grow things a bit more, but also really enjoy the fact that we can give everyone fairly personal attention, and too much bigger would make doing that more difficult. I see stables with one guy managing 30 people on their own and that's so crazy to me. We are 4 people and outside coaches and feel content with a bit over half that amount of players. There's room to grow, but not room to double without getting others involved in helping out.

I've just been studying, coaching, and grinding cash since I'm in the crap asian timezone. Really helps me to help others as a lot of MTTs is about exploiting, sure, but so many midstakes guys are just constructing their ranges pre and post like **** - so having more exposure to cash really helps solidify concepts for the newer guys who spaz out in a lot of spots.

I'm in taiwan now. it's really awesome, and nice to come to a first world country for a change. Old friend from college lives here, and gonna meetup with another travelchat legend over the weekend. Dumplings are awesome, soy sauce here is the absolute nuts, and they do noodles better than anywhere I've been. Went to this place called Taroko Gorge for a couple days which was like a cross between Yosemite, the Grand canyon, and the guatemalan jungle... kinda. with cool roads and bridges crisscrossing the river below

oh yea, nixxed moving to africa. just too busy. Prob still go with mom over summer for a safari, then decide what to do from there.

Glad I checked in and found these updates. Nice, man!

Bali sounds awesome... but is riding a motorbike a must? I prefer to walk and taxi but sometimes that just doesn't work.

That cave in Thailand seems absolutely epic.
another kid wandering around earth Quote
01-26-2018 , 01:19 AM
absolute must. or private drivers I guess. They have grab-bike in most areas, but not the part of town you'd likely to live in if by the beach. moved there with a friend who was planning to stay - he left after a week bc he doesn't want to ride bikes. their system is pretty horrid and leads to every person at the bar drunk driving as well. No uber/grab available near the beach area, so taxi's charge 2-3x and at night can be 10x. I really really hate it. couple more drunk driving deaths and they gotta change it I think. traffic is by far the worst thing about bali

I guess if you don't mind paying $20-30 for a taxi sometimes (would only be 1 way, its just a large no pick up zone, but drop-offs are fine), then its still fine. my friend visiting does this often. Just crazy to me though as it's $2-3 for a bike, $3-4 for a taxi)
