Thanks blackchilli.

Cool shots Csaba. Did you see any elephants there? I read about this "Elephant Gathering" in summer months, but haven't really heard of many people experiencing it. Maybe just because Sri Lanka isn't a very popular destination.

elephants and rhinos were in Chitwan NP. I don't know how often they play, this was just practice, they had a game coming up. It's crazy though, the elephants know what they are doing

I think the gathering happens around July. I was there a couple of months too early. I had one very good 15-20 minute sighting of 5-10 elephants that came within 5 meters of the vehicle whilst in Yala. I also had a few other not so good sightings.

Overal I'd say Sri Lanka is definitely worth visiting. I'd like to go back and spend a fair bit more time in the NPs. If I do make it make it back I'll time it to coincide with the gathering. On a vaguely related note I saw a 200+ member elephant superherd whilst in Hwange NP, Zimbabwe. I can't recommend that park strongly enough.

Good stuff. The most elephants I've seen was in Amboseli, where it's possible to get the iconic elephants with Kili in the background shot. Didn't manage that sadly, but this was one of my favorites:

By far my most liked photo since it was posted here: https://www.facebook.com/AfricanWild...type=1&theater

Elephant video from Hwange. It was recorded with a point and shoot camera so quality isn't the best.
